  • Microsoft Compound Document File Format
  • This document contains a description of the binary format of Microsoft Compound Document files. Compound document files are used to structure the contents of a document in the file. It is possible to divide the data into several streams, and to store these streams in different storages in the file. This way compound document files support a complete file system inside the file, the streams are like files in a real file system, and the storages are like sub directories. Compound document files work similar to real file systems. They contain a number of independent data streams (like files in a file system) which are organised in a hierarchy of storages (like sub directories in a file system). Storages and streams are named. The names of all storages and streams that are direct members of a storage must be different. Names of streams or storages that are members of different storages may be equal. Each compound document file contains a root storage that is the direct or indirect parent of all other storages and streams. Example of a storage/stream hierarchy. The names of all direct members of a storage must be different, but it is possible that two different storages contain a stream named “Stream1”. Download pdf Microsoft Compound Document File Format
  • Hitachi-LG GDR3120L Tutorial
  • The outer Xbox 360 “shell” is entirely screwless. Plastic friction tabs hold the case together. There are many different tutorials for opening the Xbox 360, with different methods. Here are some links to “opening the Xbox 360” tutorials. I decided not to cover opening the Xbox 360 in this tutorial since it is already long enough and there are many other tutorials for opening the Xbox 360. Notes: - The Anandtech guide says you need to use a Torx 12 screwdriver. There is no such thing. You need a Torx 10 screwdriver. - Removing the grey side grill on the hard drive side is a little tricky. The first friction tab is actually inaccessible from the top holes in the case, so you need to stick your screwdriver in the hole by where the hard drive button is and unclip it. (See Pic) - In order to push in the back clips, you can do one of two things. You can use a thin metal object such as a precision flathead screwdriver / bobby pin / paperclip OR you can make an opening “key” out of a CD spindle case. The key would not work for me, it was too flimsy, but it works for some people. You can purchase an “unlock kit.” - If all you want to do is just flash the firmware, you only need to remove the six long screws on the bottom. (See Pic) Read all these guides and watch all the videos, figure out how you want to go

  • Tips and Tricks For Using AutoCAD 2008 Software User Interface New 3D Workspace If you are using only 2D AutoCAD® commands, why not use the new 2D Drafting & Annotation workspace? This capability displays powerful 2D tools on the Dashboard. 3D Dashboard Control Panels New 2D control panels provide easy access to layers and include controls for annotation scaling, text, dimensions, multiple leaders, tables, 2D navigation commands, object properties, and block attributes. When you select a tool from the Dashboard, the corresponding tool palette also displays, where applicable. User Interface Tool Palettes When you drag geometry to an inactive tool palette, it is automatically activated for easy placement—just give it an extra second to switch. • A new Specify Image option on the shortcut menu makes it easy to assign an image to any tool. • The location of tools on a tool palette is now saved in the tool catalog (and the profile), making it easier to share your tool palettes with others and maintain the same look and feel. • Use TPNAVIGATE to set a tool palette current at the command line (for programming purposes). Clean Screen Use the Clean Screen button located in the lower-right corner of the screen to turn off everything except for the status and menu bars and the command window. This feature comes in handy when showing files to a client and you need to quickly clean up your interface. • Google Desktop Query API Developer Guide
  • The Query API described in the first part of this document was introduced with Google Desktop 3. We cover how to use it with both native plug-ins and script-based plug-ins, and assume that you are familiar with the general principles of how to write Desktop plug-ins. The latter part of this document describes methods for issuing Desktop search queries using HTTP and XML. This XML-based API is supported by both the Windows and Mac OS X versions of Google Desktop. Mac OS X support was added in Google Desktop Mac 1.0.3. You can only use the Query API if you have registered with it and thus obtained a Query API registration cookie. Note that this is in addition to the general registration of your plug-in with Google Desktop. There are two types of Query API registration cookies, read-only and read-write. Usually, you'll only need a read-only cookie. The read-write cookie is only needed when you remove an item from the Google Desktop index. We recommend that your plug-in encrypt the registration cookie when it saves it, and, of course, be able to decrypt it when you pass it to the various Query API methods and objects. You'll need a global identifier (GUID) for your plug-in to pass to the registration method. You can use a tool such as guidgen.exe to generate. Download pdf Google Desktop Query API Developer Guide
  • PaintFx - Plasma Membrane Animation Techniques
  • This tutorial will take you through the process of creating an animated plasma membrane using Maya's unique Paint Effects module. Much of the tutorial will be focused on how to create a custom brush starting with the Paint Effects base brushes that ship with Maya. Paint Effects are ideal for situations in which a very large number of objects need to be seen from a distance (in this particular situation, the number of lipids on the surface of the membrane). Lets start by designing the brush. Creating a Base Stroke Designing a custom Paint Effects brush requires the adjustment of a myriad sliders and attributes. The process is not terribly straight-forward. The best way to learn is get an idea of how the paint effects controls work and then experiment. As you gain experience you'll find yourself becoming more comfortable with creating brushes. However, no matter how much experience you have, working with Paint Effects will almost always come down to trial and error with all of the various settings. This section of the tutorial is a walk-through of a typical custom brush design exercise. I will explain the controls that I use and what I hope to achieve when adjusting their settings. There are many ways to create a particular effect using a brush, the methods I describe are just a few. 1. Create a new Maya scene, this scene will be the devoted to designing the brush, once you have something satisfactory, you can export the brush from here to any
  • SAP Help Guide: Time Zones Tutorial
  • Use Processes which cover more than one time zone primarily affect logistic functions such as availability checks, production planning, delivery scheduling, statistics and service provision, but they also affect financial accounting in areas such as treasury, inter-company transactions, and so on. This function enables you to use dates and times that are comparable and exchangeable in applications that are implemented worldwide. For time-related applications, the SAP system can use local dates and times for proposed dates and validations (for example, to ensure that a requested delivery date is not in the past). Time Zone Management in Global Systems Global Application Generally, users think and act in terms of their local time, and they also expect to use their local time in business transactions. When the SAP System is used for global transactions that span time zones, business partners and systems will have different local times. These differences in local times can lead to problems such as late postings and missed batch runs. Download SAP Help Guide: Time Zones Tutorial

  • A Rough Google Earth Guide
  • Google Earth is a virtual globe program, allowing viewers to visualize data on top of displayed satellite images of the Earth’s surface. Launched in 2005 and released to the public in 2006, Google Earth fast became a household name hailed as a revolution for humanitarian development, much as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were several decades ago. According to MapAction, “There seem at present tobe two distinct groups of humanitarian practitioners: those who are already, albeit tentatively, exploiting Google Earth and related geospatial methods in their work, and those whowill be, as soon as they see their first demonstration of its potential.” (MapAction, 2008: 9) As a geospatial program installed on the computer, Google Earth users have access to detailed imagery constantly downloaded, as different areas are panned or zoomed. It is possible to use Google Earth without an internet connection, but functionality is limited to low resolution satellite imagery, imagery cached on the computer from recent use, and locally saved KML (Keyhold Markup Language) files. Google started the ‘Google Earth Outreach’ program in 2007 to help US and Europe-based non-profit organizations use Google Earth and Maps in their work. This program provides tutorials and case studies online, granting Google Earth Pro licenses to qualifying organizations interested in using Google Earth. Using This Guide There are currently several versions of Google Earth offered, ranging from a free Basic, to a Professional version available for US$400. This guide is designed for those who are using Google Earth Basic 4.2 for PC, and some notes may not apply to
