  • Understanding Microsoft's Web Technologies
  • In the beginning, the World Wide Web (WWW) was flat. It was an electronic library where academics and scientists posted dissertations and dusty data for reading with clunky, text-only browsers. With the advent of graphical browsers, the consumer oriented Web took off. Content became vastly more colorful. Remember where you were the first time you experienced the exciting blink and marquee tags? (I bet you wish you could forget those gems!) Anyway, the Web has evolved as a rich, interactive, and personalized medium. In the new version of Web (Web 2.0), functional pages aren’t enough. User experience (abbreviated as UX in geekspeak) is hot, and sites are cool. This chapter looks at Microsoft’s tools and technologies for creating and delivering engaging Web content. Microsoft has a range of tools for authoring Web pages that appeal to several skill levels. Some tools are more suited to Web page design, while others are more appropriate to programming. Microsoft Office (Including Word 2007) When Bill Gates realized that Microsoft was lagging on the Internet front, the word went out to integrate Web support into every product. As a result, you can save Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint slides as Web pages. Many companies use the Office suite to place information on their intranet because most employees are comfortable in Word and Excel. These tools are quite adequate for creating static Web content that some call brochure ware. Although somewhat bloated, the pages are faithful reproductions of the original document — especially when viewed in Microsoft’s latest Internet Explorer

It was felt, as the industry had been given a full 13 months to react to the original threat discovery, and responsible manufacturers had engineered and released firmware upgrades, that the time had come for full disclosure. • Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Restoration & Retouching Tutorials
  • 1. What is the Patch Tool 1.) The Patch tool lets you repair a selected area with pixels from another area or a pattern. 2.) Like the Healing Brush tool, the Patch tool matches the texture, luminosity, and color of the sampled pixels to the source pixels. 3.) When repairing with pixels from the image, select a small area to produce the best result. 2. How to Use the Patch Tool … the Cliff Notes version … followed by step-by-step tutorials. 1.) In a nutshell – you make a selection with the Patch tool or any selection tool, drag the selected area with the Patch tool, and upon releasing the mouse the healing technology will make the repair. 2.) The most important decision to make before using the Patch tool is whether to patch from source, from destination or from pattern. Before using the Patch tool take a moment to evaluate the image and image damage to decide which of the three options to use. • Patching from Source = circle the damaged area and move the selection to good image information. Use this choice when the damaged area is uneven, ragged, and/or within similarly toned areas. • Patching from Destination = circle good image information and move the selection over the damaged image area. Use this choice when you need to match a pattern or lines in the image. • Patching from Pattern = the least used option – yet very useful method to quickly repair damage that is spread throughout the image. To use this method you

  • CREATING A HIGH-KEY LOOK TO YOUR PHOTO – PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL
  • In this tutorial, you will learn how to alter a typical color portrait so that it looks like a professional high- key studio shot. Here are the before and after photos: Open up the photo you want to use. Then desaturate your photo by clicking on Image / Adjustment / Desaturate. Now we will kick it up a notch by altering the curves. To do this, click on Image / Adjustment / Curves. You will need to adjust the input and output numbers of your curve. Hover your mouse over the diagonal line and then click once. The input and output number boxes will now be visible. Change the Input number to 171 and the Output number to 240. Then click OK In order to blur out the background a bit, we will add a Gaussian blur. First, make a duplicate of your photo by right-clicking on it in the Layers Palette You will now have two layers. The bottom layer is your original and the top layer is your duplicate. Now add a guassian blur to this duplicate (top) layer by clicking on Filter / Blur / Gaussian Blur. Change the radius to 30.0. In order to have just the background blurred and your subject’s features (eyes, nose, mouth) nice and sharp, we will add a layer mask to the blurred layer and erase some of this layer to expose the sharp image beneath.
