  • Hyundai Sonata V6 Sedan Manual
  • Hyundai’s latest Sonata has stepped on a few toes in the large car segment. Externally the new V6 is almost identical to its four cylinder sibling –dual tailpipes being the only clue to the extra power. Yes, they share the same attractive Euro style body, but have decidedly different personas. DISLIKES Small front seats Light coloured trim marks easily well shaped, fine for a long trip, and the centre armrest is a welcome bonus. But anyone riding in the middle might feel short-changed by the lack of support. ERGONOMICS Functional and uncluttered, the dash layout is a model of simplicity. Large instruments face the driver, with the high set audio controls just to the left. Three rotary switches look after all of your air conditioning functions. The boot and fuel cap releases are tucked away under the driver’s armrest. Thanks to its large windscreens, front and rear vision is very good, making manoeuvring easy. SAFETY At this stage the Sonata hasn’t received an ANCAP safety rating. However the new bodyshell’s strength has been optimised in the virtual world using computer analysis, and confirmed in reality. Three hundred Sonatas were sacrificed in crash testing during the car’s development. The newcomer’s level of standard safety equipment reinforces its value for money. Dual front and side airbags, are complemented by front and rear curtain airbags. Active front head restraints and front seat belts with load limiters and pre-tensioners complete the package. Primary safety is aided by ABS equipped four wheel discs with Electronic Brake-force
  • How to Write Crap Code in C# - Anti-Patterns for Performance
  • This talk is all about writing performant code, not the other kinds of monstrosities that you might regard as crap code. We’ll leave obfustucated code to the Perl programmers, C# isn’t very good at it. Managed languages such as C# are often criticised for being slower than their counterparts such as C++. Often these claims are unfounded. I’ve worked on several projects where performance has been a problem and often people don’t understand why their code is running slowly. Typically they’ll blame the .NET runtime as the problem’s obvious there rather than in their own code. So what sort of performance pitfalls await the unwary? Inspired by the concept of proof by contradiction I decided to take a program and ignore Microsoft best-practises to see "How Slow It Could Go." I’ve written a simple application to analyse the complete works of Shakespeare that will allow me to demonstrate various techniques. The analysers have been written as plug-in modules so can I select one, click Analyse and it returns statistics for the text. All the analysers implement the same functionality, some more quickly than others. The operation is very simple. Each Shakespeare play is a separate textfile, the program scans all the text files in a folder. Splits the text into lines, removes any punctation and converts everything to lowercase. Each word is taken in turn and looked up in a master dictionary. If we have already encountered the word we increment the count of the number of times it has occurred, if

  • T-Splines Maya Plugin Version 1.6
  • After installing the T-Splines plugin, you need to tell Maya to use it. • On the menu, select Window -> Settings/Preferences -> Plug-in Manager. • Look for "TSplineShape" (it will be followed by .mll, .so, or .lib; this depends on your operating system). You may need to scroll down to find it. • Put a check in both the "loaded" and "auto load" boxes. This will load the plug-in and make sure it reloads every time you start Maya. After you load the plug-in, a "TSplines" menu should appear on the menu bar. Most of what you can do with the plug-in is accessed through this menu. The menu contains links to the T-Spline help pages, the forum, and to many of the operations that you can perform on T-Splines. Creating a Shelf To create a shelf with commonly used functions, choose "Create Shelf" from the T-Splines menu. If it's your first time creating the shelf, a new "TSplines" shelf will be added and will be filled with icons. If the shelf already exists, it will re-add any icons that may be missing. Even if you add your own icons to the shelf, you can safely "Create Shelf" again; it will not modify your existing icons. It's a good idea to use "Create Shelf" after upgrading to a new version of the plug-in, as we will probably add new icons on occasion. Download pdf T-Splines Maya Plugin Version 1.6
  • Understanding astigmatism
  • Astigmatism in an aberration that results when an optical system focuses two … exhibits no astigmatism. The lens is symmetric in the horizontal and Astigmatism in an aberration that results when an optical system focuses two orthogonal axes of light at two different distances in space. Holograms and holographic optical elements intentionally produce, or unintentionally suffer, from astigmatism. To explain the basic properties of astigmatism, though, we choose a simpler optical model using spherical and cylindrical refractive lenses. Spherical lens with no astigmatism The ideal version of the common spherical lens, of which a typical magnifying glass is an example, exhibits no astigmatism. The lens is symmetric in the horizontal and vertical directions (indeed, all directions), and thus has an optical power that doesn’t vary depending on whether the angle that light strikes the lens is
  • Replace with a database: O*NET replaces the Dictionary of Occupational Titles
  • O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, is replacing the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) as a source of occupational information. O*NET is a database—not a book, like the DOT. This database has the qualities of both an interactive library and a language. Serving as a library for information on the working world, O*NET allows everyone to access data on job characteristics and worker attributes. It includes information on the knowledge, skills, abilities, interests, preparation, contexts, and tasks associated with 1,122 O*NET occupations. Like a spoken language, O*NET acts as a medium for exchanging information. Workers benefit by exploring career options and learning which skills employers seek for specific types of work. Employers identify necessary skills to increase the efficiency of recruitment and training. Educational planners need O*NET to design instructional programs that teach the skills demanded in the workplace. O*NET has an organizing structure and a distinct vocabulary. An overview of the birth of O*NET precedes a more detailed look at its structure and content. Discussion of software applications that build upon O*NET follows. A final section tells how to obtain O*NET products. The table on page 4 and the diagram on page 5 highlight key points, and the sidebar starting on page 6 gives details on O*NET skills. Why O*NET? The Dictionary of Occupational Titles, first published in 1938, emerged in an industrial economy and emphasized blue-collar jobs. Updated periodically, the DOT provided useful occupational information for many years. But its usefulness waned as the economy shifted toward information and services and away from heavy

  • Beginner’s Tutorial for TrueCrypt with Ubuntu 6.06
  • TrueCrypt is a free open source on the fly encryption software. (On the fly means that all decryption is done within the memory and no decrypted data is written to the hard drive.) It works for many operating systems, including Windows and Linux (ie: Ubuntu 6.06). TrueCrypt works in two ways. It creates a TrueCrypt encrypted volume on your hard drive, which is basically a file, or it can encrypt entire hard disk partition or USB memory stick, but the latter topic is out of the scope of this guide. (Please refer to wwww.truecrypt.org for more information on how to encrypt an entire hard disk partition.) After TrueCrypt creates the encrypted volume - it can be mounted for anyone to use. No data stored on an encrypted volume can be read (decrypted) without using the correct password. Everything is encrypted including file names, folder names, contents of every file, free space, meta data, etc. In short, a TrueCrypt volume behaves like a real physical drive. You can imagine yourself moving your sensitive files to that volume( another hard drive). To have access to that volume, you’ll need a password. All the data that resides on the volume is encrypted and no one can read it without the right password. Download Beginner’s Tutorial for TrueCrypt with Ubuntu 6.06
