  • Feed Injection in Web 2.0
  • One new feature of "Web 2.0", the movement to build a more responsive Web, is the utilization of XML content feeds which use the RSS and Atom standards. These feeds allow both users and Web sites to obtain content headlines and body text without needing to visit the site in question, basically providing users with a summary of that sites content. Unfortunately, many of the applications that receive this data do not consider the security implications of using content from third parties and unknowingly make themselves and their attached systems susceptible to various forms of attack. This white paper discusses various forms of attacks based on Web feeds that follow the RSS, Atom and XML standards. This paper does not extensively cover each XML element and its usage within Web-based feeds, nor does it address other vulnerability scenarios such as buffer overflows and other XML- specific risks. The goal of this paper is to outline the risks of lesser-known threats which are currently emerging on the Web utilizing Cross-Site Scripting Web Feeds as Attack Vectors Browsers, local readers, Web sites and online portals such as Bloglines all subscribe to feeds. These applications automatically fetch new content at intervals defined either on the receiving client or by the feed itself. Once a user is subscribed, they are alerted to new entries where they can read the story title and usually a brief description of the story body. The RSS Specification states that story bodies (the tag) allow HTML entities in order to allow

Access provides an intuitive graphical user interface that enables you to create tables and insert, update, and delete data from the windows without using the SQL commands. However, to develop database applications using Java, you still have to learn and use SQL. This tutorial demonstrates using SQL with Access and developing Java programs for Access. 1 Creating a Database and Executing SQL Here are the steps to create a database and execute SQL statements from Microsoft Access: 1. Launch Microsoft Access database as shown in Figure 1.1. Check Blank Access database in the Create a new database section. Click OK to display the File New Database dialog box, as shown in Figure 1.2. Create and select the directory book in the Save in field and type exampleMDB.mdb in the File name field. Click Create to create a new database. The exampleMDB database is created as shown in Figure 1.3. Download PDF for Tutorial for MS Access For Introduction to Java Programming, 5E

  • Volvo Penta Quality Line Marine Water Heaters Owners Manual
  • Congratulations on your choice of a new QL Water Heater. A choice that will help you bring out the best in boating pleasure. To give you the best benefit of the product and to facilitate your installation, we kindly ask you to follow the recommendations and instructions below. The QL Water Heaters are built with materials that withstand the rigors of the marine environment. Being an electrical appliance, the Water Heater should be installed in a ventilated location where it will not be subjected to humidity and external water spray. All QL Water Heaters are insulated with high efficiency, auto extinguishable cellular polyurethane. The distance between the engine and the Water Heater should be as short as possible. Locate the Water Heater in an accessible position so that the water connections, pressure relief/non return valve and electrical heating element (30 cm long) remain accessible. Install the Water Heater in a ventilated location in order to prevent sweating which might be mistaken for water loss. The Water Heater should be firmly secured with mounting brackets to a solid structure using bolts, nuts and lock washers. Bear in mind that the total weight of the Water Heater is its weight plus all the water it contains. The Water Heater can be mounted either horizontally or vertically to bulkhead, deckhead or floor. The hot water outlet is placed in the far, top end of the bowl to ensure that the warmest possible water is used at every time even when vertically mounted. Before mounting check the information on
  • Ruby Programming - Delightful Languages
  • This is a brief recounting of my initial impressions of and experience with the Ruby programming language and its community. In many ways Ruby strikes the same chord in me that Perl did a decade or more ago. I show Ruby from a Perl perspective. When I first encountered Perl, I found the language to be a little strange coming from a C background. From time to time I would use Perl to write things I would have written in C or shell, and soon Perl was my tool of choice for many tasks. Ruby is having a similar effect on me. Sometimes I prototype Perl code in Ruby, sometimes I just use Ruby for the sake of seeing if I arrive at a different solution using a di?erent language. Like Perl, Ruby makes programming fun, but in a different way. Ruby borrows features from many languages, and one of those is Perl. I can simply translate Perl code into Ruby if I want. I will use the Soundex function as an example, as the algorithm is simple and my Perl implementation will reveal something about my abilities as a programmer. The Soundex algorithm is a simple hashing of the letters of a word to a four character code which brings similar sounding words to the same code. In 1994 I posted a routine, shown in code listing 1, to comp.lang.perl which shows both the simplicity of the Soundex algorithm and my Perl style at its worst (or best). Download pdf
