  • Mac OS - Make A Bootable MAC CD using Toast Guide
  • This information was compiled from the Roxio Toast web site, other Mac users, and my own experience. This information is not copyrighted (especially since I have borowed logos and trademarked names) so feel free to share it. Version 1.2 January 30, 2002 I was very frustrated! After creating six “coasters”, I thought there was no way to burn a bootable Mac CD using Toast. I followed their directions, the help I found on the Toast web site was unclear, and I downloaded someone else s instructions and just couldn’t do it. While I’m not a computer expert, I have used Mac’s since (this dates me) 1985 and can probably do better troubleshooting and mechanical work than the geek that charges $75 an hour. So I poked around, put together the pieces of the puzzle and burned a bootable Mac OS CD. While I was doing that, I wrote this to help anyone else who was as frustrated as I was. Yes, it’s lengthy and detailed but if you follow step-by-step you won’t have any “coasters”. If you find any errors or omissions feel free to email me at thofts@mac.com. Thanks! - - Tom PS - Please keep the “stuffed” copy of this in your SHARED FOLDER so others on the network can get to it when I’m offline. –Thanks! • Introduction to MySQL on Windows
  • MySQL is an open source relational database management system which is quite popular for light-weight web applications. Over the last few years, the product has also added some features which allow it to be used for larger business tools. This paper will provide an overview of this software on Windows. MySQL does not have as many features as PostgreSQL, and while many of the more advanced features are not as mature. However one would expect it to perform substantially better than PostgreSQL on Windows because of its thread-based architecture (PostgreSQL uses a process-based architecture instead). Note for Vista Users The MySQL installation requires that User Account Control (UAC) is disabled. If you do not do this, the installation will fail when the system tries to start the service, even if the user allows the change. To disable UAC, go to the Control Panel: Download pdf Introduction to MySQL on Windows
  • 2000 Chevrolet Camaro Owner’s Manual
  • The best way to protect the fetus is to protect the mother. When a safety belt is worn properly, it’s more likely that the fetus won’t be hurt in a crash. For pregnant women, as for anyone, the key to making safety belts effective is wearing them properly. Right Front Passenger Position The right front passenger’s safety belt works the same way as the driver’s safety belt. See “Driver Position” earlier in this section. Air Bag System This part explains the air bag system. Your vehicle has air bags — one air bag for the driver and another air bag for the right front passenger. Frontal air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of injury from the force of an inflating air bag. But these air bags must inflate very quickly to do their job and comply with federal regulations. Here are the most important things to know about the air bag system.. • Virtools Quick Start Manual
  • The Quick Start tutorial is your introduction to the power and simplicity of Virtools Dev. The Quick Start tutorial is structured very much like a real project in Virtools Dev. You will follow these steps: 1. organize resources 2. plan the content to be implemented - what do you want the composi- tion (CMO) to do? 3. import the media; the models and characters that form and inhabit the world 4. arrange the scene 5. implement interactivity within the scene 6. test the scene 7. refine the scene based on the results of your tests 8. go back to (6) and continue to test and refine until you are satisfied that the scene meets the requirements you chose in (2) 9. release the composition NOTE In actual production, you would plan the content before organizing the resources. However this is a Quick Start tutorial, so things are done a bit differently! Organize Resources This tutorial uses models contained in the data resource VirtoolsResources. VirtoolsResources are normally installed by default. However, if you chose not to install this component, you will have to launch the installation program Download Virtools Quick Start Manual

  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) Mac OS X Integration Guide Manual
  • In the architecture of a server solution, supply of electrical power is a single point of failure. If electrical power is lost, servers can fail without warning and software corruption can occur even with journaled file systems. UPS devices protect from voltage spikes, surges, overvoltage, undervoltage and other nastiness. They protect the most expensive and critical elements of IT infrastructure. A UPS also gives critical systems enough time to gracefully shut down and switch off before the UPS batteries are exhausted. If possible an email message can be sent to the outside world before everything goes dark. Systems can also be configured and scripted to return automatically once power has restored and a minimum battery capacity has been reached. Unfortunately, even where a UPS has been purchased, the majority of installations I have come across have little or no configuration in place. It is not just a case of buying a UPS off the shelf and plugging it in. Armed with a little more information and a bit of extra time, a UPS can be used to offer much better protection from power failure events. This document is intended to assist with specifying and deploying UPS for Apple server installations. Implementation Process ” Identify devices requiring UPS protection; ” calculate power draw; ” estimate run time requirements; ” specify required UPS battery capacity; ” select manufacturer and model; ” install on site with appropriate electrical wiring; ” configure UPS communications and software for graceful shutdown and restart sequences; ” scheduled testing;
  • Stupid and Useful Microsoft Word Tricks
  • You should be aware that MS Word has several built-in features designed to “autocorrect” the text. This is because the program is designed for business users (for the most part), and often these corrections will not be appropriate for academic papers. However, you should realize that this feature is a problem. Here is a partial list of stupid “auto-corrections” that you might encounter: 1. The computer might try to turn prose text into outline format. You will suddenly observe your work as a numbered list. 2. In a similar fashion, the computer might take an outline and change the format – including its font, indentation, and text size. 3. The computer might try to change URLs into web addresses (highlighted in blue) which can be linked if the computer is online all the time. This is prohibited in MLA format. For example, a web address should read < http://www.mla.org> rather than http://www.mla.org. 4. The computer may convert ordinal numbers (such as 1st) to superscripted text (such as 1st). Most documentation styles do not allow superscripted text. 5. Initially, MS Word sets margins at 1.25 inches. MLA requires 1-inch margins. Consequently, you must correct this manually. To do so, the Mac user must click on the Format option of the menu bar (at the top of the screen), and select Document. Next, select Margins and adjust them to 1 inch. PC users should manually adjust the margin-ruler near the top of the screen. 6. Word users should also be aware that font changes take effect for text
