  • AutoCAD® 2004 Tutorial Second Level: 3D Modeling Manual
  • The AutoCAD surface modeler defines faceted surfaces using a filled polygon. The created faces of surface models are only planar, which means the surface models can only have approximate curved surfaces. It is important to note that the AutoCAD surface modeler does not create true curved surfaces. To differentiate these two types of surfaces, faceted surfaces are called meshes in AutoCAD. Because of the use of faceted approximation on true curved surfaces, the computer requirements of most faceted surface modelers are typically much less than that of solid modelers. Faceted surface modeling usually provides reasonably good representations of 3D designs with fast rendering and shading capabilities. Faceted surface models are also useful for creating geometry with unusual surface patterns, such as a 3D topographical model of mountainous terrain. • Buying Tires Guide: How to Get the Right Tire for You
  • Due to the large number of factors involved (such as speed, road conditions, inflation, vehicle maintenance, your driving habits, temperature), it is impossible to predict a firm figure for expected tread life. Tires should be inspected regularly and replaced when the tire is worn down. 1. Checking for Wear Tires are worn out when there is just 1.6-mm (2/32-inch) tread depth remaining. This can be measured with an inexpensive tread depth gauge, available at most auto supply stores. In the absence of a gauge, here are two quick methods to check to see if your tires are worn down to the point of replacement. A. The Tire Wear Bars Tires are manufactured with “wear bars” (see Figure 1) that indicate when there is less than 1.6 mm (2/32 inch) of tread depth remaining. When the tread is worn down to the point that the wear bars are flush with the tread, the tire must be replaced. Figure 1: Tire Wear Bars Exposed Wear Bars (replace the tire) B. The Penny Test The Rubber Association of Canada suggests this simple test to measure the tread depth on your tires. Place a penny into a tread groove with the Queen’s head down and facing you. If you can see the tips of the crown, it’s time for a new tire. Figure 2: The Penny Test Crown Fully Exposed (replace the tire) The Autosmart Fact Series 2. Understand Your Tire Needs Tires are manufactured in an overwhelming array of types and designs. Getting
  • Adobe Flex 2 Programming ActionScript 3.0
  • This manual provides a foundation for developing applications in ActionScript 3.0. To best understand the ideas and techniques described, you should already be familiar with general programming concepts such as data types, variables, loops, and functions. You should also understand basic object-oriented programming concepts like classes and inheritance. Prior knowledge of ActionScript 1.0 or ActionScript 2.0 is helpful but not necessary. The manual contains numerous sample files for important or commonly used classes to demonstrate application programming concepts for those APIs. Sample files are packaged in ways to make them easier to load and use with Adobe® Flex™ Builder 2 and may include wrapper files. However, the core sample code is pure ActionScript 3.0 that you can use in whichever development environment you prefer. ActionScript 3.0 can be written and compiled a number of ways, including: ? Using the Adobe Flex Builder 2 development environment ? Using any text editor and a command-line compiler, such as the one provided with Flex Builder 2 ? Using the Adobe® Flash® CS3 authoring tool from Adobe For more information about ActionScript development environments Download Adobe Flex 2 Programming ActionScript 3.0
  • AED Challenge User Guide and Administrator Guide
  • AED Challenge is a training tool that provides a computer-simulated environment for practicing automated external defibrillation (AED) skills. It gives realistic practice to students who are learning to use an AED and helps experienced AED users keep their skills sharp. AED Challenge simulates a variety of sudden cardiac arrest scenarios. Your objective is to provide rapid treatment and defibrillation. The program gives advice, feedback, and scores performance. AED Challenge gives defibrillation-trained personnel quality practice whenever it is needed. AED Challenge follows the 2005 American Heart Association (AHA) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) AED Challenge was designed for review and practice of AED protocol knowledge by emergency responders. It is not a self-instructional program. It is intended to supplement training conducted by a qualified instructor and supervised by a licensed physician. This application is not a replacement for initial hands-on training using an actual device. The treatment recommendations contained in this application meet national and international guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated defibrillation. It is not intended to be a substitute for device operating instructions and local protocols. Download pdf AED Challenge User Guide and Administrator Guide
  • AutoCAD 2000 in 3D - A Monkish Shot Tower Tutorial Manual
  • This tutorial introduces the concepts and techniques used to build 3D models in AutoCAD 2000. As a vehicle for learning these techniques, we develop a model of a whimsical structure that I have called the Monkish Shot Tower after a group of imaginary Monks who have refined the technology of manufacturing lead shot for firearms, and the like. The tower is designed around the perfect number 7, features an external spiral stair, an elaborate canopy on top, and a hole down the centre. The final structure is illustrated in Figure 1 below. This tutorial will introduce the following concepts and techniques: • simple solid modelling with solid primitives & CSG operations (the tower); • construction of complex solid objects (stair and landing); • user coordinate systems and positioning of objects (external stairs); • advanced use of the CSG operations (tapering the stairs); • simple surface modelling (the roof canopy and handrails); • surface modelling versus solid modelling (the handrails); • meshed surfaces (the landing “sails” for shading). • Life After Word 2003 An Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007
  • Welcome to Life After Word 2003. This manual will serve as both an introduction to Microsoft Word 2007, as well as a guide to better assist your transition from Word 2003 to Word 2007. The bulk of this publication will be a “How to” manual presenting the fundamental steps in Word 2007, but will also include tables at the end of each section comparing the steps you took in Word 2003 to the steps you will now take in Word 2007. While Microsoft has made some noticeable changes to their latest release of Office, we hope that with the assistance of this guide your transition will not be too intimidating. The instructions in this document are assuming that all settings are the defaults. If you have changed any of the settings in Word 2007, the images and instructions may be somewhat different. The images you see in the following document were taken on a Windows Vista PC using Microsoft Word 2007. WHAT’S NEW Word 2007 presents a new user-interface which is quite different than previous versions of Word. This section will provide you with some basic information about the new look and features available in Word 2007 in order to help you get started. The Ribbon • The Ribbon - Upon launching Word 2007 for the first time the most noticeable change is likely Microsoft’s replacement of the traditional toolbars and menus with the Ribbon. The Ribbon presents you with a panel of commands which are organized into a set of tabs (known as the
