Adaptive algorithms are an important technique to achieve portable high performance. They choose among solution methods and optimizations according to expected performance on a particular machine. Grid environments make the adaptation problem harder, because the optimal decision may change across runs and even during runtime. Therefore, the performance model used by an adaptive algorithm must be able to change decisions without high overhead. In this paper, we present work that is modifying previous research into rapid performance modeling to support adaptive grid applications through sampling and high granularity modeling. We also outline preliminary results that show the ability to predict differences in performance among algorithms in the same program.

This section will introduce the Ondex Visualisation ToolKit user interface. A network consists of genes/proteins/metabolites as concepts and interactions represented as links i.e. relations between concepts. Firstly, we will explain how to install and run the OVTK. Secondly, we will look at the basic user interface of OVTK. Then we will load up a network to show all menu features of OVTK and some of the core functionality such as layout algorithms, annotators and filters.

System is equipped with a cycling clutch system that uses an expansion valve in refrigerant line between condenser and evaporator, near condenser. System is engaged when A/C switch on control panel is pressed. See Fig. 1. Pressure switch on accumulator cycles compressor clutch on and off. Blower fan speed is controlled by sliding switch on lower left of A/C-heater control panel.

Convergence – Mobile Web 2.0

The evolution of Web 2.0 has deep roots in our human psyche. Web 2.0 is about connecting two or more users with each other, creating communities, connecting assets to owners and growing virally. Enterprise Web 2.0 involves another level of engagement by connecting assets to people, and enterprises to enterprises. Tangible “connected value” comes in various shades, leaving the phylogeny difficult to define.

Declarative Web 2.0

Web 2.0 applications have become popular as drivers of new types of Web content, but they have also introduced a new level of interface design in Web development; they are focusing on richer interfaces, user-generated content, and better interworking of Web-based applications. The current foundations of the Web 2.0, however, are strictly imperative in nature, which makes it difficult to develop applications which are robust, interoperable, and backwards compatible. Using a declarative approach for Web 2.0 applications, this new wave of applications can be built on a more robust foundation which is more in line with the Web’s style of using declarative methods whenever possible. We show a path how today’s imperative Web 2.0 applications can be regarded as a testbed as well as a first implementation for a revised version of Web 2.0 technologies, which will be based on declarative markup rather than imperative code.

Web 2.0 Handouts

During the 25 years that I have delivered professional development activities for educators, I have always tried to model the technologies and techniques that I was teaching. In recent years, the efforts have had less to do with specific technologies, software products, services, and much more to do with philosophies where learning happens as part of continuing and multi-dimensional conversations among learners and teachers, and others on the Net. This is what the emerging new web, web 2.0 has done to my vision of education.
