DownloadPraxis Script Programming GuideThis guide is intended to for use with the PRAXIS v2.0 manual in the development of custom scripts which can be run within the PRAXIS measurement system. Praxis Scripts are Windows applications in themselves that run from within PRAXIS. They include visual forms on which you can place familiar user interface components like buttons, edit boxes, sliders, text editors, images, etc., and easily give them high level functionality by setting properties and writing code in DelphiScript (based on Borland Delphi) or VBScript (a language based on Microsoft Visual Basic).
The Scripts are developed using the Liberty Script Designer, which is an additional, separate application that is installed along with PRAXIS and which can be started from within Praxis. The Script Designer can be started by using the Scripts -> Design a Script menu on the Main Form.
Although Praxis was developed entirely using Borland's Delphi language, and the components used are Delphi "VCL" components, other languages such as VBScript and JavaScript can be used to develop code if you wish. Most procedures and functions that are built into Delphi are also usable in a PRAXIS script, even when the script is programmed in languages other than DelphiScript. The Script Designer provides specific support, such as automatic generation of skeletal scripts, for the VBScript and DelphiScript languages.

Now it’s a very rare day when these two constituencies can agree on anything, so imagine my surprise when both camps reached a consensus on the positive impacts that Web 2.0 services will have on non-voice revenues.
The operators expressed their envy and excitement about the pace of innovation and consumer adoption of Web 2.0 services on the internet, and with certainty predicted good fortunes and optimism for the entire value chain when these Web 2.0 services have been migrated to mobile.
Indeed this group isn’t alone in its optimism for this “Web 2.0 to Mobile” migration strategy. It seems not a month went by in 2007 without an announcement by a handset vendor, a mobile operator, a media company, or hundreds of entrepreneurial software startups, investing in technical and marketing initiatives and ultimately clamoring to align themselves with one of the Web 2.0 superstars.
Okay I admit it. I just don’t get it. Perhaps I’m slow because I’m Canadian, but I just don’t understand the business rationale or source of optimism related to this “Web 2.0 to Mobile” migration strategy.
If this optimism is being driven by the scale of revenues that Web 2.0 companies generate from advertising on the internet, and how this can in some shape or form lead to a new revenue stream for mobileAn Introduction to the Java Programming LanguageIn 1991, a group of Sun Microsystems engineers led by James Gosling decided to develop a language for consumer devices (cable boxes, etc.). They wanted the language to be small and use efficient code since these devices do not have powerful CPUs. They also wanted the language to be hardware independent since different manufacturers would use different CPUs. The project was code-named Green.
These conditions led them to decide to compile the code to an intermediate machine-like code for an imaginary CPU called a virtual machine. (Actually, there is a real CPU that implements this virtual CPU now.) This intermediate code (called bytecode) is completely hardware independent. Programs are run by an interpreter that converts the bytecode to the appropriate native machine code. Thus, once the interpreter has been ported to a computer, it can run any bytecoded program.
Sun uses UNIX for their computers, so the developers based their new language on C++. They picked C++ and not C because they wanted the language to be object-oriented. The original name of the language was Oak. However, they soon discovered that there was already a programming language called Oak, so they changed the name to Java.
The Green project had a lot of trouble getting others interested in Java for smart devices. It was not until they decided to shift gears and market Java as a language for web applications that interest in Java took off. Many of the advantages that Java has for smart devices are even bigger advantages on the web.
Currently,SketchUp Wavefront OBJ Exporter – Version 4.0.4The SketchUp OBJ exporter extends the export capability of SketchUp by providing an additional export type in the File > Export > 3d Model dialog. OBJ is a legacy ASCII format developed by Wavefront/Alias Software.
II. What’s New?
• Support for positioned textures. The positioning of textures is now preserved upon export.
• Support for transparent materials. The transparency of materials is now exported to the OBJ file.
• Support for double-sided faces. A new option, "Export faces double-sided", has been added to the UI. This option, which allows the export of a back-side material, exports an additional face with flipped normals and reversed vertices.
• Support for object hierarchy. The OBJ output now supports a flat set membership hierarchy, meaning that the format understands which objects belong to any set. It is important to note that it does not support a tree hierarchy meaning it doesn't know if one particular set is actually a component part of another set. This limitation is a limitation of the OBJ format itself.
• Support for raster image objects. Raster images are now exported.
• Support for object visibility. Only visible objects are output to the OBJ file.
• Exported material names are now based on the name of the material in SketchUp vs. being based on the name of the underlying texture file.
• A version number has been added to the OBJ Options dialog so that you can verify you are on the latest release.
• In addition to the above, many bug fixes have been made.

DownloadHow to Import Shapefiles into Microsoft AccessThis tutorial demonstrates how to import an ESRI shapefile into an Access database using the ArcCatalog. Microsoft Access databases are compatible with ArcGIS, as tables within Access databases can be directly accessed by ArcGIS and added to ArcMap. When geographic boundary files are exported to an Access database, the database can then serve as a personal geodatabase: a container for organizing and storing multiple geographic boundary files and data tables. (see the How to Import Data into Microsoft Access tutorial for importing data tables into Access).
If you do not already have an Access database where you intend to export the shapefile to, the first step is to create an empty database file (see the beginning of the How to Import Data into Microsoft Access tutorial for instructions on creating a new database). NOTE – if you are using ArcGIS 9.2, you MUST create the database within Arc Catalog by right-clicking in the table of contents, clicking new, and new personal geodatabase. You cannot import geospatial data into an Access database that was not created with ArcGIS 9.2. If you plan on using the database for just holding and working with tabular data, or you are using an earlier version of ArcGIS (8.3 to 9.1), you can safely create a database within Access, Windows Explorer, or ArcGIS, and it will work as a geodatabase.
Once you have a database, the next step is to open the ArcCatalog, and drill down to the directory that has the shapefile. In this example, we areHonda Announces 2006 Motorcycle Racing Plans.
