  • The fine Art of Commenting
  • “Commenting is a royal pain in the posterior” - “Comments are for weenies” - “I can understand my code quite well, thank you very much” - “Good code speaks for itself” - “No time for that, got to get that code out of the door”. Admit it, you have said some thing along these lines at least once during your coding career. Maybe you even now still are in this kind of frame of mind. Negative attitudes towards commenting may have several reasons: Programmer's hubris Lazyness No time left for documentation due to deadline constraints None of these is a good reason for not commenting source code properly. We will look at these arguments, discuss them and take a look at good commenting practice and its benefits. As SharpDevelop is intended to be an IDE for all languages supported by the .NET platform – and others, if support is available – this text will not discuss language specific commenting issues. Knowledge of all languages referred to is not necessary for the understanding of this paper. Programmer's Hubris A good programmer is always a programmer with something of a well developed ego. Nothing is impossible, everything is easy to understand. So much for theory. In practice, reality checks are in order from time to time. Do you understand all your code after not looking at it for, say, a year? Is legacy code left to you to maintain always obvious at first look, or even after a few weeks of scrutiny? Truth is, most of the time
  • BMW Tightening Torques Manual PDF
  • Extract from company standard BMW N 600 02.0 The maximum tightening torques are: Only applicable to shaft screws with metric standard and fine threads acc. to DIN 13, sheet 13 and nuts with height of 0,8 x d acc. to DIN 934 and only for a µ total = 0.125 (screws phosphatized, screws untreated or galvanized. Lubrication condition: unlubricated and also oiled). For cadmium-plated screws or nuts (µ total = 0.08 to 0.09) the tightening torque with screw material at the same level of utilization ca. must be 30% less than shown in the table. The values specified in this table apply to all screw connections conforming to the aforementioned conditions. Not applicable when using a different surface or lubricant condition on the thread, or if the height of the nut differs. Not applicable to necked-down bolts, self-tapping screw connections or to connections between parts made of different materials. Important! Maintaining specified tightening torques is vital for performing repair work to a professional standard. This presupposes that the torque wrenches required for this are subjected to a regular inspection. Approved torque testing equipment is listed in the catalogue of workshop equipment planning documents. Download BMW Tightening Torques Manual PDF

EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH The stop switch will cut off the engine when the stop switch line is pulled out. This line can be attached to the body of the operator, effectively preventing injuries from the propeller m casehe/shefalls overboard. We highly recommenduseof the stop switch line becauseit can save the life of the operator if somerhingsbad happens. However, we would also like to point out the drawbacksof the switch. Accldental acbvation of the switch (such as the line being pulled out in heavy seas) could causepassengers lose their balance to and even fall overboard, or it could result in lossof power in heavy seas, strong currents, or high winds. Loss of control while mooring is another potential hazard~ To prevent such hazardoussituations.the 500 mm line is coiled and can extend to a full 1,300 mm. • SAP Tutorial Book: The DCOM Connector Manual
  • DCOM provides a standardized basis for creating and integrating distributed software components. External client applications can use DCOM as infrastructure for their communication with SAP servers, to access R/3 components. With this technology, R/3 components such as BAPIs or remote function modules appear as COM objects and use the runtime environment of the Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS). The DCOM Connector provides a C++ Template Library developed by SAP, which you can use to create COM objects from business objects of the R/3 system and administer them. The two scenarios below describe the different uses of the DCOM Connector: PC Client Applications Client applications on a frontend use DCOM to access COM objects installed on one or more MTS servers. In such a scenario, all you need to do is distribute the client application software to different PCs. It is not necessary to install any additional SAP software on the PC, since MTS components are accessed remotely. The DCOM Connector allows you to q Concentrate on programming the client application without having to consider the RFC protocol. q Simplify table handling with ADO using standard tools (for example, Data Bound Control). q Use comfortable development environments (VB 5/6) for developing the clients. WEB Scenario You use Active Server Pages (ASP) to create WEB pages whose HTML coding contains executable scripts on the server side. ASP communicates with the MTS via DCOM to access MTS components. The MTS can run on the same machine as the web server (IIS), but this is no

  • Securing Microsoft Outlook Web Access with VeriSign Unified Authentication
  • Email is an integral part of the enterprise DNA, used for making business decisions minute by minute on a worldwide basis. Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook is the most widely deployed email server application. As more and more enterprise employees work remotely, from home offices or from mobile locations, the need for reliable and secure email access is growing. To enable remote access, many companies have deployed Virtual Private Networks (VPN) which add an additional layer of complexity to network security, are often unstable, and require installation and maintenance of VPN clients on remote users' computers. Some enterprises have deployed SSL VPNs which do not require installing or maintaining clients, but still require an additional network layer. An alternative to VPN or SSL VPNs, that leverages an enterprises' existing Exchange environment is Microsoft® Outlook Web Access (OWA). With OWA, enterprises have the option to deploy a Web-based version of Outlook that can be accessed from any machine with a web browser. However, while OWA addresses the complexity of remote access, it still relies on single-factor authentication - username and password - for secure logon. Adding VeriSign Unified Authentication and the VeriSign One-Time Password (OTP) token to an OWA deployment provides a secure, second-factor of authentication to your remote email application, while easing complexity at the network level and providing ease of use for remote users. VeriSign® Unified Authentication reduces the complexity and cost of strong authentication by providing a single, highly scalable platform for managing all types of two-factor authentication credentials. The VeriSign

  • What you are looking at is the March 2007 edition of the MaUsE DoubleClick monthly newsletter from the Macin- tosh Users East, (MaUsE), a motley collection of mostly harmless cranks who reside in Southern Ontario with their motley collection of old and new Macintosh computers. Unlike previous issues, the March 2007 DoubleClick is published using Quark XPress 7. This issue was created with help from an OWC Mercury Extreme 1.4 GHz G4 Power Macintosh AGP Graphics tower, (with our thanks to OWC), and a 1 GHz G4 iBook. A Kodak DX7590 is used for all pictures. Everything not specifically attributed to someone else can be blamed on me. Back issues can be downloaded from the website. Submissions from MaUsE Club members are almost always welcome. Send articles to < mause.doubleclick@gmail.com >, especially if there are files or pictures attached. I have never refused a submission yet. There is always room for an- other piece on ANY Mac-related topic and I’ll make room if there isn’t. I would like your submissions. But I won’t beg.
