Britney’s Guide to Hacking NT in 5 Easy Steps TutorialThis paper is part of a series of educational pieces, to illuminate the importance of a secure environment on the Internet. Too often we hear or see “solutions” to the security problem, promising a silver bullet to stop hackers in their tracks. The scary part is, many IS managers take these promises as truth, and forget about security as soon as they have their firewall in place. Security is a work in progress, it is a job that is never done, an evolving ever changing landscape of problems, and it is easy to see why many people find the task so daunting, that it is swept under the carpet.
It is an expensive and time consuming job, and never easy to accomplish, but I believe these problems need to be brought to light and dealt with. In order to keep up with security needs, the latest exploits have to be tracked, systems patched, the network constantly monitored, and tested. New exploits appear daily, allowing script kiddies, as they are called, easy and complete access over your system, which may contain valuable or sensitive personal or financial data.

Here is what you will need to have: ” Wireless-enabled laptop: This means that you must have an Apple laptop with wireless capability built-in, or you must have an external wireless card. o As of this writing, the latest Apple laptops are the iBook G4 and PowerBook G4. Both of these have built-in Wireless capability 54-Mbps AirPort Extreme (Wi-Fi 802.11g). This will work on the GCC wireless network. o If your Apple laptop doesn t have built-in wireless capability, then please note that your card must be compatible with the 802.11b signal! That is, the card must say 802.11b or 802.11g on it.
If it says 802.11a only, then the card will not work on our network! ” Wireless network name: engarde ” Your eGCC Username and Password: If you are an employee here at GCC, your eGCC Username and Password usually is NOT the same as your Glory login information. While we have concentrated on Windows aspects, the equivalent systems should work without any difficulty on Linux. We will eventually test the generation of native Linux executables.
The advantage of compiled Eclipse application executables is that they do not require the JRE, they are self-contained except for the one swt dll. The applications can be distributed in zip format and can be moved around on a machine without requiring changes to the registry (there is no information saved in the Windows registry).
GCC and MinGW:
To compile Java applications to run on Windows, download the MinGW build of GCC/GCJ 3.3 for win32 from http://www.thisiscool.com/gcc_mingw.htm. This build uses a slightly older version of Eclipse (Eclipse 2.0.2) but it worked without any problems on the applications that we tested. This build includes a build of the SWT libraries so that the entire Eclipse application can be compiled. (The Swing libraries have not yet been ported to GCC/GCJ.) Special thanks are due to Mohan Embar and Ranjit Mathew for their work in building this win32 version.

This document is intended to be a quick reference. For more details, download the whitepaper Changes between the ASP.NET AJAX (“Atlas”) CTP and the RC and RTM Release from the http://ajax.asp.net Web site. Note This document assumes that you have an application created with the RC release. If you are migrating an application from the CTP release, see the document "Converting Applications from 'Atlas' CTP to ASP.NET AJAX RTM" on the http://ajax.asp.net Web site.
Migrating an existing application requires the following steps:
1. Installing the new ASP.NET AJAX release.
2. Updating existing ASP.NET Web pages that use the AutoCompleteExtender control.
3. Modifying the application configuration (Web.config file).

Ä CAUTION: Do not add optional hardware devices to your computer until the operating system is successfully installed. Doing so may cause errors and may prevent the operating system from installing properly.
CAUTION: Once the automatic installation has begun, DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER UNTIL THE PROCESS IS COMPLETE. Turning off the computer during the installation process might damage the software that runs the computer. 1.1 Microsoft Windows 98/Me/XP The first time the computer is turned on, Microsoft Windows is automatically installed. This takes approximately 10 minutes, depending on the system hardware configuration. At the beginning of the installation process, you are prompted to select the appropriate language for the operating system. Read and follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the installation. During this process, do not turn off your computer unless you are directed to do so. If you are installing a SCSI controller into a Windows XP environment the system should recognize the Plug and Play device automatically and prompt you for the proper device driver.

IT professionals can remotely control and configure systems, install software, offer live online help to end users, and assemble detailed software and hardware reports for an entire Mac network.
You can use Apple Remote Desktop to:
• Manage client computers and maintain, upgrade, and distribute software
• Collect more than 200 system-information attributes for any Mac on your network. Store the results in an SQL database and view the information using one of several hardware or software reports.
• Provide help and remote assistance for users when they encounter problems
• Interact with users by sending text messages, observing and controlling users’ screens, and sharing their screens with other client users
With Apple Remote Desktop software, you can access your office computer, documents, and applications while you’re away from the office. Used in a classroom, Apple Remote Desktop enhances the learning experience and allows teachers to monitor and control students’computers. In corporate environments, it’s the ideal solution for managing remote systems, reducing administration costs, and increasing productivity.
Using This Guide
The ARD Administrator’s Guide contains chapters to help you use Remote Desktop. It contains overviews and explanations about ARD’s features and commands. It also explains how to install and configure ARD on clients, how to administer client computers, and how to use Remote Desktop to interact with computer users. In addition, this guide is provided on the ARD installation disc and on the Apple Remote Desktop support website as a fullyCD Recorder Model CDR300 User GuideThe lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. PageR provides a central event console that can collect, filter and display status and event information for all server and TCP/IP devices on your local or worldwide network. Events, whether normal status updates or critical warnings, can be flagged to automatically and immediately trigger alert notifications to remote personnel via mobile phones, pagers, PDA’s, email, broadcast message and more. You can even have PageR run scripts and commands or launch applications, notify emergency services, turn on fans or backup air conditioners, and more when events occur. PageR is unique in the range of events and servers that it monitors, from basic “Are you there?” network pings to complex computer room environment monitoring, server crash detection and web page / server monitoring. On Windows NT/2K/XP/2K3 servers, any event written to an Event Log (i.e. System, Security, Application) can be used as a trigger for immediate, remote notification and corrective action. This article introduces the incredibly easy-to-use Ajax support that is part of the Ruby on Rails web application framework. This is not a step-by-step tutorial, and I assume that you know a little bit about how to organize and construct a Rails web application. If you need a quick refresher, check out Rolling with Ruby on Rails, Part 1 and Part 2.
Just in case you've been stranded on a faraway island for most of the year, here's the history of Ajax in 60 seconds or less. In the beginning, there was the World Wide Web. Compared with desktop applications, web applications were slow and clunky. People liked web applications anyway because they were conveniently available from anywhere, on any computer that had a browser. Then Microsoft created XMLHttpRequest in Internet Explorer 5, which let browser-side JavaScript communicate with the web server in the background without requiring the browser to display a new web page. That made it possible to develop more fluid and responsive web applications. Mozilla soon implemented XMLHttpRequest in its browsers, as did Apple (in the Safari browser) and Opera.
XMLHttpRequest must have been one of the Web's best kept secrets. Since its debut in 1998, few sites have used it at all, and most developers, if they even knew about it, never used it. Google started to change that when it released a series of high-profile web
