Web (2.0) Mining: Analyzing Social MediaThe past few years have seen the advent of Web-based social media systems such as blogs, wikis, media-sharing sites and message forums. Such Web2.0 systems have a significant amount of user generated content, and have become an important new way to publish information, engage in discussions and form communities on the Internet. Their reach and impact is significant with tens of millions of people providing content on a regular basis around the world. Governments, corporations, traditional media companies and NGOs are working to understand how to adapt to them and use them effectively.
Citizens, both young and old, are also discovering how social media technology can improve their lives and give them more voice in the world. We must better under- stand the information ecology of these new publication methods in order to make them and the information they provide more useful, trustworthy and reliable. Doing this requires mining such systems to find communities based on a combination of topic, bias, and underlying beliefs; authors and blogs are most influential within a given community; from where do particular beliefs or ideas originate and how do they spread; what are the most trustworthy sources of information about a particular topic; and what opinions and beliefs characterize a community and how do these opinions change. The Blogosphere is part of the Web and therefore shares most of it’s general characteristics. All too many projects to improve the usability of a user interface start with a request to create a style guide. To many user-centered designers, a style guide is the documentation of a design – the end of a design process – not a starting point for usability. And yet, we continue to create them, despite that fact that they may do little to address real usability problems or create a common approach to interaction. This paper describes some tactics and techniques for creating style guides that present and organize the appropriate information in a usable structure.

Meeting Manager supports a variety of platforms, operating systems, and browsers. Meeting Manager supports various Windows and Macintosh operating systems. It also supports many permutations of browser versions within those operating systems. The table on the following page shows which operating systems and browser versions Meeting Manager supports. If you do not know your machine’s configuration, refer to this guide’s remaining sections for instructions on how to check your configuration.
Macintosh users should note that Meeting Manager supports Macintosh users to view meetings and control applications shared by Windows users. Beyond that core functionality, there are several known limitations. The limitations are described in the table on the following page. A commonly accepted top level ontology for user and context models is of great importance for the user modeling and context research community. This ontology should be represented in a modern semantic web language like OWL and thus be available for all user-adaptive systems at the same time via internet. The major advantage would be the simplification for exchanging user model and context data between different user-adaptive systems.
However, the current trends of web 2.0 and social computing tell us that the users like to create their own tag spaces, naming conventions and taxonomies. The masses of tagging, rating and even blogging define a kind of ”wisdom of the crowds”. Now the question arises how this new bottom-up approach can be combined with the more top-down approach of ontology engineering. Does a revisiting of a domain ontology like the user model and context ontology GUMO make sense? There are two directions of mutual influence possible.
