  • FORD FALCON XR8 manual Road Test Report
  • After spending quite a few years in the shadows of Holden and its popular range of Commodore family cars, Ford has struck back with an exciting new range of locally produced Falcon models. The BA model Falcon represents an investment by Ford in the order of $500 million. The new models offer comprehensive styling, powertrain, suspension, interior and safety related changes, and look set to challenge Holden for sales supremacy in the family car class. The styling of the new Falcon is a big improvement over the superseded AU series; however, perhaps the most significant upgrade has taken place beneath the skin of the Falcon. Ford has introduced a range of new engine options in the Falcon that includes a 4.0 litre double overhead camshaft (DOHC) six cylinder engine, a turbocharged version of the six and a new 5.4 litre V8 engine. The new engines deliver significantly more power and torque, and thereby offering improved performance across the board for all models in the Falcon range. The new 5.4 litre V8 engine comes from Ford’s Windsor plant in Canada and is available in a number of different configurations. The standard V8 engine is called the Barra 220. It is a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) engine with three valves per cylinder that develops 220 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque. The engine that powers the XR8 evaluated for this report is a more potent DOHC unit that features four valves per cylinder. Designated the Boss 260, this engine produces a very

  • Microsoft: Silverlight More than a Flash
  • Microsoft gives a name to its Flash-killer technology. The technology formerly known as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight. Microsoft has given a go-to-market name for its cross-platform, cross-browser plug-in for delivering the next generation of user experiences and rich Internet applications for the Web. The technology formerly known as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight. Microsoft announced Silverlight at the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas on April 16. The NAB announcement highlights Silverlight uses for media users. The software company will announce further details about the technology at its own Mix07 conference, which starts at the end of April and runs through May 2 in Las Vegas. Forest Key, a director of product management in the Microsoft Server and Tools Division, said Silverlight integrates with existing Web technologies and assets to provide higher quality experiences with lower costs for media delivery. In a briefing with eWEEK, Key demonstrated how Silverlight offers consistent experiences to both Mac and Windows users on a variety of browsers, including Internet Explorer, FireFox and Safari. As for which platform Silverlight will support next, Key said, "Linux is an open question. We're looking at the desktops and browsers by volume. We want to put muscle behind supporting the bulk of the market." And Linux support is still under discussion, he said. Silverlight uses WMV (Windows Media Video), Microsoft's implementation of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers VC-1 video standard, ensuring compatibility with the millions of hours of content already available on the Web. • Load Testing Web 2.0 Technologies Ajax-RIA-SOA-Web Services
  • Web 2.0, RIA, AJAX and SOA are terms and abbreviations we hear and use on a daily basis. But do we know what they mean for us as professional performance testers? This document provides an overview of the relevant Web2.0 terms and elaborates on how to run performance tests on these applications. The document targets the performance testing professional as well as the R&D manager looking for information on how to prepare for this new era. The internet world is evolving with new technologies and architecture models. Web2.0 is a major evolution of Internet applications and provides new options for internet application providers. Web2.0 enables improving the user experience, creating more efficient applications and increasing the productivity of the users and the enterprise. People most often associate Web2.0 with user-generated content websites, typified by tagging content, blogging, wish lists, and RSS feeds. Some enterprise applications boast a recent Web 2.0 interface called “Enterprise 2.0”, but, issues of performance, privacy and personalization are still blocking many enterprises from adopting this new internet trend. On the other hand technology enablers, such as the SOA system architecture and RIA’s rich UI are likely to eventually converge with Web 2.0 concepts. The combination of different technologies, architectures and concepts will all create new dimensions of internet applications. RadView, as a leading provider of performance testing software for Internet Applications, provides solutions and guidelines for testing Web2.0 applications. RadView’s current and future product roadmap offers a high level solution enabling developers to secure the Performance, Scalability and Reliability
  • Simplifying the Service Delivery Environment - How to remain relevant in the Web 2.0 era
  • To remain relevant in the Web 2.0 era it is important for an operator to first identify the unique network assets they have and then design an architecture that will maximize their usage, while at the same time protect them. Mobile operators are currently at risk of becoming bit-pipes as a result of the latest web technologies and properties. Competition is becoming very intense and operator revenues are likely to substantially decrease as a result. And by the time a mobile industry standards committee has the chance to meet, analyze and agree on a situation or latest protocol to create and deliver a new service, numerous Web 2.0 sites will have already come and gone. If mobile operators want to remain relevant, they will have to open the networks and allow innovation to flourish. This is the role of either a Service Delivery Platform, or an effective Service Delivery Environment created by operators and based on their key assets and strengths. In general, a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) has four main assets that ensure competitive advantage compared to content or application service providers (ASPs). Identity MNOs have the necessary infrastructure to manage the identity of a subscriber. Once a subscriber is on the network, the MNO can provide identity information to the application provider. There is no need for a new login process when using a service. A Service Delivery Environment should facilitate delivery of subscriber identity to authorised ASPs. Billing MNOs have a billing relationship with the subscriber. They can enable content and application

  • SmartMAP Model SM-300-xxx Installation Instructions
  • Honda/Acura turbo and supercharger kits and prevents the engine computer (ECU) from … Using the electrical service manual for your vehicle, locate the MAP This document is available as an electronic file in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format with color images from www.zublin.com. This document may be freely copied and distributed provided that it is done so in its entirety. Any change, modification or editing is strictly prohibited without the written permission of Zublin Engineering.2 What is the SmartMAP.? The SmartMAP. model SS-300 replaces the check valve and restrictor assembly used by most Honda/Acura turbo and supercharger kits and prevents the engine computer (ECU) from shutting down the engine when the manifold pressure is above atmospheric (boost). How does the SmartMAP. work? The SmartMAP. connects inline with the stock (OEM) manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and limits the MAP voltage that is applied to the ECU. The limit (clamp) voltage value is preset and can not be adjusted. The stock Honda/Acura NSX MAP sensor has an output range of about 0.5V at high vacuum to about 2.7V at atmospheric pressure (wide open throttle for normally aspirated NSX’s). With a turbo or supercharger installed, the manifold pressure will increase above atmospheric, and the MAP sensor voltage will rise above 2.7V. At some voltage above 2.7V, the NSX ECU will assume that there is a problem with the sensor and shut off the engine, since under normal conditions (without the turbo/SC), the MAP output will never exceed about 2.7V. The SmartMAP model SM-300-275 prevents the ECU from shutting… Download
