  • Tutorial on Threads Programming with Python
  • Threads play a major role in applications programming today. For example, most Web servers are threaded, as are many Java GUI programs. Here are the major settings in which using threads has been founded convenient and/or efficient: • Programs with asynchronous events: Here the program must be ready for various events, but does not know the order in which they might occur. For example, in Sections 3.1 and 3.2, we have a network server connected to several clients. The server does not know from which client the next message will arrive. So, we have the server create a separate thread for each client, with each thread handling only its client. • Programs whose peformance can be improved through latency hiding: Here the program is doing multiple I/O operations, each having long latency, i.e. delay in response. We’d like to perform useful work while waiting for the response, so we have different threads for each I/O action. This way, although the latency is still there, it is “hidden” by doing other useful work in parallel. For example, in Section 4.2, each thread performs a separate network operation. • Computation-intensive programs: If our program is a long-running mathematical computation, it can really benefit from having several processors, e.g. two processors in the case of dual-core machines. By having our program set up a different thread for each processor, we have the potential for substantial speedup, due to the parallelization of the computation. An example is in Section 5. What Are Threads? Processes If your knowledge of operating systems is rather sketchy, you

  • The best an arcade game has to offer Captain Claw is one of the finest arcade action adventures ever made. The graphics is not what we call top notch but the gameplay remembered us of the arcade games we used to play when we were kids. Claw is without any doubt one the most loved and over-played pirate characters and will probably remain this way until the next generation will take our place. There won’t be anyone to remember him. • Implementing Mobile Web 2.0
  • This document outlines a chapter in the book Implementing Mobile Web 2.0 by Ajit Jaokar published by futuretext (Feb 2009). It is released separately as a stand-alone chapter. Here, we discuss the role of the next generation SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, referred to as SCWS (Smart card web server) SIM within Mobile Web 2.0. To explain the background, this document includes other sections from the book so that it becomes as complete document in itself. Synopsis and key ideas The key ideas behind this chapter are: • Web 2.0 has already evolved to Cloud computing. • Inspite of the notion of a ‘Web only’ processing, the cloud needs a client (as is now apparent from the deployment of a browser like Chrome from Google). • For a mobile ecosystem, there are two possibilities for a Cloud client; The device or The SIM since both are at the edge of the network(for simplicity we discuss a cellular network only i.e. not Wimax, WiFi etc) • From a network Operator perspective, the SCWS SIM offers a possibility to be the client for the mobile cloud for reasons that we discuss in this chapter. • The SCWS SIM technology also offers the possibility of accessing mass market devices. Notes: 1) This chapter is written from a Telecom Operator perspective. There are other implementations of Mobile Web 2.0 which are non Operator specific 2) We use the term SCWS technology to refer to Smart Card Web Server technology and SCWS SIM as the next generation SIM card incorporating SCWS technology Web 2.0 and Mobile
  • Pharaoh - Games Cheats Hints & Trainer PC pdf
  • After three games in the Roman Empire it was time to migrate to warmer climates so the franchise moves into Egipt. The ultimate goal was to reach the Pharaoh status (hence the name of the game) using the same gameplay elements of Caesar. Like any game that’s developed for years on end, evolving from title to title, Pharaoh has become an almost perfect game, with few bugs and one heck of a replay cycle. The game is quite easy to understand but if you need a small push along the way, here are a few codes. Cheats 1000 deben - Treasure Chest City attacked by hippos - Hippo Stomp City attacked by land - Mockattack1 City attacked by sea - Mockattack2 Destroy all military ships - Fury of Seth Destroy part of next invasion group - Spirit of Typhon Destroy single storage yard - Grenow Exports decrease for one year - Bird of Prey Exports increased for one year - Pharaohs Glory Festival for all the gods - Meow Flood plain farms is destroyed by next flood - Underworld Harvest from flood plain farms is doubled after next flood - Life from Death Houses and bazaars full of goods - Cat Nip Increase number of already available hippos - Side Show Inundation decreased - Mummys Curse Inundation increased - Bounty Level skip - Pharoahs Tomb Lower kingdom rating - Mesektet Plague strikes city - Kitty Litter Population includes homeless - Help Homeless Raise kingdom rating - Sun Disk Shipwrights, weavers, and
