  • SEMANTIC AND PERCEPTUAL MANAGEMENT OF SOUND EFFECTS IN PRODUCTION
  • Main professional sound effects (SFX) providers offer their collections using... methods in a commercial sound effect management system. INTRODUCTION SEMANTIC AND PERCEPTUAL MANAGEMENT OF SOUND EFFECTS IN PRODUCTION SYSTEMS P. Cano, M. Koppenberger, S. Le Groux, J. Ricard and N. Wack Univeitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain ABSTRACT Main professional sound effects (SFX) provide offer their collectio using standard text-retrieval technologies. SFX cataloging is an error-prone and labor couming task. The vagueness of the query specification, normally one or two words, together with the ambiguity and informality of natural languages affects the quality of the search: Some relevant sounds are not retrieved and some irrelevant ones are presented to the user. The use of ontologies alleviates some of the ambiguity problems inherent to natural languages, yet they pose othe. It is very complicated to devise and maintain an ontology that account for the level of detail needed Download
  • Mobile Web 2.0: The new frontier
  • The main focus of this research is on the support and enhancement of face to face teaching and learning by using wireless mobile devices (WMDs or smartphones) as a means to leverage the potential of current and emerging collaborative and reflective e-learning tools (e.g. blogs, wikis, RSS, instant messaging, podcasting, social book marking, etc…). These are often called “social software” or web2.0 tools. The research project links the use of freely available mobile friendly web2.0 tools accessed via a smartphone with the learning objectives of a variety of different tertiary education courses. The smartphone’s wireless connectivity and data gathering abilities (e.g. photoblogging, video recording, voice recording, and text input) allow for bridging the on and off campus learning contexts – facilitating “real world learning”. The research is focusing on social constructivist approaches to education (Bijker et al., 1987; Lave & Wenger, 1991; Vygotsky, 1978; Wenger et al., 2002) and a conversational model (Laurillard, 2001, 2007) of teaching and learning. The disruptive nature of web2.0 and mobile technologies (Sharples, 2000, 2001, 2005; Stead, 2006) facilitates a move from instructivist pedagogies to social constructivist pedagogies. The personal, social networking, and context awareness of mobile devices democratise power relationships and are best suited to open learning environments. Disruptive technologies are those technologies that challenge established systems and thinking, requiring change and are thus viewed by many as a threat to the status quo. Disruptive technologies democratise institutional learning environments challenging the established power relations between teachers and students. Mishra et al (2007) argue that “appropriate

  • Enter the Matrix - Games Cheats Hints & Trainer PC Guide
  • Enter the Matrix is just another example of a movie franchise that had to have a game sequel. Unfortunately, it was slated to appear in the same time with the movie in question, having the producers rush the development and finally releasing a somewhat unfinished game on the market (and if you were to ask me, a bad looking one at that). The game doesn’t follow the adventures of Neo as we might have expected, but in terms, it follows the story of a small character, at least in the movie and it’s used as a pretext for filling some of the gaps in the original script. Cheat mode: Enter the Hacking engine in the game. Enter CHEAT.EXE and the cheat menu will be unlocked. Enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding effect. • Open Source Physics: A User's Guide with Examples
  • The Open-Source Physics project is a synergy of curriculum development, computational physics, and physics education research. One goal of the project is to make a large number of Java simulations available for education using the GNU Open-Source model. This manual describes some of the classes and interfaces that are being used in this project. Portions of Open Source Physics are being incorporated into the following: • Java edition of An Introduction to Computer Simulation Methods by Harvey Gould, Jan Tobochnik, and Wolfgang Christian. • Statistical and Thermal Physics project by Harvey Gould and Jan Tobochnik. • Easy Java Simulations high-level modelling tool by Francisco Esquembre. • Tracker video analysis program by Doug Brown. Programmers wishing to adopt Open Source Physics tools for their own projects are encouraged to do so provided that these projects release their source code under the GNU Open-Source GPL license. Open Source Physics code is being distributed using CVS from the SourceForge web site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/os-physics/ Additional curricula material and links are available from the Open Source Physics server hosted at Davidson College Download pdf Open Source Physics: A User's Guide with Examples

  • Mask-drawing in AutoCad Tutorial
  • How to start AutoCad Click on the AutoCad icon. It will open a blank drawing file and a dialog box called ‘AutoCad Today’. Close the AutoCad Today’ and start working in the drawing file. In AutoCad, you do not have to specify the units of length. It works in relative units. Hence, you can draw with dimensions in any units (m, cm, mm, micron, inch etc.). Just make sure that all your dimensions have been consistently converted in that unit. For drawing masks in AutoCad you only need to learn 2D sketching. You need not learn 3D modeling. On the left you will find a lot of drawing tools. All these tools can also be accessed from the command prompt. It is essential to use a combination of commands and tool-buttons to make your drawings fast. When you click on a button, the command associated with this button is shown in the command prompt. That’s how you can learn the commands. Command prompt is very important. Always keep an eye on the command prompt. Most useful drawing tools I have found the following tools to be the most useful. All these tools are located on the left hand side. Construction line: These lines are used as reference line. Polyline: Most of the linear features on your mask will be made with polyline. You can control the width of these lines and thus create features of different width. Width can be specified through the command prompt. Otherwise, the property box of any object can be opened by
