SSH encrypts traffic in both directions, preventing traffic sniffing and password theft. SSH also offers several additional useful features:
• Compression: traffic may be optionally compressed at the stream level.
• Public key authentication: optionally replacing password authentication.
• Authentication of the server: making ”man-in-the-middle” attack more difficult
• Port forwarding: arbitrary TCP sessions can be forwarded over an SSH connection.
• X11 forwarding: SSH can forward your X11 sessions too.
• File transfer: the SSH protocol family includes two file transfer protocols.
SSH was created by Tatu Ylonen in 1995 and was at first released under an open-source license. Later versions were to bear increasing restrictive licenses, though they generally remained free for non-commercial use. He went on to form SSH Communications security which sells commercial SSH implementations to this day. The earlier versions of his code implement what is now referred to as SSH protocol v.1.
In 1997 a process began to make the SSH protocols Internet standards under the auspices of the IETF. This lead to the development of version 2 of the SSH protocol. In the rewrite, the protocol was split into a transport layer, and connection and authentication protocols. Several security issues were also addressed as part of this process.

What is the SmartMAP.?
The SmartMAP. model SS-300 replaces the check valve and restrictor assembly used by most Honda/Acura turbo and supercharger kits and prevents the engine computer (ECU) from shutting down the engine when the manifold pressure is above atmospheric (boost).
How does the SmartMAP. work?
The SmartMAP. connects inline with the stock (OEM) manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and limits the MAP voltage that is applied to the ECU. The limit (clamp) voltage value is preset and can not be adjusted.
The stock Honda/Acura NSX MAP sensor has an output range of about 0.5V at high vacuum to about 2.7V at atmospheric pressure (wide open throttle for normally aspirated NSX’s). With a turbo or supercharger installed, the manifold pressure will increase above atmospheric, and the MAP sensor voltage will rise above 2.7V. At some voltage above 2.7V, the NSX ECU will assume that there is a problem with the sensor and shut off the engine, since under normal conditions (without the turbo/SC), the MAP output will never exceed about 2.7V. The software, which is now in its third generation, includes a large collection of tools and utilities, including an interactive geometry editor, raytracing and generic framebuffer libraries, network-distributed image-processing/signal-processing capabilities, and an embedded scripting language.
In support of the package, a multivolume tutorial series is being written to assist users with the many features and functionality of BRL-CAD. Three volumes have been published thus far. Volume I provides an overview of the package contents and installation (Butler and Edwards, 2002). Volume II addresses the basic functionality of the package’s Multi-Device Geometry Editor (MGED) and offers a comprehensive list of the user commands available (Butler et al., 2001). Volume III discusses the modeling process as well as principles and techniques to help maximize BRL-CAD’s effectiveness (Butler et al., 2003). All of these documents are available for download at (U.S. Army Research Laboratory, 2003).
The purpose of Volume IV is to discuss issues of compatibility and conversion between the BRL-CAD geometry file format and the formats of various other computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and computer-aided engineering (CAE) packages.
