  • SAP Teach Your Self: Transfer of PRICAT-Messages (SD-MD-PL) Tutorial
  • Transfer of PRICAT-Messages (SD-MD-PL) Use This business process allows you to export a logical message type PRICAT from R/3 to an external system, via ALE and IDocs, or to import it from an external system. (R/3 supports both EANCOM standard message type PRICAT and ANSI X12 transaction set 832.) This is useful, for example, if you want to: · Send a complete or partial list of your product offering (including prices) to your customers · Send your data to a central database in PRICAT message format so that it is available so that authorized customers and suppliers can access it. · Receive automatic notification of new or updated product and pricing information from your suppliers or from a central database. Price catalog information for export includes the description, information about prices and pricing conditions (including taxes), and logistics information for each product. It can contain either general product information valid for all customers, or customer-specific information, such as special conditions. You can also specify a timeframe for which the price catalog is valid. Download PDF for SAP Teach Your Self: Transfer of PRICAT-Messages (SD-MD-PL) Tutorial

  • A Genetic Programming Tutorial
  • The goal of getting computers to automatically solve problems is central to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the broad area encompassed by what Turing called “machine intelligence” (Turing 1948, 1950). In his 1983 talk entitled “AI: Where It Has Been and Where It Is Going, machine learning pioneer Arthur Samuel stated the main goal of the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence: “[T]he aim [is] … to get machines to exhibit behavior, which if done by humans, would be assumed to involve the use of intelligence.” Genetic programming is a systematic method for getting computers to automatically solve a problem starting from a high-level statement of what needs to be done. Genetic programming is a domain-independent method that genetically breeds a population of computer programs to solve a problem. Specifically, genetic programming iteratively transforms a population of computer programs into a new generation of programs by applying analogs of naturally occurring genetic operations. The genetic operations include crossover (sexual recombination), mutation, reproduction, gene duplication, and gene deletion. Analogs of developmental processes are sometimes used to transform an embryo into a fully developed structure. Genetic programming is an extension of the genetic algorithm (Holland 1975) in which the structures in the population are not fixed-length character strings that encode candidate solutions to a problem, but programs that, when executed, are the candidate solutions to the problem. Programs are expressed in genetic programming as syntax trees rather than as lines of code. For example, the simple expression max(x*x,x+3*y)is represented as shown in Figure 2. The
  • AutoCAD 2008 Productivity Study Paper Guide
  • White paper to guide AutoCAD customers in making an upgrade decision for Autodesk. AutoCAD 2008 makes architects 26% more productive A little training brings even more rewards. Cambridge UK, How much will you benefit from upgrading to AutoCAD 2008? Cambashi, an independent consulting firm, compared architects using AutoCAD 2008 against those using AutoCAD 2005 for a typical design documentation exercise. The findings were clear: AutoCAD 2008 is significantly more productive. On average, architects using 2008 completed the exercise 26% faster than those using 2005. Training makes all the difference-AutoCAD 2008 users who invested time in a short period of training were substantialy faster. So how much more productive can you expect to be? • The Maya interface Now that Maya is running, you first need to understand what you are seeing. There are a lot of items displayed in the Maya user interface. The best way to begin is to learn the fundamental tools and then learn additional tools as you need them. Begin by learning some of the main tools. The Maya workspace The Maya workspace is where you conduct most of your work within Maya. The workspace is the central window where your objects and most editor panels appear. When you start Maya for the first time, the workspace displays by default in a perspective window, or panel. There are the other components of the default perspective view panel: - The panel is labeled persp at the bottom to indicate that you are viewing the Maya scene from a perspective camera view. - The panel has its own menu bar at the top left corner of the panel. These menus allow you to access tools and functions related to that specific panel. - The grid is displayed with two heavy lines intersecting at the center of the Maya scene. This central location is called the origin. The origin is the center of Maya's 3D world, and with all object's directional values measured from this location. Download pdf Maya 7 Tutorial
  • Using mental mill shaders in Maya
