  • Ajax and Java development made simpler Part 4
  • Create JSF-like components, using JSP tag files Learn how to use deferred values and deferred methods in custom JSP tag JavaServer Pages (JSP) and JavaServer Faces (JSF) used to have different variants of the Expression Language (EL). Their unification in JSP 2.1 opened new possibilities, allowing you to use deferred values and deferred method attributes in your custom JSP tags. This article shows how to develop Java™ Web components based on JSP tag files, which are much simpler and easier to build than the JSF components. JSP and JSF are the most important Java standards that we use today for building Web applications. The philosophies of these two technologies are quite different, however. With JSP, the underlying mechanisms are simple, you control what is happening, and you have the freedom to do things how you want. JSF adds some complexity and processing overhead, but the application model is standardized, which means tools can do more for you, vendors can provide component libraries, and developers can focus on building applications. As Parts 2 and 3 of this series demonstrated, you don't really need a complex framework for building Web forms. If you like simplicity or if you need to develop a Web application quickly, you can use the JSP Standard Tag Library (JSTL) in combination with tag files and dynamic attributes. You'll be able to customize your components very easily, controlling the HTML output and the HTTP requests. Using the JSF framework together with a good component library may be the right choice if you are

  • The peculiar nature of services requires a multidisciplinary approach to investigate on their impact in the economic growth, to define models, to identify terminology, to describe scenarios and user profiles. The integration of several disciplines is a key point for the improvement of the Service Science capacity to find solutions and answers for services, especially for studying and designing new ICT services, the fastest growing segment within the service sector. • The SEO Book for WordPress 2.5 Blogs
  • Since the release of v2.5 many things have changed for WordPress users. While SEO still has some basic rules, optimizing a WordPress blog is getting easier as new plugins are added and upgraded. The most important change in WordPress v2.5 (and above) is the new improved dashboard. As with all change this revision triggered much controversy, pros, cons and confusion. Those users familiar with the previous versions of WordPress found it hard to adapt to the new interface, and many beginners found the navigation less intuitive than they expected. As any SEO professional would tell you, be forewarned that despite the ?social media traffic? generated through bookmarking sites and social networks like digg, StumbleUpon, mixx, Second Brain and so on, search engine optimization is still important. Poorly optimized sites don’t do well in social networking, for obvious reasons you’ll discover on subsequent pages. The success equation is simple: poor SEO = wasted traffic = poor conversions (lost sales). This short eBook will reveal the most important SEO aspects for WordPress blogs (and for any other blog or website in general). Hosting WordPress is the best content management system for blogs and it can also make a decent CMS for standard websites. However, there are some ?minor details? any WordPress user needs to understand before reading further. There are basically two blog solutions offered by WordPress: a CMS software script to download free and use on your own domain, or a free WordPress account where you can signup to create a free blog. However this would

Their catalog team is responsible for publishing product catalogs that are distributed to the sales force for generating new business. Every week or so, the catalog team receives spreadsheets of products that need to be included in upcoming catalogs. Information and images for any new products must be procured from the product manufacturer. Once all the data has been gathered, it is entered into a page layout program and printed. The catalog team finds this process very frustrating, because the spreadsheets are more often similar than not. Any given item might be going into multiple catalogs, so any changes to the item price, for example, must be made in multiple spreadsheets. Even worse, the team members have to pass documents back and forth, making sure to
