  • Web Services Description Language (WDSL), originally developed by IBM, Microsoft, and others, is an XML format for technical description of Web services. In this tutorial, Mike Olson and Uche Ogbuji introduce WSDL4Py, an open-source Python library for WSDL 1.1 hosted by IBM developerWork's open-source zone. Usage of the library is explained, as well as discussion of its development. Setting up WSDL4Py The prerequisites for using the WSDL4Py library and the examples in this tutorial are as follows: *A working knowledge of the Python programming language, and WSDL. *Python: version 2.0 or more recent is highly recommended, but 1.5.2 will work as well. *4Suite: version 0.11 or more recent. The software should work under UNIX and Windows. Unfortunately, Macintosh users must wait for someone to port the XPath library of 4Suite to that platform, or wait for 4Suite-0.11.1 that will have a pure Python XPath parser Installation is quite simple. Download and unpack the archive, then run the command python setup.py install, which will copy the library to the appropriate location in your PYTHONPATH. Start Concord by double-clicking the Concord icon on the Windows desktop. 2. If the Select Books dialog box appears, click the checkbox next to Science and Health. Click OK 3. If the Select Book(s) dialog box does not appear, your copy of Concord has been set to automatically open some or all of the Concord books. From the Book menu, select Add or Remove Books.   • In this tutorial you will use 3D Studio Max 6 and reactor to set up a physics simulation. Using these animation tools you will create a wrecking ball (swinging chain with heavy ball on the end used to break things, see figure 1). This tutorial will touch on some of the key elements to remember when using reactor. After completing this tutorial you will be able to create chains and hopefully you will avoid common mistakes that often frustrate people when using these techniques. This tutorial will give you the knowledge to explore and experiment with most of the reactor tools. If used properly, reactor is a powerful tool. To Get Started: It Only Takes One, Create the Chain-Link Step 1. Open 3D Studio Max 6, or if it is already open, reset the scene. Step 2. To start, draw a Torus in the front view-port. Radius 1 should be 60. Radius 2 should be 6. Use 26 segments and 15 sides. The parameter’s roll out should look like figure 2 Step 3. Now convert the torus into an editable poly and activate the vertex sub-object. Step 4. Now drag-select the top half of the torus. This will select the vertices on the top of Torus01. Select the move tool. Move these vertices up to create the shape of a chain link. In the picture below the vertices were moved 72 units up. See Figure 3 for an example of this step.   • The CellPipe 20A is a high-speed Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) device that supports bridging over ATM. It supports RFC1483 Multiprotocol over AAL5. You can use the CellPipe 20A to create a dedicated, physical connection to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment at the telephone company. You first attach your computer or Ethernet hub to the CellPipe 20A. Then, you connect the unit to a standard telephone line. The other end of the line connects to DSL equipment at the telephone company. Your DSL circuit is dedicated to your CellPipe unit. With DSL, you have the capacity to transfer data at very high rates. The actual rate can vary according to the type of CellPipe you use, the distance between the CellPipe and the DSL equipment, and the line quality of the connection.
