  • WWRE Auctions User Configuration Guide
  • The WWRE has developed a recommended minimum set of technical requirements to help ensure the best possible performance of the Auctions application. The following section outlines the minimum recommended computer requirements for the WWRE®’s member companies and their trading partners. The first two sections, “Internet Access” and “Hardware”, outline recommendations that are to some extent flexible. For example, the WWRE recommends a computer with a CPU clock speed of 400 MHz. This means that a computer with a CPU clock speed of 366 MHz can be used, but it may result in a slight degradation in performance. The reverse applies as well. A computer with a faster clock speed, more memory, or a faster dedicated network connection should also experience better than average performance. The sections titled “Operating Systems” and “Browsers” are less flexible. These sections outline specific information on the supported Internet browsers and machine operating systems for the Auctions application. Using a browser or operating system outside of the supported list could result in application anomalies or errors Download pdf WWRE Auctions User Configuration Guide

  • Chart FX Shines for Silverlight TM Today
  • Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2008 introduces a whole new set of .NET technologies that will revolutionize, once again, the way you develop smart client and web-based applications; the most notable being LINQ, WPF and, of course, Silverlight. For most of us working in and around web application development in the business world, Silverlight is a big step forward; especially if you consider that it provides clean coding practices with extensible languages (e.g. XAML and C#). It also provides some of Visual Studio’s rich programming model that we have become accustomed to and can no longer live without; such as class libraries, debugging capabilities and IntelliSense among many others. Silverlight (especially from 1.1 onwards) can be used by .NET developers to create cross platform browser-based content with genuinely interactive client-side functionality that doesn't rely on a sticky tape of AJAX. Microsoft has been working diligently with third party vendors, like Software FX, to open Silverlight to the vast goodwill that Microsoft partners have to offer. Unfortunately, much of this effort has not been exposed yet as most vendors continue their Silverlight and Visual Studio 2008 integration efforts. At Software FX, we couldn’t wait to put our hands on Silverlight and try to build a Chart FX version that you could work with today. In the end, we were able to implement a Silverlight solution based on Chart FX 7 which will allow you to take advantage of tomorrow’s technology with tools you are familiar with today. In addition, this paper will help you understand
  • Specifying, Discovering, and Monitoring Service Flows: Making Web Services Process-Aware
  • Web services, an emerging paradigm for architecting and implementing business collaborations within and across organizational boundaries, are currently of interest to both software vendors and scientists. In this paradigm, the functionality provided by business applications is encapsulated within web services: software components described at a semantic level, which can be invoked by application programs or by other services through a stack of Internet standards including HTTP, XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI [3,18]. Once deployed, web services provided by various organizations can be inter-connected in order to implement business collaborations, leading to composite web services. Today workflow management systems are readily available [6,49,59] and workflow technology is hidden in many applications, e.g., ERP, CRM, and PDM systems. However, their application is still limited to specific industries such as banking and insurance. Since 2000 there has been a growing interest in web services. This resulted in a stack of Internet standards (HTTP, XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI) which needed to be complemented by a process layer. Several vendors proposed competing languages, e.g., IBM proposed WSFL (Web Services Flow Language) [48] building on FlowMark/MQSeries and Microsoft proposed XLANG (Web Services for Business Process Design) [71] building on Biztalk. BPEL [16] emerged as a compromise between both languages. The Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS, or BPEL for short) has become the de-facto standard for implementing processes based on web services [16]. Systems such as Oracle BPEL Process Manager, IBM WebSphere Application Server Enterprise, IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition, and Microsoft BizTalk
  • Hands-On Python A Tutorial Introduction for Beginners
