It takes some time with any rendering software to get to the point where you're confident in setting up a beautiful render. This tutorial will attempt to provide you with lots of shortcuts that can help you get really nice renders in Turtle and lay out a good workflow for lighting many different types of scenes. You'll also find in-depth technical notes on a lot of the components and concepts included in Turtle’s Global
Illumination and Environment system. You can work through the examples without reading the technical notes if you wish, but be sure to look at them for reference later if needed. The first example we'll look at is an indoor/studio setup of an espresso cup on a table. Open the demo scene espresso.mb.
The model should look pretty rough, we're using Turtle's builtin subdivison surface option for speed. Go ahead and render a frame and you should see a smoother cup, although there's no Global Illumination going on yet so it's pretty black.

The heart of a speech recognition system is known as the speech recognition engine. The speech recognition engine recognizes speech input and translates it into text that an application understands. The application decides what to do with the recognized text. It can transcribe it literally for dictation, or it can act on it for commands.
Applications can access the speech recognition engine through a speech recognition API. For ViaVoice, this API is known as the Speech Manager API, or SMAPI, for short. SMAPI is a conventional API. This means that the API is defined as part of the resource; in this case, SMAPI is defined as part of the speech engine. With an API, speech becomes a resource to all applications, just like any system resource (mouse, video, and so on). Now that you’ve convinced the client that you can create a cool web site to complement the client’s store activity, it’s time to stop celebrating and start thinking about how to put into practice all the promises made to the client. As usual, when you lay down on paper the technical requirements you must meet, everything starts to seem a bit more complicated than initially anticipated.
It is strongly recommended to consistently follow an efficient project-management methodology to maximize the chances of the project’s success, on budget and on time. Most project-management theories imply that an initial requirements/specifications document containing the details of the project you’re about to create has been signed by you and the client. You can use this document as a guide while creating the solution, and it also allows you to charge extra in case the client brings new requirements or requests changes after development has started. See Appendix B for more details.
To ensure this project’s success, you need to come up with a smart way to implement what you’ve signed the contract for. You want to make your life easy and develop the project smoothly and quickly, but the ultimate goal is to make sure the client is satisfied with your work. Consequently, you should aim to provide your site’s increasing number of visitors with a pleasant web experience by creating a nice, functional, and responsive web site by implementing each one of the three development phases described in the first chapter.
