  • A Comparison of the GPL and the Microsoft EULA
  • This document has been written in an attempt to review and contrast the samples of licenses made available by Microsoft and the Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) community. As these two have now become the most prominent purveyors of platforms and software application technology in the computer industry worldwide, we feel it would be instructive for business and organisational users to have a plain-language analysis of these key components of the software they use. We will also attempt a very simple quantitative analysis of what portions of both licenses devote to giving users rights, taking away user rights, and limiting the extent to which users can make legal claims or sue the purveyors of the software from both camps. The Microsoft Windows XP Professional End User License Agreement (the EULA hereafter) was selected as representative of the current-generation license provided by Microsoft for business-grade systems. The GNU General Public License (the GPL hereafter) has been selected as the most commonly-used Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) license. The GPL is used by well-known platforms and software technology such as Linux, GNOME, KDE, OpenOffice.org and MySQL. While much of what we will cover may be known to some readers, we believe that there is widespread ignorance of both the EULA and the GPL. We will thus make every effort to provide a clear, simplified analysis of both, to assist in the better understanding of these licenses which are very important to all users of computers. • iMIV Installation Manual
  • The Front installation is for cars without a RTI (navigation system) that are not MELBUS prepped (factory preinstalled MELBUS cable in the trunk). The iMIV can be placed behind the dashboard, in the glove compartment or underneath the passenger seat. You will have to connect both the Front Mount Power Cable and the MELBUS module to HU Cable to the back of your radio. You will also have to connect the iMIV to your iPod with the iPod Cable. The rear installation (with RTI) is for cars with a pre-installed RTI (navigation system). The iMIV will be installed “in chain” with your RTI. The video signal of the iMIV will be hooked up to the RTI, which makes it possible to watch videos from the iMIV on the RTI screen. These videos can be played from an external video source connected to the iMIV (e.g. a DVD player) or an iPod itself (must support video like an iPod video). The iMIV will be installed in the trunk with the long iPod Cable running to the front (middle arm console). Download pdf iMIV Installation Manual
  • How to Build a Better Wikipedia: Ubiquitous Infrastructure for Deep Accountability
  • The Web is home to a vast number of collaborations, large and small, which are build on a common infrastructure. At the same time, a global effort is defining an emerging “CyberInfrastructure,” a necessary but not sufficient foundation for creating collective knowledge. Creating and building on knowledge requires more than the capability to “mash up” information, it requires clear understanding of the context and quality of the information underlying the knowledge. Wikipedia epitomizes the promise and limitations of the collaborative Web. What would be needed to “build a better Wikipedia”? New infrastructure is emerging that combines the best from the Semantic Web, general purpose “Content Management,” provenance tracking, and other technologies to fill the gap between contemporary Web technology and formal Cyberinfrastructure. Social computing opens the door to creating collective knowledge through new capabilities to “mash up” content and “meet” on-line to create new collective artifacts of many kinds [9, 10]. The Web is home to a vast number of collaborations, large and small, with many purposes. These collaborations build on a common infrastructure which is used to implement different policies and cultures. At the same time, a global effort is defining an emerging “CyberInfrastructure”, to provide ubiquitous mechanisms for accessing shared resources [5]. On the face, there is a significant gap in design, implementation, and use between the formal Cyberinfrastructure and de facto practices on the Web [7]. CyberInfrastructure is a necessary but not sufficient foundation for creating collective knowledge [2, 3]. This is evident in a comparison of Grid-based collaboration

It includes a list of people to whom we loan our books. The application has four Java classes: 1. Person has fields for the person's name and a number which will be the maximum number of books this person can borrow at one time. 2. Book has fields for title, author, and the person who is currently borrowing the book. 3. MyLibrary contains a list of all of our books and a list of all of the people who might borrow them. It includes methods for checking books out to people and checking them back in. It also includes a main() method that simulates a user session. In the main() method, a new MyLibrary is created, books and people are created and added to it, and some books are checked out and check in. At various points, information about the MyLibrary object is printed to the system console. Download pdf Eclipse and Java: Using the Debugger Companion Tutorial Document
  • Websense Web Security Solutions
  • In the past, most Web content was static and predictable. But today’s reality is that Web content—even from so-called “trusted” sites—is constantly changing with end-users encouraged to post, edit, or manipulate content. The most popular and heavily-trafficked sites that make the most use of dynamic Web 2.0 content, are also the most vulnerable to attack. In fact, according to Websense® research covering the first half of 2008, over sixty percent of these top 100 sites either hosted malicious content or contained a masked redirect to an illegitimate site. Websense understands both the content and the context of the Internet landscape through its industry-leading ThreatSeeker™ Network, and feeds this intelligence into all its security solutions. Websense is the first security vendor to address the risks of Web 2.0 by deploying ThreatSeeker analytics inline at the customer’s gateway, providing dynamic, adaptive protection against new threats and uncategorized content. Websense customers can now harness the power of Web 2.0, while keeping security risks in check by examining the content of both inbound and outbound HTTP and SSL-encrypted traffic. Real-time content analysis is combined with powerful anti-malware, Web reputation, and URL filtering protection to proactively block malicious content before other security solutions even know it exists. This approach keeps networks secure, while still enabling the latest Web-based tools, applications, and legitimate content. Download pdf Websense Web Security Solutions
  • Dell Inspiron 8600 | GPU Heat Modification For the ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 ProTurbo pdf module
  • What you are doing in this mod is to replace Dell’s “Quality” thermal pads with a much more expensive and more effective alternative: copper. The copper acts as a partial medium to transfer exerted heat from the GPU’s core and Video Ram (VRAM) to the casing, the casing to the heat pipe, the heat pipe to the heat sink, the heat sink to the fan. The effectiveness of this is significant and allows safe overclocking with a heat level still lower than it was at all stock settings and parts. • New D Workspace If you are using only 2D AutoCAD ® commands, why not use the new 2D Drafting & Annotation workspace? This capability displays powerful 2D tools on the Dashboard. D Dashboard Control Panels New 2D control panels provide easy access to layers and include controls for annotation scaling, text, dimensions, multiple leaders, tables, 2D navigation commands, object properties, and block attributes. When you select a tool from the Dashboard, the corresponding tool palette also displays, where applicable. Tool Palettes When you drag geometry to an inactive tool palette, it is automatically activated for easy placement—just give it an extra second to switch. • A new Specify Image option on the shortcut menu makes it easy to assign an image to any tool. • The location of tools on a tool palette is now saved in the tool catalog (and the profile), making it easier to share your tool palettes with others and maintain the same look and feel. • Use TPNAVIGATE to set a tool palette current at the command line (for programming purposes). Clean Screen Use the Clean Screen button located in the lower-right corner of the screen to turn off everything except for the status and menu bars and the command window. This feature comes in handy when showing files to a client and you need to quickly clean up your interface. Download pdf Lynn Allen’s Tips and Tricks For Using AutoCAD 2008 Software
