  • An ASM specification of C# threads and the .NET memory model
  • Modern object-oriented programming languages like Java or C# support multithreaded programming. They allow several threads to run concurrently sharing objects on the heap in the same address space. Each thread has its own frame stack, program counter, local variables and registers. The languages have special syntactical constructs for synchronization. Java has a synchronized statement and synchronized methods, while C# has a lock statement and several attributes that can be applied to classes and methods to control their run-time synchronization behavior. Although the C# programming languages supports multi-threaded programming directly via special syntax, the underlying thread model is poorly documented and still considered to be part of the library. The Ecma standards for C# [4] and the Common Language Infrastructure [5] contain only a few paragraphs about threads. For example, the lock statement is defined in by a reduction to the library functions Monitor.Enter and Monitor.Exit which are not further specified there. Important issues, such as the order of writes to volatile and non-volatile fields, are just briefly mentioned in two paragraphs in. Hence, a program developer has to rely solely on the class library documentation that comes with Microsoft’s .NET framework Software Development Kit. Unfortunately, that documentation is not very precise with respect to threads, locks and memory issues. Moreover, it is not identical with the (XML) specification of the types that comprise the standard li- braries in [5, Partition IV, Profiles and Libraries]. For example, specifications of Thread.Interrupt, Thread.Suspend and Thread.Resume are not included in. If a programmer cannot rely on
  • Google Data APIs Protocol (GData Module)
  • This proposal aims to create a module that implements the GData protocol specification in Drupal. The Google data APIs provide a simple standard protocol, called "GData", for reading and writing data on the web using either of two standard XML-based syndication formats: Atom or RSS. This module will handle all the basic stuff a developer shouldn't have to worry about when developing modules that extend its functionality such as data transfer, protocol adherence, and authentication. It will expose its own API which will allow other developers to create modules that easily interact with information provided by Google's many service APIs. Using this module, module developers who need access to this information need only concern themselves with what's important: the data. This module will benefit Drupal by providing developers with an easy way to interact with information provided by Google's many service APIs without worrying about all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into accessing and modifying that information. This opens up a world of possibilities for integrating Google applications into Drupal. Some ideas that could be more easily implemented using the API provided by a GData module include, but are not limited to, the following: • Using Gooogle's Apps API to integrate various Google applications into Drupal, allowing it to be a competitor with other online groupware suites such as Microsoft SharePoint. • Integrating Google Base Data into dynamic Drupal applications using Google's Base Data API. • Creating a Drupal front-end to Google's Blogger service through its Blogger Data API, allowing for the administration of
  • 2007 AUDI A6 AVANT
  • Introduced in the 2005 model-year, the current generation of the A6 is relatively unchanged this year, apart from the fact that the V8 now develops 15 extra horsepower and that an S6 version with a 435-hp V10 is available. The Avant, as Audi names its station wagon models, is offered with a 3.2L V6 and Quattro full-time all-wheel-drive. As the vehicle is a bit low, front as well as rear access is relatively easy. The front seats are very comfortable thanks to such features as adjustable height and lumbar support. With tilt and telescoping steering, drivers easily find a very good driving position. Legroom is good, while headroom with the sunroof is tight for tall individuals. In the back, the bench seat is comfortable for just two people because the transmission tunnel takes up the foot room in the middle. Headroom and legroom are sufficient. The seatback splits 60/40 and folds to form a floor that angles up slightly towards the front, leaving a gap behind the front seats. Fortunately, you can install a vertical net to keep animals or objects from falling into the gap. Cargo capacity is good, but the rather pronounced forward angle of the C-pillars prevents use of full height for about 40 cm. The hatch opens wide and there are four movable tie-downs. • Using Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy with Diskeeper
  • Diskeeper can be administered network-wide via several different methods. The primary network administration tool for Diskeeper is Diskeeper Administrator Edition, a single point of control for all your Diskeeper administration needs. However, sites using Microsoft Group Policy can use the Diskeeper.adm administrative template file available from Executive Software to control many aspects of Diskeeper operation through Group Policy. The Diskeeper.adm template file is available free of charge from the Executive Software web site at www.executive.com/diskeeper/grouppolicy.asp. Active Directory Users and Computers and the Group Policy Editor are the desktop tools used to administer Group Policy on your network. When the Diskeeper template is installed, these tools will allow you to configure Diskeeper options such as scheduling, defragmentation methods and defragmentation priority. Note: This section assumes you have a certain level of experience using the Group Policy Editor. Refer to the Microsoft Group Policy documentation for complete information about using the Group Policy Editor. 1. • Verifying Web Services Security Configurations
  • XML Web Services provide a flexible API for building distributed systems as a collection of endpoints that can send and receive SOAP messages. These systems are secured using message-based cryptographic mechanisms defined in a series of specifications developed by Microsoft, IBM, and others. Such home-grown security protocols often go wrong; they are prone to a well-known class of attacks, formalized by Dolev and Yao, where an attacker can intercept, modify, and replay messages. The vulnerability is only increased by the flexible message formats and complex trust configurations allowed by the standards. Our goal is to verify the security of families of protocol configurations, such as those deployed for Microsoft’s WSE and Indigo web services implementations. We propose a new specification language for writing machine-checkable descriptions of SOAP-based security protocol configurations and their properties. Our TulaFale language is based on the pi calculus (for writing collections of SOAP processors running in parallel), plus XML syntax (to express SOAP messaging), logical predicates (to construct and filter SOAP messages), and correspondence assertions (to specify authentication goals of protocols). Our implementation compiles TulaFale into the applied pi calculus, and then runs Blanchet’s resolution-based protocol verifier. The TulaFale implementation is available for download. We also describe a high-level link language for describing security configurations, and demonstrate a tool that can automatically generate and analyze executable security policy deployments for web services written using WSE. This is the first tool we know of that can automatically analyze cryptographic configurations to find real errors and demonstrable attacks. Download pdf Verifying
