Communication- The Communication screen configures parameters required for NDS to access your ECU. A. The port setting defaults will work for most users. Select a different COM port number if the port your cable is connected to is not COM 1. B. Address read command - specifies the command to be used for reading ECU memory data. Some ECUs with daughter boards use command other than the default. C. ECU Id - specifies target ECU. Engine ECU Id varies between regions and models. This is usually set to EF D. Find ECU -This button tests for active ECU IDs. E. 96 model z32 - Check the box if your car is a 1996 model year 300ZX. This setting allows for communication with 96 model 300zx OBDII complaint cars via the Consult I port. You may also have to check this box if your ECU is later than 1996 in some other models. F. Auto Connect to ECU - This checkbox should be selected if you want NDS to connect automatically to your ECU each time the program starts. Download pdf Nissan Data Scan User Manual
  • How to create a dynamic maelstrom in Maya 8.X
  • A tutorial on how to make an animated giant whirlpool with foam and spray. Inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. 1. Start by creating a NURBS or a polygon plane. NURBS is propably best, but I used polygons on this one. Make it a high resolution, like 80x80. 2. Go into Polygons>Mesh>Sculpt Geometry Tool. Or if using NURBS go into Surfaces>Edit NURBS>Sculpt Geometry. 3. Model a valley in the middle of your plane. 4. Select your plane and go to Animation>Deform>Create Nonlinear>Twist. Resize the deformer, so that it fits just like on the image to the right. 5. Start playing with the Start Angle under the derformer’s attributes. After finding a suitable value, then start sizing the plane. As we scale it through the y-axis, the deformed plane will now twist like a whirlpool. 6. Go to frame 1 and extend the duration of your timeline. I went with 400 frames. At frame 1 keyframe the scale of the y-axis. Size to the point, where you want the shape to begin. Then go to frame 400 and scale the y-axis out, so that the malstroem will be at its final state. Key- frame and watch the animation. Simple, but if done properly it looks cool. • Buffer Overflow Exploits: The Why and How
  • McAfee System Protection Solutions Table of Contents Unchecked buffers Exploiting the overflow Now, for the clever part Other types of buffer overflow exploits Preventing buffer overflow exploits Summary Buffer overflow exploits are the tool of choice of today’s attacker. These exploits have the most power, are the easiest to use, and are all too common. Buffer overflows constitute the largest single threat to enterprises today. • Buffer overflow exploits are very common. There are hundreds of known unchecked buffers that can be overflowed by hackers with more being discovered all the time. Over 60% of CERT advisories deal with buffer overflow exploits. • Buffer overflow exploits are easy to use. Nearly anyone (12 year olds and script kiddies included) can download buffer overflow attack code and follow a simple “recipe” to execute it. No advanced technical knowledge is necessary to run pre-written buffer overflow exploit code. • Buffer overflow exploits are very powerful. In many cases, the malicious code that executes as a result of a buffer overflow will run with administrator-level privileges, and therefore can do anything it wants to the server. • Using Dosch Textures
  • Using Dosch Textures in 3D Studio MAX In order to properly use the textures in 3D Studio MAX please verify the location (drive-letter; e.g. D: or E:) where your image-maps are located. Then open the File/Configure-Paths page in 3DSM, switch to the “Bitmap”-section and enter the path to the IMAGE-folder on your CD-ROM at the “Configure-Paths” setting If the Raytracer fails to find a texture in any of the 3DSM-default folders, it now automatically searches through the extra locations defined in the “Configure- Paths” on the “Bitmap”-page. To add a path to the Path-List, press the 'ADD'-button and select the folder containing the image-maps for your textures, e.g. the IMAGE-folder on the product's CD-ROM. Using Dosch Textures in LightWave3D / Inspire3D Load the *.lws or *.lwo files directly in LightWave 3D or Inspire3D. In some cases the image maps for the different material-layers may not load automatically. If a path-requester appears, locate the IMAGES-folder on the CD-ROM and select the appropriate image. • Cryptanalysis of Microsoft’s Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
