Download PDFMapping MashupsAs part of a large undergraduate history course he teaches about World War II, Dr. Martinez developed a mapping mashup that he introduces to the 150 students at the beginning of the semester. The mashup, which works with Google maps, represents major events leading up to and during the war. Fundamentally, it’s a map, he explains, showing them on a projection screen that it works very much like the online mapping tools students regularly use. The map covers virtually the entire globe, and users can move around the world, zooming in and out, showing the area of search as a map, satellite images, or satellite images with maps, dates, and events superimposed.
When students zoom in on Europe, they see flags scattered around the continent and into Asia. Similar maps dot Japan, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific. When clicked, each flag opens a pop-up box that names the location, explains what happened there and when, and shows a photograph of that site at or close to the date in question. Flags correspond to important battles, political events, treaties that were signed, and cities such as Vichy, the wartime capital of France. The text in the box also includes links to articles that talk in depth about what took place in each location and the significance of that event. Students can zoom in to particular locations and see satellite images of what the place looks like today. They can also get an idea about the terrain where soldiers fought and died.
DuringSecuring Web 2.0: Why Security 1.0 is no longer enoughIf you share your photos on Flickr, you are an active user of Web 2.0. If you have a Facebook or MySpace page, download video from YouTube, subscribe to RSS feeds, or use Wikipedia, you’re also participating in Web 2.0. Web 2.0 describes a new generation of the web, designed around content created by users. High-tech industry people describe Web 2.0 sites as “collaborative”, “participatory and interactive”, “personalized”, or “community-driven” because these sites enable people to go beyond simply reading content provided by others. People can proactively share their interests and ideas with other site visitors.
Blogs, podcasts, dating sites, social and business networks, and mashup sites combining data from multiple sites are all part of Web 2.0. This is in stark contrast to Web 1.0 – still what most sites represent – where the content is created by the site owner and offers little or no opportunity for the site visitor to enter into a dialogue or add their own content. Online banking, e-tail stores, and most corporate web sites are examples of the Web 1.0 world.
Web 2.0 also let you navigate through sites in different ways that can provide a more participatory experience through rich, interactive text and image displays:
• drop down menus that might appear anywhere on the screen
• fly over or pop-up windows
• rollover images that change when you move the mouse over them
• dynamic scrolling menus
All these features enable you to interact with the web site far more than the click-boxes, buttons, and hyperlinks of theFSAE NOISE TEST ENGINE SPEEDSHonda CBR 600 F2. 65.0 x 45.2 mm. 149.99 ccs. 4 cyl. 600 ccs ... 600 ccs. 9811. 10000. Honda CBR 600 F1. 63.0 x 48.0 mm. 149.63 ccs.
Download PDFUsing Microsoft Visual Studio .NETIf you wish to do your assignments on a PC, you will need either Windows 2000, XP, or
Vista and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Note that Windows 98 or Me are not able to run Visual Studio 2005. You should be familiar with the Windows operating system and PCs in general, and be willing and able to figure out the Visual Studio 2005 environment.
The emphasis in class will be on general programming concepts, not on the workings of Visual Studio (often referred to as just VS), and the code you write will be virtually identical to code written by students using a Macintosh.
Note that currently the cluster and Lair (the Tressider computer cluster) computers do not have VS 2005 installed. They have VS 2003, but it does not have our libraries. We are hoping that we will have this fixed soon. We will make an announcement on the course website when we have a version of VS on the Stanford computers with our libraries
Getting Started
In order to use your PC to write the programs for the class, you will need to install both a compiler and the special 106 libraries for your system.
Step #1: Getting and installing the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 compiler
For CS106X, we are using Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2005 compiler. To install VS, you will download disk images of the installer CDs, burn them to physical CDs, and then use those to install the program. The easy way to do this is to go to http://msdn-ee.stanford.edu/VisStud2005.html and click onThe Audi TT Roadster ManualThe new Audi TT Roadster is now even more athletic in appearance by virtue of … Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI S tronic. DownloadVolocity User's GuideVolocity is an innovative, high-performance imaging system for interactive, time-resolved volume visualization. Volocity is the first, multi-color 4D rendering system designed for biomedical imaging. It allows the scientist to visualize and, for the first time, explore 3D volumes over time.
Using new, highly advanced algorithms, and taking full advantage of the powerful Mac and PC hardware, Volocity provides interactive rendering that is incredibly fast. Exploration of time-resolved, color 3D volumes provides the scientist with unique information that is difficult to obtain by any other means.
Volocity consists of a core product, Volocity LE, which is free of charge, and three optional extensions, which must be purchased: Volocity Visualization, Volocity Classification and Volocity Restoration.
Volocity LE
Volocity LE is the core of the modular Volocity system and is available for scientists to download from the Improvision web site without charge. Volocity LE is designed for 2D, 3D and 4D imaging and enables the user to import image sequences from confocal and wide field microscopes and then enhance, process and display 3D slices at selected time points.
Volocity Visualization
Volocity Visualization provides an extensive range of visualization and publication features. The Volocity 3D view enables the user to interactively explore a 3D rendered object. The user can, in real time, rotate, zoom and animate the 3D object whilst simultaneously varying the contribution and rendering mode for each channel. The user can also position the viewing point either outside or inside the 3D object, and then watch as structures change and develop over time. Volocity Visualization also includes theTroubleshooting csUnit Addin for Visual StudioThis document outlines steps for troubleshooting the csUnit Addin for Visual Studio (csUnit4VS2005). You need administrative rights for some of the steps, e.g. write access to the registry. In Windows Vista you may need to confirm certain actions due to the User Account Control (UAC).
Applicable Platforms
– Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP
– Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Vista
Procedure
1. Close all instances of Visual Studio regardless of version. Use task manager to verify that no instance of devenv.exe is running.
2. Uninstall all csUnit versions.
3. Using regedit, navigate to HKLM SoftwareMicrosoft.NETFrameworkAssemblyFolders. Ensure that no entry exists for csUnit. Remove if necessary.
4. With regedit open, navigate to HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftVisualStudio8.0AutomationOptionsLookInFolders and verify that it does not contain a value for csUnit. The exact name of that entry depends on your operating system and what installation folder you have chosen during setup. An example looks like this:
