ZoneBench User GuideThe instructions and explanations in this guide assume that you understand how to operate your Macintosh computer. You should, for example, know how to choose, select, launch, and drag by using your mouse. In addition, you should also understand how the desktop, windows, dialog boxes, buttons and file/folders work within the Macintosh environment. For more information about these items, please refer to your Macintosh User?s Guide.
SpeedTools ZoneBench is a benchmarking application designed to measure the read and write speeds over an entire local storage device. That device can be either logical (such as a disk volume which is actually a RAID array made up of two or more disk drives) or physical (such as your internal ATA disk drive). ZoneBench also has the capability to measure the speed of read-only volumes such as a mounted CD or DVD data disc. ZoneBench does not measure the speed of burning recordable CD/DVD discs, however.
Measuring speeds across an entire device is important because most storage devices do not maintain consistent speeds across their entire storage area. For example, all modern hard disk drives get slower as data is accessed further and further toward the physical end of the drive. Conversely, CD and DVD ROM discs get faster as you access toward the physical end of disc. (This is because CD's and DVD's are read starting at the center of the disc moving progressively outwards.
Warning: ZoneBench is designed to be non-destructive. However, because ZoneBench reads and writes directly to your storage device, there isHarry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - Games Cheats Hints & Trainer PC GuideThe beginnig of an amazing journey Harry Potter, an orphaned eleven-year-old boy living with his aunt and uncle, learns that he is a wizard and leaves to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With Visual Studio 2008, organizations will find it easier than ever before to capture and analyze information to help them make effective business decisions. Visual Studio 2008 enables organizations of every size to rapidly create more secure, manageable, and reliable applications that take advantage of Windows Vista™ and the 2007 Office system.
Visual Studio 2008 delivers key advances for developers in three primary pillars:
- Rapid application development
- Effective team collaboration
- Breakthrough user experiences
This white paper discusses the different customer experiences that deliver on these three pillars through the following seven technology areas.
- Developing Smart Client Applications. Visual Studio 2008 delivers new and easy ways for developers to build smart clients. It provides a comprehensive set of tools and classes that simplify integrating smart clients with new or existing Web applications, and it enables local data caching for disconnected scenarios.
- Creating Microsoft Office Applications. Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) is fully integrated into Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. Developers can now customize various Office applications, such as Outlook® and PowerPoint®, to improve user productivity and simplify deployment.
- Building Windows Vista Applications. Developers can easily leverage new platform technologies, and deliver more compelling applications to their customers, by effortlessly incorporating new Windows Presentation Foundation features into both existing Windows Forms applications and new applications.
- Handling Data More Productively. The introduction of Language Integrated QueryBreaking Eggs And Making Omelettes: Intelligence Gathering For Open Source Software DevelopmentThere is an ongoing information war raging in the software world. Despite free software developers’ best efforts, new proprietary software continues to proliferate. Improved techniques must be developed to reverse engineer efficiently closed data formats so that free, interoperable solutions can be deployed under Linux.
Software reverse engineering occurs on various levels. It may be necessary to study a piece of poorly written, poorly commented code developed in a high-level language such as C++ and understand what the original program was supposed to accomplish. It may also be necessary to disassemble a program that has been compiled into machine language and express it as a higher-level language. In doing this, the underlying algorithms can eventually be expressed as higher-level concepts in a human language. After obtaining an algorithmic description via reverse engineering, the algorithm can be reimplemented for any language on any computing platform.
Scope
This paper discusses the technical issues and challenges surrounding software reverse engineering. This topic has always been the subject of much legal and ethical controversy, particularly with respect to such intellectual property ideas such as patents, trade secrets, and software ownership. However, that discussion is outside the scope of this paper.
Motivation
The Linux operating system, as well as free and open source software in general, has made extraordinary strides in the computer world in the past decade. Once confined to the back office server, Linux has become a more viable option for desktop computing. However, in order to create a desktop computing platform (and in some respects, a server)TC3250 Tire Changer PDFThe Hunter TC3250 can handle the tough combinations of today’s custom rims and performance tires. Exclusive Euro-Style features speed operation, allow safe and efficient handling of wheel and tire assemblies and provide extra measures to protect the operator. 1. Floating 3-point Articulated Mounting Arm s Faster and easier to use than any other design. s Unlike conventional rim-clamp mounting arms, there is no swing-arm obstruction when servicing extremely wide wheels and tires. s No need to adjust the arm away from the wheel; the head follows the rim without damage even if the wheel is clamped off center. s Exclusive polymer mount/demount head* removes the potential of steel-head contact damage.
