Creating a Windows XP Embedded Run-Time Image Tutorial1. First determine the best way to analyze the system. (Note: This is possibly the hardest step in the entire design system depending on what you are trying to design the image for.)
a. If the system has a CD-ROM drive or is capable of running Windows XP/2000 then the program tap.exe will be used to create the *.pmq file.
i. CD-ROM drive present: insert Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software and boot from disc to XPE which is command prompt based, bare-minimum image. Run tap /O *.pmq from the command prompt and then restart the computer into normal operation. Analysis of the target system using this option will provide a better analysis of the minimum amount of components necessary than (ii.) due to the fact that it is being run from a bare-minimum image.
ii. Windows XP/2000 capable: insert Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software and copy the tap.exe utility to a local directory. Start Command Prompt and go to the directory you just saved tap.exe to. Run tap /O *.pmq and then exit the command prompt.
b. If the system has no peripherals, the ta.exe must be used through DOS.
i. Start the target system into MS-DOS mode and copy ta.exe onto the local drive from Disc 1 of the Windows XP Embedded Evaluation Software by whatever means possible (floppy, USB drive, etc…) and run ta /O *.pmq on the local drive. We developed prototype solution for Slovenian company Iskratel d.o.o. They use SAP R/3 Enterprise Resource Planning system for internal operations. At the faculty two groups of undergraduate students were established to carry out this project. One group represented the buyer‘s perspective and the other supplier‘s perspective. In our prototype these two groups exchanged purchase order and purchase order confirmation in the electronic form. Two different software, SAP R/3 system and Microsoft BizTalk Server, were used in the prototype. We tested three different possibilities for the connection between these two systems: SAP DCOM Connector, BizTalk Adapter for SAP and SAP Business Connector.
The interaction between systems can be established in two ways. Firstly, the SAP R/3 system is possible to be initiator. The new document is thus created in SAP R/3 system and immediately sent to the other system (in our case to BizTalk Server). Secondly, the client can be the initiator. Client checks in its partner‘s system (SAP R/3) if there is a document waiting. In our prototype, the second choice was used.

A typical microprocessor contains many such networks, and often they are hot- spots. Although parallel prefix (or scan) has been much studied, surprisingly many questions remain unanswered. As geometries shrink, it is not at all clear how to make low power prefix networks with the desired timing properties. Here, I develop a method of writing very highly parameterised parallel prefix network generators in which we specify the combinators used to build the networks and then search for a topology that matches the given delay constraints. This first case study indicates that, in this functional setting, combinators and search fit well together. The resulting prefix networks are both small and shallow, and likely to be useful in low power applications.
Parallel prefix is one of the fundamental algorithms of computer science, and it has been much studied. Yet many theoretical and practical questions remain open. On the theoretical side, we have not had good enough methods to design small shallow prefix networks with limited fanout. We have not either had good enough methods of producing networks that are adapted to the delay profile of their inputs. These are the problems that I solve towards the end of this paper. Both of these problems are interesting in practice too. Small networks promise low power, and here I show first results indicating that we can achieve low power in practice, although much remains to be done.
