  • .NET 2.0: Responsive IT Solution for Your Enterprise Applications
  • Solutions | J2EE to .NET 2.0 Migration Since almost two years, there has been an active debate over the endurance of the two giant enterprise platforms, Microsoft‘s .NET and Sun‘s Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE). Which technology would emerge as the leading platform for developing new web applications? Now that the combat has settled down a bit, each platform has managed to capture a substantial share of market for itself. In fact, many organizations have arranged for a strategy for one or the other of these frameworks. But many (e.g. those which have large investments in the legacy systems) are still evaluating the merits of the two platforms. The IT personnel in those businesses is questioning as to what extent would choosing .NET or J2EE influence their host strategy, etc. It's getting harder, not easier, to pick a clear winner, because J2EE and .NET are so similar. With J2EE and .NET, selection may be based less upon intrinsic merits of the platforms and more on your existing environment (e.g. resources, investments) and personal preference or style. Instead of choosing your platform based on marketing hype or technical bias, you can look at more bottom-line factors: • What assets does your company already possess (software, hardware, middleware)? • What level of experience do you have in people who know both your business and your implemented technology? • Will upgrading that system asset result in a positive ROI for the business? Adopting this philosophy of architecture will provide the greatest stability and ROI over time, not whether

  • AJA Configuration Guide pdf
  • AGP Graphics cards:this document lists the most common and most tested cards.Th ere are other boards available from both ATI and Nvidia that work with Kona and Io (such as the Radeon 9800).However,caution should be excercised when buying the latest and most powerful cards since their drivers may be new and untested with Kona/Io or may put heavy demands (RAM/processor etc.)in the Mac.Any such system con gurations should be fully tested by the dealer/reseller before delivering to an AJA customer. 3 -Amount of RT:if flexible Io is what the customer really needs, then the Io is a better choice although it won't deliver as much RT as a Kona configuration. On the G5 dual 2GHz expect to see 5 to 6 streams of RT;on the G5 dual 2.5 expect to see 7 to 8 streams of RT (you will need to be in RT extreme mode for these high RT stream counts). Io works ne on the faster g4 dual processor machines, but it s strongly recommended for new customers to use the dual processor G5 systems for maximum performance (since the G4 is no longer produced by Apple, the G5 /Io combination is the default). 4 -Hard Drive con gurations for Video:there are a number of unique and creative video storage options for uncompressed video,DV25,DV50 and DV100 video for the G4 and G5 in addition to the standard external SCSI or Fibre Storage with an HBA in one of the PCI slots.Th ese options include, but are
  • Analyzing IP Traffic Captured by Netsniff
  • NetSniff is a multi-network-layered real-time traffic capture and analysis tool developed as part of the ICE 3 project being run out of the Center for Advanced Internet Architectures (CAIA). NetSniff uses the PCAP library [11] to capture network traffic on a network interface or from a tcpdump [11] formatted file and parses the captured traffic at multiple network layers to produce a detailed set of statistics. Logfileparser is a complementary tool creating a database and filling it with the data captured by NetSniff. This database file can then be queried to obtain relevant statistics and generate graphical results using the R [7] software. This paper describes the procedures involved to install over a FreeBSD machine all software required to generate these results, as well as provide a brief tutorial in the usage of both lofileparser and R. The first section describes the installation and basic use of NetSniff. Section two outlines the installation of logfileparser and how to generate a database from the logfiles created by NetSniff, while Section 3 covers the installation and usage of R to generate graphical results. • Adding a New Language to VB .NET Globalization - Making the Case for the Kurdish Language
  • Developing programs for multiple languages used to be long and daunting tasks. Changing a program so it can be used in another language used to involve making major adjustments to the original program and sometimes used to require writing a totally different program for the new language. For example, developing a program in English and then changing it so it could be used in Arabic would take making major modifications to the original code, adding routines and introducing new tools to make the changes. The introduction of Visual Studio .NET has changed that drastically. Application developers can write programs in one language (say English) and then with minimum recoding, the programmers can adjust them so they could be displayed in another language (like Arabic). Processing of such changes is helped through the use of a list of languages supported in VS .NET (Finch, 2005). In other words, making modifications from one language to another is made easier because of a list of classes and routines for languages that are supported in VS .NET. However, this list of languages in VS .NET is incomplete and is missing many languages. Download Adding a New Language to VB .NET Globalization - Making the Case for the Kurdish Language

The MAPSTER interface is divided into several frames, indicated in the picture below: • Tab Frame - contains a number of functions to interact with the map and the map layers. The tab frame also provides access to the application's help file and background information. • Toolbar Frame - contains several tools used to interact with the map. • Map Frame - contains the interactive map. • Information Frame - displays information about the map and allows users to work with map layers.
  • PHP vs. Java
  • It isn't correct to compare Java to PHP. Since PHP is a server-side scripting language whereas Java is a general-purpose language. In other words, PHP is only used as a server-side language where Java is both for server-side and desktop programming language. Moreover, Java is compiled and strongly-typed language. On other hand, PHP is a dynamic typed language. Hence, only for server-side programming, the comparison between Java and PHP makes sense. In this paper, I am not discussing following two issues since each is currently hotly debated in various communities: • Strongly typed languages vs. dynamic Languages or Scripting • Ajax vs. Smart Clients Programmers - There are millions of bad programmers: Both Java and PHP programmers. - Everybody is a PHP programmer. Even monkeys! Almost all web hosting companies use Apache Server/PHP. - Changing or creating a page in PHP is easy. Creating a page: Use Drupal, WordPress, Xoops, Php-Nuke etc - For JSP (Java) it is also easy to change or create a page. However, for a complex application, monkeys cannot do programming in Java. Language features & libraries - Java is OO. So is PHP now (PHP 5.0). - Java Provides reflection (reverse-engineer classes, interfaces, functions). PHP is finally added the same feature in PHP 5.0. Note: Reflection enable you to architecture your application better. - Java has a richer set of API. - Java provides management API (JMX) for managing and monitoring devices and applications. - There thousands of OSS projects for Java (apache.org). Java provides a clean mechanism to combine these libraries (jar) to compose a complex application. - Java
