  • Advanced Lighting Tutorial
  • In this tutorial we delve deep into the Global Illumination and Environment system featured in Turtle 4.1 It takes some time with any rendering software to get to the point where you're confident in setting up a beautiful render. This tutorial will attempt to provide you with lots of shortcuts that can help you get really nice renders in Turtle and lay out a good workflow for lighting many different types of scenes. You'll also find in-depth technical notes on a lot of the components and concepts included in Turtle’s Global Illumination and Environment system. You can work through the examples without reading the technical notes if you wish, but be sure to look at them for reference later if needed. The first example we'll look at is an indoor/studio setup of an espresso cup on a table. Open the demo scene espresso.mb. The model should look pretty rough, we're using Turtle's builtin subdivison surface option for speed. Go ahead and render a frame and you should see a smoother cup, although there's no Global Illumination going on yet so it's pretty black. Download pdf Advanced Lighting Tutorial
  • Using Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy with Diskeeper
  • Diskeeper can be administered network-wide via several different methods. The primary network administration tool for Diskeeper is Diskeeper Administrator Edition, a single point of control for all your Diskeeper administration needs. However, sites using Microsoft Group Policy can use the Diskeeper.adm administrative template file available from Executive Software to control many aspects of Diskeeper operation through Group Policy. The Diskeeper.adm template file is available free of charge from the Executive Software web site at www.executive.com/diskeeper/grouppolicy.asp. Active Directory Users and Computers and the Group Policy Editor are the desktop tools used to administer Group Policy on your network. When the Diskeeper template is installed, these tools will allow you to configure Diskeeper options such as scheduling, defragmentation methods and defragmentation priority. Note: This section assumes you have a certain level of experience using the Group Policy Editor. Refer to the Microsoft Group Policy documentation for complete information about using the Group Policy Editor. 1. To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers. • Implementing a Web-based Calendar Tutorial
  • This tutorial is all about implementing a Web-based calendar using open source technology. Specifically Java Servlets, Tomcat Server and MySQL database. All tools used to create and implement this project are open source projects and are free for the download under the GNU License Agreement. The freeness of open source projects allows practitioners to explore new technologies without incurring a huge investment. Furthermore, the software gets better as the project evolves which benefits everybody, end-users and developers a like. This tutorial assumes that you are running Microsoft Windows. The tutorial has been tested under the Windows XP Professional operating system but should work fine under any of the Windows 2000 family. Summarizing what you will be doing in this tutorial comprises of four basic steps which should be completed in order. 1) Download the necessary tools and files (What you need and Where to get the download) 2) Install applications (Installation:) 3) Implementation and finally 4) Running the Web calendar The order in which you download the different tools or install them really doesn't matter except for the Java Virtual Machine(JVM) which needs to be installed first. This tutorial can be done in sections so you don't have to complete the whole tutorial in one sitting. Have fun with the tutorial and this useful application!!! • Avaya Communication Manager Little Instruction Book for Advanced Administration
  • Telecommunications security (of voice, data, and/or video communications) is the prevention of any type of intrusion to (that is, either unauthorized or malicious access to or use of) your company's telecommunications equipment by some party. Your company's “telecommunications equipment” includes both this Avaya product and any other voice/data/video equipment that could be accessed via this Avaya product (that is, “networked equipment”). An “outside party” is anyone who is not a corporate employee, agent, subcontractor, or is not working on your company's behalf. Whereas, a “malicious party” is anyone (including someone who may be otherwise authorized) who accesses your telecommunications equipment with either malicious or mischievous intent. Such intrusions may be either to/through synchronous (time-multiplexed and/or circuit-based) or asynchronous (character-, message-, or packet-based) equipment or interfaces for reasons of: • Utilization (of capabilities special to the accessed equipment) • Theft (such as, of intellectual property, financial assets, or toll facility access) • Eavesdropping (privacy invasions to humans) • Mischief (troubling, but apparently innocuous, tampering) • Harm (such as harmful tampering, data loss or alteration, regardless of motive or intent) Be aware that there may be a risk of unauthorized intrusions associated with your system and/or its networked equipment. Also realize that, if such an intrusion should occur, it could result in a variety of losses to your company (including but not limited to, human/data privacy, intellectual property, material assets, financial resources, labor costs, and/or legal costs) Download pdf Avaya Communication Manager Little Instruction Book for Advanced Administration

  • Yahoo! BLUEPRINT Mobile Application Platform
  • The Blueprint language is an XML markup set based partly on XForms. Applications are hosted on your own Web server, which must respond to HTTP requests from Yahoo!’s server by returning valid Blueprint pages; Yahoo’s server acts as an intermediary between your application and the end-user’s hand-held device. To host a Blueprint application, you must submit a package containing configuration and resource files to Yahoo!. The application package does not contain any Blueprint markup or scripting code; these are supplied directly by your server at runtime. There are several ways to deploy a Blueprint application. Options include browser-based Mobile Sites, Yahoo! Go Widgets, and stand-alone Mobile Apps (when available) Getting Started: 1 Download the SDK at mobile.yahoo.com/devcenter/downloads 2 Read the documentation at developer.yahoo.com/mobile/blueprint 3 Build your service on your own server and return Blueprint XML. 4 Read the Deployment Guide at developer.yahoo.com/mobile/blueprintdeployguide and publish your service at mobile.yahoo.com/developers/manage Download pdf Yahoo! • Maya 104: Dynamics
  • During this tutorial we’ll explore a number of features of Maya’s dynamics toolset. In part I - the ‘membrane pore tutorial’ - we’ll create a scene with a turbulent membrane that also has a ‘pore’ dynamically floating in it. Next we’ll create a swarm of molecules that collide with the membrane (and can otherwise only traverse it via the pore opening). We’ll gain finer control over the behavior of individual molecules in the swarm through the use of expressions. Finally, we’ll add goals to the entire swarm and control the degree to which these goals affect the swarm’s movement. In part II – the ‘blastocyst tutorial’ - we’ll look at how a piece of geometry can serve as a goal for particles. Specifically, we’ll create a blastocyst-stage embryo made up of blobby particles attracted to a sphere. We’ll control the behavior of these particles relative to the surface of the sphere. For the finale, we’ll squeeze the blastocyst out of the zona pellucida surrounding it by using a lattice deformer applied to the sphere. Download pdf Maya 104: Dynamics