  • Web-enabled RCP Applications with the Rich Ajax Platform
  • The AJAX hype keeps growing. Buzzwords like Comet or RIA are on everybody’s lips. In the area of enterprise software RCP is already firmly established as a client application platform. Replacing or extending existing Rich-Client-Applications with web front-ends has traditionally required a significant investment. The Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) provides a fast-path bridge between the application development with RCP and the increasingly important Web 2.0 environment How do I get my RCP-Application on the Web? This question is asked more and more these days. Besides pure provisioning solutions like Java Web Start there are different approaches that use Eclipse Equinox on the server and recreate the user interface using JSPs or similar technologies. This approach has the disadvantage of a reduced code reuse in the UI, since it is almost impossible to recreate the workbench concept and the familiar extension points with different technologies. This is remedied by RAP, a web-platform that can execute regular RCP applications with few restrictions. This gives developers the opportunity to take an existing RCP application and deliver it as an “ajaxified” web application with a small effort, without coming into contact with Servlets, HTML or JavaScript. With it, RCP concepts like Views, Perspectives or Wizards can be put into web applications. The First Steps In order to become familiar with RAP we will start by installing and starting the available demo application. To do this, we download a new RAP version from the project's homepage [1] and unpack it in any directory. RAP is being delivered as
  • Memory Upgrade for Apple PowerBook G4 15? Installation Guide pdf
  • Like most electrical components inside computers, memory is susceptible to damage by static electricity. NEVER handle memory our computer parts if you have any static electric-ity buildup. Before working with sensitive electronics, touch a large metal object to ground yourself. If you have an antistatic ground-ing strap, use it while working with your computer. Overview The memory modules for the PowerBook G4 are easy to install, but the steps in this guide should be followed exactly. Be sure to read this entire instruction guide before you begin. TO INSTALL NEW MEMORY MODULES IN YOUR APPLE POWERBOOK G4: 1. Shut down your computer. Disconnect the power adapter, phone cord, and any other cables connected to the computer. Turn the computer over (See Figure 1) and remove the battery by using a coin or flathead screwdriver to turn the battery locking screw 90 degrees clockwise. (NOTE: Please follow all ESD requirements.) 2. Using a Phillips size 00 screwdriver, unscrew the memory door and remove it from the bottom of your computer (see Figure 2). 3. If you already have a memory card installed in the slot, and you wish to use your new memory card in addition to it, you must remove the existing card to gain access to a second slot underneath the existing memory card. Once you do that, you may insert either memory card in either slot. (If you intend to use ONLY your new memory card, install the new card in the upper slot and leave the lower slot

  • Control Abstraction in Parallel Programming Languages
  • Control abstraction is the process by which programmers de ne new control constructs, specifying a statement ordering separately from an implementation of that ordering. We argue that control abstraction can and should play a central role in parallel programming. Control abstraction can be used to build new control constructs for the expression of parallelism. A control construct can have several implementations, representing the varying degrees of parallelism to be exploited on different architectures. Control abstraction also reduces the need for explicit synchronization, since it admits a precise specification of control ow. Using several examples, we illustrate these benefits of control abstraction. We also show that we can efficiently implement a parallel programming language based on control abstraction. We conclude that the enormous benefits and reasonable costs of control abstraction argue for its inclusion in explicitly parallel programming languages. Sequential programming languages use sequencing, repetition, and selection to define a total ordering of statement executions in a program. Parallel programming languages use additional control ow constructs, such as fork, cobegin, or parallel for loops, to introduce a partial order on statement executions, which admits a parallel implementation. Since parallelism is primarily an issue of control ow, the control constructs provided by the language can either help or hinder attempts to express and exploit parallelism.
