The Civic Hybrid resembles a Civic 4-door sedan, except that it has a roof antenna above the windshield. It also has the words, “Hybrid” and “Gasoline-Electric,” on the back.
Most chassis and body components are made of standard materials like steel, aluminum, and plastic. A few parts are made of magnesium. Curb Weight The curb weight of the Civic Hybrid is 2,732 pounds (1,239 kg) for CVT vehicles, and 2,661 pounds (1,207 kg) for manual transmission vehicles. Vehicle Description GASOLINE ELECTRIC Engine The main power source is a 1.3 liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine located under the hood. Electric Motor During start-up and acceleration, the engine is assisted by a battery-powered electric motor, located between the engine and the transmission. During braking and deceleration, the electric motor acts as a generator to recharge the high-voltage battery and the 12-volt battery. Turning the ignition switch to either the Accessory (I) or the Lock (0) position turns off the engine and the electric motor. 12-Volt Battery The conventional 12-volt battery under the hood powers all standard electronics such as the lights, audio system,Virtools Tutorial: How to Setup 2D and 3D Sound in Your SceneThis tutorial shows how to playback and how to script sounds inside a virtual space. We will use the Wav and Mp3 sounds files included in the following sound folder. Please note that wav files will be used for looping a short and repetitive sound for example the rain. The mp3 compression allows to play longer sound files for example a song or background music.
A basic sound file can be saved in your Resource folder and imported into Virtools by drag and drop like the other assets. The sound file is placed in Level Manager > sound > Rain.wav. Go to Level Manager > sounds > Rain, Right.click on Rain.wav. In the Sound Setup , you can playback the sound, Step 1, or you can tweak Pitch, Gain, Pan, the sound parameters. These parameters are interactive BB in Virtools. Part 1 - Simple 2D Sound Playback In some cases, several flat background sounds or 2D sounds are all what you need. Sound file formats inside the Level Manager > sound folder can be played with the Wave Player BB. Sound from the Wave Player can be looped and turned on and off.

Editor: Tatiana Butovitsch Temm, Volvo Car Corporation THE PREGNANT CRASH-TEST DUMMY Researchers and car manufacturers already know a great deal about how best to protect adults and children in car accidents. But they still know surprisingly little about what happens to unborn babies. The Volvo Car Corporation has been carefully investigating the special safety and comfort needs of pregnant women since 2001.
Through this research, we have built a unique computer model of a pregnant crash test dummy named ”Linda”. BETTER UNDERSTANDING We continue to use Linda as a tool for reaching a better understanding of the injuries pregnant women and their babies can experience in a crash.

The phrase “You’ve got just 15 seconds to grab a user’s attention” is fast becoming a cliché, but it really sums up the idea. You’re no longer just creating an application, but a commercial or a TV show, and the user has his or her hand on the remote. It’s called surfing the Web for a reason. As a developer, you need to be keenly aware of the impact of architectural and implementation decisions on application performance and scalability. With this technology, as we are discovering, we are still dealing with a client/server model.
The Importance of Protocols
Have you ever seen a diplomatic meeting on a news report? Usually these events are very formal affairs with rules that were clearly defined beforehand. For diplomats, protocol is everything. It specifies the ceremony and etiquette and generally governs every aspect of interaction between nations. In short, it’s all about communication. For standards-based communication, protocols are everything as well. Internet protocols are agreed-upon standards for exchanging data between networks on diverse platforms and different environments.
Although understanding the entire network model is important, you’ll spend most of your time as a Web developer using the application-level protocols, such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol.
Hypertext Transfer Protocol
HTTP is known as a stateless protocol. It’s also one of the most highly used protocols in the process/application layer. Using HTTP for communication is normally divided into two parts: a request by the browser (or other client)Laser Cutter Tutorial - AutoCADThere are now two laser cutters available to you; the V-460 has a bed size of 18”x24” and the X-660 which has a bed size of 18”x32”. The laser cutters can do many things, like cut and engrave (or score). There are some tips for preparing your laser files in AutoCAD at the end of this document. For more information on approved materials the laser cutters can cut and score please refer to the “Laser Resources – Materials and Suppliers” document. General safety information is contained in the “Laser Resources – Materials and Safety” document.
During this tutorial we will be using AutoCAD to print to the laser cutters. There will soon be more tutorials for other programs that will allow raster engraving, like Photoshop.
This is a PDF, so you don’t need to print it!!
The first few steps of this tutorial involve setting up your AutoCAD file and these steps must be completed
on your own. Time is precious and this should not wait until you are logged onto the TBH computers.
The first step is to prepare your file by making two new layers, a layer named “Cut” and “Score”. The
laser printer uses settings files based on color; it assigns a certain power and speed setting to certain
colors. The settings that have been created for the laser plotters are this; The “Cut” color is RED (index
color 1) and the “Score” color is GREEN (index color 3).
So place the lines you wish to cut your material with on the cut layer (red), and
