This is tutorial #2 in the series for changing or removing backgrounds. This method uses the extraction tool available in Photoshop CS2 (I’m not sure if it’s available in Photoshop CS, but it won’t be available in any version prior to this). Unfortunately, unless other softwares contain this tool (I don’t know of any that do), the tutorial will only be geared to those who own Photoshop CS2 upwards.

Here are some of the methods I use for portraits to soften the skin of the model. This tutorial was made using Adobe Photoshop cs2. I am not a professional in post-processing and I do this for fun. Since I have learned most of the things I know about post-processing by reading on the internet, this tutorial is my way to give back.

Begin by opening Adobe Photoshop CS2. On a PC, click Start > Programs > Adobe > Photoshop CS2, or click on the shortcut on the desktop. On a Mac, click Macintosh HD > Application > Adobe Photoshop CS2 > Adobe Photoshop CS2 shown in Figure 1, or click the icon in the Dock. SETTING UP THE DOCUMENT Setting up your document correctly from the start will make your job much easier as you work through your project.
