Virtools Quick Start ManualThe Quick Start tutorial is your introduction to the power and simplicity of Virtools Dev. The Quick Start tutorial is structured very much like a real project in Virtools Dev. You will follow these steps: 1. organize resources 2. plan the content to be implemented - what do you want the composi- tion (CMO) to do? 3. import the media; the models and characters that form and inhabit the world 4. arrange the scene 5. implement interactivity within the scene 6. test the scene 7. refine the scene based on the results of your tests 8. go back to (6) and continue to test and refine until you are satisfied that the scene meets the requirements you chose in (2) 9. release the composition NOTE In actual production, you would plan the content before organizing the resources.
However this is a Quick Start tutorial, so things are done a bit differently! Organize Resources This tutorial uses models contained in the data resource VirtoolsResources. Each MrSID image file contains data from multiple resolutions stored in a single pixel database. The MrSID Viewer starts viewing an image at the smallest resolution view, and allows complete control to zoom, pan, navigate and investigate through larger and smaller zoom levels. The Viewer uses Selective Decompression” to decode only the portion of an image necessary for viewing. This makes rapid viewing of large images possible, while maintaining maximum image quality. With the MrSID Stand Alone Viewer, you can also export any part of the image to TIFF at any resolution.
The MrSID Stand Alone Viewer is available at no charge for individual use, so that the largest possible number of people have the ability to view MrSID imagery. For example, the software that accompanies the kindergarten level of Reading Mastery has three types of games. In one game, a computer character says a word and the student chooses the printed word from a set that appears on the screen. The words in this game come directly from Reading Mastery, and utilize the same specialized orthography. In the vocabulary game from the second-grade level of the program, students match vocabulary words with definitions, again based upon the vocabulary instruction in Reading Mastery. Students can also play a powerful comprehension game that provides reinforcement to students for remembering what they have read.