  • Although Python is a high-level language, it is not English or some other natural human language. The Python translator does not understand “add the numbers two and three”. Python is a formal language with its own specific rules and formats, which these tutorials will introduce gradually, at a pace intended for a beginner. These tutorials are also appropriate for beginners because they gradually introduce fundamental logical programming skills. Learning these skills will allow you to much more easily program in other languages besides Python. Some of the skills you will learn are • breaking down problems into manageable parts • building up creative solutions • making sure the solutions are clear for humans • making sure the solutions also work correctly on the computer. Guiding Principals for the Hands-on Python Tutorials: • The best way to learn is by active participation. Information is principally introduced in small quantities, where your active participation, experiencing Python, is assumed. In many place you will only be able to see what Python does by doing it yourself (in a hands-on fashion). The tutorial will often not show. Among the most common and important words in the tutorial are “Try this:” • Other requests are for more creative responses. Sometimes there are Hints, which end up as hyperlinks in the web page version, and footnote references in the pdf version. Both formats should encourage you to think actively about your response first before looking up the hint. The tutorials also provide labeled exercises, for further practice, without immediate answers provided. The exercises
  • Facebook Case
  • Here’s how much of a Web 2.0 guy Mark Zuckerberg is: during the weeks he spent working on Facebook as a Harvard sophomore, he didn’t have time to study for a course he was taking, “Art in the Time of Augustus,” so he built a website containing all of the artwork in class and pinged his classmates to contribute to a communal study guide. Within hours, the wisdom of crowds produced a sort of custom Cliff Notes for the course, and after reviewing the web based crib sheet, he aced the test. Turns out he didn’t need to take that exam, anyway. Zuck (that’s what the cool kids call him) dropped out of Harvard later that year. Zuckerberg is known as both a shy, geeky, introvert who eschews parties, as well as for his brash Silicon Valley bad-boy image. After Facebook’s incorporation, Zuckerberg’s job description was listed as “Founder, Master and Commander [and] Enemy of the State.” An early business card read “I’m CEO . . . Bitch.” And let’s not forget that Facebook came out of drunken experiments in his dorm room, one of which was initially to have compared classmates to farm animals (Zuckerberg, threatened with expulsion, later apologized). For one meeting with Sequoia Capital, the venerable Menlo Park, California, venture capital firm that backed Google and YouTube, Zuckerberg showed up in his pajamas. By the age of 23, Mark Zuckerberg had graced the cover of Newsweek, been profiled on 60 Minutes, and was discussed in the tech world with
  • Graphical Interfaces for C#
  • This paper is focused on a pure implementation task rather than in explanation of a general theory or specific graphical algorithms. However, the described solution seems to be interesting and useful to people within a computer graphics community. The reason is simple: there are many people using the OpenGL, Visualization Toolkit [1] (VTK) or DirectX, who want to benefit from .NET Framework features. Simply, it is a runtime environment, which hides the operating system layer to the application and unifies single machine and network environments into one (see [2]). Later, we will describe what a .NET Framework stands for in more detail. The .NET Framework seemed to be very interesting for people from the area of computer graphics that we decided to implement some of the well-known graphical interfaces in it. The VTK, OpenGL and DirectX have been taken into account. These interfaces are widespread and having them prepared in the .NET Framework, it is easy to extend our old working algorithms with new features and functionality. For example, a developer used to write a code for OpenGL can simply continue with a development with it, build it in .NET Framework and easily add whatever other network functionality he wants. We have implemented the VTK, OpenGL and DirectX interfaces for use within the .NET Framework. It fulfills well our objectives given at the early beginning. Now, graphics developers can also work with the fully object oriented programming (OOP) language C#. It allows more inheritance, deriving and polymorphism into the computer graphics. Download pdf

  • 1995-96 Volvo 850 Manual A/C-Heater Systems
  • System is equipped with a cycling clutch system that uses an expansion valve in refrigerant line between condenser and evaporator, near condenser. System is engaged when A/C switch on control panel is pressed. See Fig. 1. Pressure switch on accumulator cycles compressor clutch on and off. Blower fan speed is controlled by sliding switch on lower left of A/C-heater control panel. Airflow modes are controlled by center knob on A/C-heater control panel. Mode doors are controlled by cables on left side of climate control unit. See Fig. 2. Temperature blend (air mix) doors, located on driver and passenger side respectively, is selected by left or right knob on A/C-heater control panel. Doors are controlled by cables on left side and center of climate control unit. Fresh/recirculated air is selected by switch to lower right of mode knob on A/C-heater control panel. Door is controlled by recirculation motor on upper half of climate control unit. Air conditioning system will only operate above 32 £ F (0 £ C). Blower switch must be in position "1" or higher to engage compressor. A/C compressor is connected in series with the low-pressure switch, high-pressure switch, and safety switch. The high-pressure and safety switch cut power to the A/C compressor if pressure in the A/C high-pressure circuit becomes excessive, supplying a signal to ECM to start cooling fan. Low-pressure switch (pressostat) turns A/C compressor on and off to maintain pressure within limits. Download pdf 1995-96 Volvo 850 Manual A/C-Heater Systems