  • This document describes how to export shading networks and shaders from mental mill so that they can be used right away in the viewport rendering in Maya. A basic knowledge of how to work with mental mill or Maya is assumed. If you are not familiar with these tools, please take a look into the respective help documents of mental mill and Maya if you want to learn more about the applications themselves. Preparing the shader in mental mill 1. Create your shading effect inside mental mill by building a shading net- work that creates the look that you want to achieve. Once satisfied with the result, go to 2. “Scene > Scene Settings…” and make sure that the following items are set correctly: 4. created by adding a light shader node to the “graph view” . This does not yet create a light source. An instance of the light source needs to be cre- ated: Go to 5. “Scene > Scene Settings…” , click “Add light” and select the light shader of your choice. You can create multiple light instances from one shader which will share the input data like color, falloff, etc… . (Note that parameter sharing happens only inside mental mill. Outside the application each light instance will have its own dedicated set of parameters) If your shading network contains nodes that do reflections of any kind 6. (e.g. “Component_reflection”) you have to create an instance from an environment shader on the workspace. You must enable this environment shader by selecting it under “Scene
  • How to create a dynamic maelstrom in Maya 8.X
  • A tutorial on how to make an animated giant whirlpool with foam and spray. Inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. 1. Start by creating a NURBS or a polygon plane. NURBS is propably best, but I used polygons on this one. Make it a high resolution, like 80x80. 2. Go into Polygons>Mesh>Sculpt Geometry Tool. Or if using NURBS go into Surfaces>Edit NURBS>Sculpt Geometry. 3. Model a valley in the middle of your plane. 4. Select your plane and go to Animation>Deform>Create Nonlinear>Twist. Resize the deformer, so that it fits just like on the image to the right. 5. Start playing with the Start Angle under the derformer’s attributes. After finding a suitable value, then start sizing the plane. As we scale it through the y-axis, the deformed plane will now twist like a whirlpool. 6. Go to frame 1 and extend the duration of your timeline. I went with 400 frames. At frame 1 keyframe the scale of the y-axis. Size to the point, where you want the shape to begin. Then go to frame 400 and scale the y-axis out, so that the malstroem will be at its final state. Key- frame and watch the animation. Simple, but if done properly it looks cool. • From DOS/Windows to Linux HOWTO Tutorial
  • Let’s start politically correct. Throughout this document I say “Linux”, but I mean “GNU/Linux”. Please go to http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux?and?gnu.html to see why. You want to switch from the DOS/Windows world to Linux? Good idea: Linux is technically superior to DOS, Windows 9x and even Windows NT. But beware: it might not be useful for you. These are the main differences between DOS/Windows and Linux: • Windows runs Microsoft Office and lots of games; is perceived to be easy to install and configure; is notoriously unstable; performs poorly; crashes are frequent. • Linux runs StarOffice, scores of technical software and fewer games; can be tricky to install and configure; is rock solid; performs impeccably; crashes are extremely rare. It’s up to you to decide what you need. Furthermore, Linux gives you power, but it takes some time to learn how to harness it. Thus, if mostly need commercial sw, or if you don’t feel like learning new commands and concepts, you had better look elsewhere. Be aware that many newcomers give up because of initial difficulties. • Parallel Prefix Network Generation: an Application of Functional Programming
  • Parallel prefix networks are used in priority encoders, and to compute carries in fast adders. A typical microprocessor contains many such networks, and often they are hot- spots. Although parallel prefix (or scan) has been much studied, surprisingly many questions remain unanswered. As geometries shrink, it is not at all clear how to make low power prefix networks with the desired timing properties. Here, I develop a method of writing very highly parameterised parallel prefix network generators in which we specify the combinators used to build the networks and then search for a topology that matches the given delay constraints. This first case study indicates that, in this functional setting, combinators and search fit well together. The resulting prefix networks are both small and shallow, and likely to be useful in low power applications. Parallel prefix is one of the fundamental algorithms of computer science, and it has been much studied. Yet many theoretical and practical questions remain open. On the theoretical side, we have not had good enough methods to design small shallow prefix networks with limited fanout. We have not either had good enough methods of producing networks that are adapted to the delay profile of their inputs. These are the problems that I solve towards the end of this paper. Both of these problems are interesting in practice too. Small networks promise low power, and here I show first results indicating that we can achieve low power in practice, although much remains to be done. The approach that I
