  • What is Solid Edge 2D Drafting? Solid Edge® 2D Drafting is a full functioning and fully associative 2D Drafting software package created by UGS – Solid Edge. How long does it take to download Solid Edge 2D Drafting from the download web page? The download time is dependant on your internet connection speed. Solid Edge 2D Drafting is downloaded as a self extracting executable and is about 250MB in size. It is suggested that you have a fast internet connection to download the product. How much disk space do I need to download and install Solid Edge 2D Drafting? Solid Edge 2D Drafting is a self extracting executable that you download. The size of the downloaded executable is about 250MB. When the executable is run you will need an additional 250MB of temporary space for installation and the installed product size is about 600MB. Does Solid Edge 2D Drafting use associative geometry and dimensions? Solid Edge 2D Drafting is fully associative. The associativity can be turned on and off. With the associativity turned on, making changes to geometry and dimensions will modify connected dimensions and geometry accordingly. The drawing does not fall apart when modifying the geometry. To turn on the associativity, click on Maintain Relationships from the Tools menu. Ensure that there is a check mark beside Maintain Relationships. See the following image. I create schematic drawings. Does Solid Edge 2D Drafting provide a library of schematic symbols I can use to produce these drawings? Solid Edge 2D Drafting comes equipped with hundreds of standard symbols for

  • How to enable the GD Library on your Testing Server
  • Many features that you see on the web require that the GD library be enabled on your PHP server. You may need the GD library if you are attempting to display CAPTCHA graphics somewhere on your site. In a default PHP installation, the GD library should already be enabled. The following How To explains how to determine if the GD library is enabled on your PHP server, and how you might be able to turn this on. What Do You Need to Start? • PHP Testing Server Is GD turned on? You can check to see if the GD library is enabled by creating a simple phpinfo page on your web server. 1. Create a new file called phpinfo.php 2. Open this file in Notepad, or your preferred WYSIWYG editor such as Dreamweaver. 3. Add the following line of code. 4. Save your file within your local web server. 5. Open a web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. 6. In the Address bar, enter the URL to this file. Typically, on your local testing server, this will be http://localhost/phpinfo.php. 7. If the GD library is enabled, the resulting page should display the following section. Installing GD Below are a few common examples on how to install GD. Windows Server users 1. Open your PHP.ini file in Notepad, or your preferred WYSIWYG editor. This file is normally located in the C:Windows directory. 2. Locate the following line. ;extension=php_gd2.dll 3. Remove the preceding semicolon (;) to enable the option. 4. Save your file. 5. Restart the web server. Ubuntu Linux users 1. Run the following command to install GD. sudo apt-get install php5-gd 2. Restart
  • Calling C Library DLLs from C#
  • The .NET framework was designed to be the “lingua franca” for Windows development, with the expectation that it will set a new standard for building integrated software for Windows. However, it is inevitable that there is a time lag before .NET is fully adopted and existing applications are recoded. In particular, there is a large body of legacy code that will likely never be rewritten in .NET. To address this situation, Microsoft provides attributes, assembly, and marshaling. At the Numerical Algorithms Group (where I work), our particular interest in using these techniques is to utilize numerical software developed in C from within the .NET environment. Because C# is the premier .NET language, the examples I present here are in C#. While I use an example of data types that are current in the NAG C Library, the techniques I present are general enough for calling unmanaged code written in C from C# directly. The NAG C Library uses the following data types as parameters: • Scalars of type double, int, and Complex. These are passed either by value or by reference (as pointers to the particular type). • enum types. • Arrays of type double, int, and Complex. • A large number of structures, generally passed as pointers. • A few instance of arrays which are allocated within NAG routines and have to be freed by users (these have type double**). • Function parameters (also know as “callbacks”). These are pointers to functions with particular signatures. For instance, take the example of a C function that takes
  • A Practical Guide to Using Computers in Language Teaching
  • Computers—the most powerful dimension of the second or foreign language learning experience since the advent of the teacher—serve as tireless portals to limitless target language models and, more important for the classroom, as tools for activities that draw students together to cooperate on activities that interest them and stimulate their creative language production and comprehension, all while challenging them to overcome obstacles in a complex environment in the target language. In the computer-assisted language learning (CALL) classroom, students don’t study language as much as use it to cooperate and solve problems not unique to the language classroom. If we recognize the value in the process more than product, then we can appreciate that when a CALL class activity gets messy, and it does, it’s realistic: It reflects real language use and life in general with unforeseen problems and the need for creative solutions using a tool central to modern life. What are the greatest obstacles to realizing this learning potential of the CALL classroom? 1. Users not appreciating these challenges in the process as being valuable to language use and therefore learning. These challenges may take many forms for students: • following verbal and written instruction • needing to gain comprehension in one step in order to get to the next • consulting each other for clarification • helping struggling neighbors with secondary instruction • translating concepts (activity ideas) into action (specific procedures) • working through challenges and problems with language and procedures • being immersed in the target language on screen, content, and interface 2. Teachers not being adequately oriented

  • DOLFIN User Manual
  • DOLFIN is implemented as a C++ library and can be used either as a stand- alone solver, or as a tool for the development and implementation of new methods. To simplify usage and emphasize structure, DOLFIN is organized into three levels of abstraction, referred to as kernel level, module level, and user level, as shown in Figure 1.1. Core features, such as the automatic evaluation of variational forms and adaptive mesh refinement, are implemented as basic tools at kernel level. At module level, new solvers/modules can be assembled from these basic tools and integrated into the system. At user level, a model of the form is specified and solved, either using one of the built-in solvers/modules or by direct usage of the basic tools. This chapter demonstrates how to get started with DOLFIN, including downloading and installing the latest version of DOLFIN, and solving Poisson’s equation. These topics are discussed in more detail elsewhere in this manual. In particular, see Appendix B for detailed installation instructions and Chap- ter 7 for a detailed discussion of how to solve partial differential equations with DOLFIN. • C Sharp Programming
  • Although C# is derived from the C programming language, it has features such as garbage collection that allow beginners to become proficient in C# more quickly than in C or C++. Similar to Java, it is object-oriented, comes with an extensive class library, and supports exception handling, multiple types of polymorphism, and separation of interfaces from implementations. Those features, combined with its powerful development tools, multi-platform support, and generics, make C# a good choice for many types of software development projects: rapid application development projects, projects implemented by individuals or large or small teams, Internet applications, and projects with strict reliability requirements. Testing frameworks such as NUnit make C# am enable to test-driven development and thus a good language for use with Extreme Programming (XP). Its strong typing helps to prevent many programming errors that are common in weakly typed languages.