Rides closer than steel head designs; reduces stress to tire and rim on low-profile tires. s Optional Mechanical Bead Pusher is great for handling stiff, low-profile tires.** Spring-Loaded Wheel Centering Support s “Lifts” tire to assist the operator upon release. Helps prevent back injuries. s Work surface remains at consistent height regardless of rim width. 3. Exclusive “Tulip” Wheel Clamping System 3 s Rubber-pad tulip clamping exerts uniform clamping strength – eliminates spinning and scoring damage to wheels. s Soft-grip clamping virtually eliminates alloy wheel damage inherent in steel-jaw/table-type or centerpost changers. s Eliminates potential “launch pad” effect that’s common to traditional table-top designs in the event of tire failure. s Easily adjusts for internal or external clamping of wheels up to 22? (optional kit extends clamping diameter to 26?). Download PDFMicrosoft Word Printing IssuesThere have been several reports of “printing problems” in MS Word reported over the last couple of months. After much research and testing, I believe that I have been able to determine the probable cause of these problems and a potential fix.
Microsoft Word is highly customizable program. The problem arises when changes are made to the default printer settings without the user knowing this has happened. This could be interpreted as a “corruption”, but if used as designed, it really is a feature. To better understand how to avoid this problem, users need to better understand one of the basic processes of the MS Word program. Word maintains a file called normal.dot. This is a template file – the basic pattern that Word uses every time that it starts a new blank document. This file can be customized if, for example, users always print to non-standard size paper or wanted specific margins or tabs.
The “problem” appears to be caused by changes being made to this normal.dot template. My guess is that there are one or more documents “floating around” where the template has been changed and the current user inadvertently updates their own normal.dot to match.

Every aspect of Web 2.0 is driven by participation. The transition to Web 2.0 was enabled by the emergence of platforms such as blogging, social networks, and free image and video uploading, that collectively allowed extremely easy content creation and sharing by anyone.
Standards
Standards provide an essential platform for Web 2.0. Common interfaces for accessing content and applications are the glue that allow integration across the many elements of the emergent web.
Decentralization
Web 2.0 is decentralized in its architecture, participation, and usage. Power and flexibility emerges from distributing applications and content over many computers and systems, rather than maintaining them on centralized systems.
Openness
The world of Web 2.0 has only become possible through a spirit of openness whereby developers and companies provide open, transparent access to their applications and content.
Modularity
Web 2.0 is the antithesis of the monolothic. It emerges from many, many components or modules that are designed to link and integrate with others, together building a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
User Control
A primary direction of Web 2.0 is for users to control the content they create, the data captured about their web activities, and their identity. This powerful trend is driven by the clear desires of participants.
Identity
Identity is a critical element of both Web 2.0 and the future direction of the internet. We can increasingly choose to represent our identities however we please, across interactions, virtual worlds, and social networks. We can also own and verify our real identities in transactions if we choose.

This information is not copyrighted (especially since I have borowed logos and trademarked names) so feel free to share it. Version 1.2 January 30, 2002 I was very frustrated! After creating six “coasters”, I thought there was no way to burn a bootable Mac CD using Toast. I followed their directions, the help I found on the Toast web site was unclear, and I downloaded someone else s instructions and just couldn’t do it.
While I’m not a computer expert, I have used Mac’s since (this dates me) 1985 and can probably do better troubleshooting and mechanical work than the geek that charges $75 an hour. So I poked around, put together the pieces of the puzzle and burned a bootable Mac OS CD. While I was doing that, I wrote this to help anyone else who was as frustrated as I was. Yes, it’s lengthy and detailed but if you follow step-by-step you won’t have any “coasters”. If you find any errors or omissions feel free to email me at thofts@mac.com. Thanks! - - Tom PS - Please keep the “stuffed” copy of this in your SHARED FOLDER so others on the network can get to it when I’m offline. –Thanks!
