  • The Web 2.0 Driven SECI Model Based Learning Process
  • Nonaka and his knowledge transformation model SECI revolutionized the thinking about organizations as social learning systems. He introduced technical concepts like hypertext into organizational theory. Now, after 15 years Web 2.0 concepts seem to be an ideal fit with Nonaka’s SECI approach opening new doors for more personal, dynamic, and social learning on a global scale. In this paper, we present an extended view of blended learning which includes the combination of formal and informal learning, knowledge management, and Web 2.0 concepts into one integrated solution, by discussing what we call the Web 2.0 driven SECI model based learning process. Peter Drucker, among others, argues that in the emerging economy, knowledge is the primary resource for individuals and for the economy overall; land, labor, and capital. He further argues that improving front-line worker productivity is the greatest challenge of the 21st century [1]. Realizing that knowledge and competence have become increasingly critical to their continued success, organizations worldwide are spending upwards of $ 2.2 trillion dollars on training and education measures, which have become integral to any organization for it to remain competitive [2]. Over the last decade, it has been widely argued that e-Learning could respond to accelerating global competition, increase the quality of learning experiences, remove situational barriers, be more cost effective, and transform the way we learn. However, despite isolated achievements, the success record was on the whole not very encouraging and e-Learning did not succeed to revolutionize our education and learning processes [3][4]. • Buying Tires Guide: How to Get the Right Tire for You
  • Due to the large number of factors involved (such as speed, road conditions, inflation, vehicle maintenance, your driving habits, temperature), it is impossible to predict a firm figure for expected tread life. Tires should be inspected regularly and replaced when the tire is worn down. 1. Checking for Wear Tires are worn out when there is just 1.6-mm (2/32-inch) tread depth remaining. This can be measured with an inexpensive tread depth gauge, available at most auto supply stores. In the absence of a gauge, here are two quick methods to check to see if your tires are worn down to the point of replacement. A. The Tire Wear Bars Tires are manufactured with “wear bars” (see Figure 1) that indicate when there is less than 1.6 mm (2/32 inch) of tread depth remaining. When the tread is worn down to the point that the wear bars are flush with the tread, the tire must be replaced. Figure 1: Tire Wear Bars Exposed Wear Bars (replace the tire) B. The Penny Test The Rubber Association of Canada suggests this simple test to measure the tread depth on your tires. Place a penny into a tread groove with the Queen’s head down and facing you. If you can see the tips of the crown, it’s time for a new tire. Figure 2: The Penny Test Crown Fully Exposed (replace the tire) The Autosmart Fact Series 2. Understand Your Tire Needs Tires are manufactured in an overwhelming array of types and designs. Getting

  • Getting Started with Freeway Shop in a Box
  • Of the many innovations the Internet has brought us, one of the most visible is online shopping. The advantages for merchants are clear lower overheads in both staff and shop space, provision of greater convenience for their customers, 24/7 and international availability of the store, and the ability to compete on a far more level playing field with larger companies. The spread of internet shopping sites is a testament to all of these. However, the implementation of an online store has often been difficult, especially for the individual user. A catalogue needs to be presented allowing customers to select products to buy, these product choices must be tracked (usually in the form of the common shopping cart), and all-importantly, a secure way of processing the customer’s payment details is vital. As is often the case, a demand for services rapidly begets solutions, and there are now numerous companies that offer these services for integration into a website. PayPal, Verisign, and Authorize.Net are well- known companies who provide secure credit card processing services. Many companies who provide shopping carts link with these (and other) credit card processors. One of the better of the shopping carts is Mal’s e-commerce (http://www.mals-e.com) which provides two packages: a free service offering integration with PayPal, NoChex and Paymate, and a premium service offering integration with VeriSign, Authorize.Net and a wide variety of other credit card processors. And now, using the power of Freeway’s Actions technology, you can take advantage of Mal’s shopping cart to quickly create your own online store.

  • A Fast Track Guide to ASP.NET - Chapter 1
  • Microsoft's .NET technology has attracted a great deal of press since Beta 1 was first released to the world. Since then, mailing lists, newsgroups, and web sites have sprung up containing a mixture of code samples, applications, and articles of various forms. Even if you're not a programmer using existing ASP technology, it's a good bet that you've at least heard of .NET, even if you aren't quite sure what it involves. After all, there's so much information about .NET, that it's sometimes hard to filter out what you need from what's available. With new languages, new designers, and new ways of programming, you might wonder exactly what you need to write ASP.NET applications. That's where this chapter comes in, because we are going to explain exactly what is required, and how we go about using it. The aim is to get you up and running, able to write simple ASP.NET pages as quickly as possible, and give you a solid grounding in the basics of the new framework. This will not only benefit existing ASP programmers, but also people who haven't used ASP, including Visual Basic programmers who need to write web applications. ASP.NET makes the whole job much easier whatever your skill set. So, in particular we are going to be looking at: - Installing and testing ASP.NET - The benefits of the new technology - The basic differences between ASP and ASP.NET - The new programming model - The rich hierarchy of server controls We start with the simple discussion of why ASP.NET has come about Download
  • AUTO-CODE Mill Tutorial 1
  • This drawing is ready to use in AUTO-CODE. The part is positioned so that the lower left corner of the rectangle is at 1,1. The contours are drawn as polylines and the drill holes are drawn as circles. All the layers for dimensions and notes can be turned off to reduce the clutter or they may remain on while AUTO-CODE is running. For this tutorial we will be turning them off. In AutoCAD, select the layer control list and freeze the layers that are not used for programming the part. To freeze the layers, change the sun icon into a snowflake. The only layers you will need for this tutorial are 0 and DefPoints. After turning off the extra layers, you should only see the top and side views of the part. We are going to focus on the top view only. Starting with a 4 by 6 by ½ inch stock material, the part will be clamped along the top and bottom edges. It is not necessary to show the clamps in AUTO-CODE. It is necessary that you know where they are located relative to the drawing. For this basic part, we are going to drill the five holes indicated by circles and then cut out the rectangular area in the center using a half-inch end mill. The drill holes will be 3/8” (0.375”) in diameter. With the drawing open, the next step is to launch AUTO-CODE. Download