  • The Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is used to secure PPP connections over TCP/IP links. In this paper we analyze Microsoft’s Windows NT implementation of PPTP. We show how to break both the challenge/response authentication protocol (Microsoft CHAP) and the RC4 encryption protocol (MPPE), as well as how to attack the control channel in Microsoft’s implementation. These attacks do not necessarily break PPTP, but only Microsoft’s implementation of the protocol. Many organizations and institutions are not centralized. Branch offices, virtual corporations, and traveling employees make the notion of running dedicated network connections to each location logistically impossible. The concept of virtual networking provides a solution to this problem by tunneling cojoined network space over other, transitory and insecure, networks (such as the Internet), thus enabling remote locations to appear to be local. This is done without the expense incurred from running leased lines or dedicated cabling to each location, and is sometimes called a “tunnel.” While virtual networks solve the problem of de- centralized machines, they create a new problem. They open up traffic that was previously considered internal to the company, to any prying eyes on the networks it traverses. Authentication and encryption are required to keep this virtual network traffic not only tamperproof but private. The result, virtual networking connections combined with cryptographic protections, is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The security of a VPN is based on the security of its authentication and encryption protocols. If a VPN’s cryptography is weak, then its security is no better than a non-private virtual
  • Moscow ML Owner’s Manual
  • Moscow ML implements Standard ML (SML), as defined in the 1997 Definition of Standard ML, including the SML Modules language and some extensions. Moreover, Moscow ML supports most required parts of the SML Basis Library. It supports separate compilation and the generation of stand-alone executables. This document explains how to use the Moscow ML system. A companion document, the Moscow ML Language Overview, summarizes Moscow ML syntax and the most common built-in functions [9]. Another companion document, the Moscow ML Library Documentation, describes in detail all Moscow ML library modules [10]. Get a copy of the Moscow ML system executables (see Section 20 for instructions) and unpack them in your home directory (under Unix) or in directory C: (under MS Windows and DOS). This creates a directory mosml. Read the flle mosml/install.txt. This manual, as well as the Moscow ML Language Overview and the Moscow ML Library Documentation, are in directory mosml/doc. The interactive system is invoked by typing mosml at the shell prompt. It allows you to enter declarations and evaluate expressions: You can quit the interactive session by typing ‘quit();’ or control-D (under Unix) or control-Z followed by new- line (under MS Windows and DOS). Type help “lib”; for an overview of built-in function libraries, and e.g. help “Array” for help on Array operations. See Section 3 for further information on mosml. Download Moscow ML Owner’s Manual
  • LMS 2.0: how to Select an advanced Learning System
  • Migrating to a new learning management system (LMS) has been likened to breaking into faculty classrooms, throwing their course materials into a moving van, and dumping them in a heap at the new location – leaving the faculty to sort and reorganize their course content long after IT support has driven off. This painful process can be averted by assessing faculty needs and expectations, and selecting a solution that supports seamless content migration and intuitive course management. That may be easier said than done. The $350 million market for LMSs is populated by more than 140 vendors whose mission is to support best practices in the preferred pedagogical approach of colleges and universities. The proliferation of academic computing solutions has cluttered the market with applications that are bloated with extraneous features. Too often, institutions are lured into the trap of deploying an LMS that is the current favorite, only to realize that these applications are too unwieldy and burdensome to use. In fact, nearly 24 percent of schools with LMS deployments experience buyers’ remorse and would change systems if they could, according to a 2007 study by Bershin and Associates. Common purchasing mistakes include failing to define system requirements, focusing on price rather than value, overlooking interoperability and scalability, and selecting customization instead of configuration. In addition, vendor lock-in so constrains many institutions that they believe they can’t switch to a new vendor without substantial real or perceived costs. At a price tag upwards of $35 per user to purchase and nearly twice
  • C# overloaded operators
  • In our examination of the C# programming language thus far, we’ve seen that classes are a basic design and structuring tool. For example, you might have an application that uses a lot of X,Y points, and you could implement a Point class using C# language features. Instances (objects) of this class would represent specific points like 123,456. Classes bring together both data (such as a pair of integers to represent points) and operations on that data (e.g., comparing one point to another). The operations are called methods, and in this column we’ll look at how methods can be specified using operator names. The idea is that a method’s name can be something like == instead of Equals , or + instead of add , and using such names leads to a natural way of expressing operations on objects.
