  • Concepts in Programming Languages Review
  • This book is concerned with concepts in programming languages, issues in their implementation, and how language design affects program development. It is aimed at upper-level undergraduate students and beginning graduate students with some experience in procedural and OO programming. Functional programming experience is claimed to be helpful but non-essential. As a teaching text, it competes with a similarly-named book by Sebesta, a book by (Wilson and) Clark, and others. Like most books in this area, it is mostly organised by concept (rather than by language), with a (here, relatively short) history of programming languages at the beginning. The “foundational” chapters are then concerned with computability, Lisp, syntax, semantics and functional programming. Next, a number of chapters deal with the traditional concepts in procedural languages, followed by a third section on object-oriented programming. The final chapters, as usual in texts in this area, deal with concurrency and logic programming (the latter chapter is by Krzystof Apt). As one might have expected from the author, this book is an extremely rich source of important information, subtle issues, and diverse and challenging exercises. This makes it an excellent text for further reading. As an introductory text, however, it is less suitable. This is mostly due to structuring and content, and partially to bias. As an example of problems with structure and content, consider (parametric) polymorphism. Chapter 5 uses the ML “length” function as an example (without giving its type), and mentions polymorphism four pages later as a subject to be covered in Chapter 6. Then,

  • Forensic Analysis of Microsoft Internet Explorer Cookie Files
  • Since HTTP is a stateless protocol, websites must place information on a user’s computer if it needs to save information about a web session. For instance, when a user selects a widget and adds it to his shopping cart, that information can be saved on the client computer rather than the web server. The facility to save information in this manner is known as Cookies. A cookie is a small file containing data that the web server places on a user’s computer so it may request back at a later date. During forensic analysis it is often relevant to parse the information in Internet Explorer’s cookie files into a human readable format. Cookies aid forensic analysts during the investigation by providing insight to a suspect’s internet activity. After analysis of several example cookie files it was found that the format is relatively simple to understand. This paper will document the format of Internet Explorer’s (IE) cookie files for forensic analysis purposes and provide an open source tool to parse the information into a human readable format. • Opel Airbag Reset Tool User Manual PDF
  • Opel Airbag Reseter, after the car crashed and the airbag had been deployed, Opel airbag sensor will always stay locked (Control unit faulty or deployed) and must be replaced. Even after a small accident Airbag sensor will write into its internal memory an error message “crash data stored” or “computer fault” and after that you need to replace this expensive sensor to a new one. With our Opel Airbag Reset Tool you can reset and repair the airbag computer in your workshop in 1 minute. No need to remove airbag sensor from the car. How to operate the Opel Airbag Reseter: Connect this tool to Opel OBD II connector (for cars from year 1996-2002). RED button is for airbag “crash data” erase.Push this button once and wait: Yellow light start to flash and after 15 second green light inform you that “crash data” is erased. Red light set ON if erasing is not successful. Yellow button is for erase airbag “fault memory” or “errors”. If airbag warning lamp go OFF and immediately ON - evaluate airbag “error memory” using other equipments and repair according error code. When apply the +12V power supply to Opel airbag reseter ,the yellow light will flash 10 times. This indicates the system is self checking .After this, it will goes back to normal operation. Opel Airbag Reset Tool has incorporated a fully automatic airbag sensor type recognition. It works without additional computer and through the car OBD II connector, it can erase airbag sensor “crash data”

  • Safe Runtime Examination of Data Structures in C Programs
  • What: We are developing a tool to track variables and their values in C programs as they change at runtime. Because of the low-level, unrestricted memory access the language allows, the challenge lies in collecting accurate information without disrupting the program’s execution. Our approach combines techniques from profiling with memory tracking to analyze dynamic allocation throughout the lifetime of a program. Why: Dynamic program analysis provides useful tools for documenting, debugging, and improving the quality of programs. An example is the Daikon tool, which detects likely invariants (logical statements) about variables in programs. Daikon uses separate front-ends to observe the execution of Java, Perl, and C programs, but the current C front-end [2] has limited functionality. The freedom that C gives programmers to control the contents of memory presents a challenge to such automated tools when determining which variables are valid and what they refer to. A robust C front-end for Daikon is important so that it can be used with the abundance of software written in that language. The source-rewriting approach employed by the current C front-end works well only for small, self-contained, and well-behaved programs because it changes the layout of a program’s data structures. We are implementing a new approach that is applicable to a larger class of programs, including those that require access to external libraries. This enhanced support will allow us to compare Daikon-based techniques with ones developed by other researchers using standard benchmarks. It will also support investigations into how dynamic invariant detection can be
