  • Creating a Footprint Map Using AutoCAD 2000 from an Aerial Photograph
  • AutoCAD is the world's most popular computer-aided drafting software product for the personal computer available in both DOS and windows by Autodesk, Inc. Anything that can be drawn on a drawing board can be drawn by AutoCAD. AutoCAD is an interactive drawing system designed to permit a user to construct or edit a drawing on a graphics display screen. It is similar to other word-processing programs except that in this case the thing being processed is a drawing. Each drawing is stored on a disk file, and AutoCAD is only able to edit one drawing at a time. An AutoCAD drawing is made up of entities. All the objects in the drawing space are considered entities such as lines, arcs, circles, text, and so on or blocks (which are groups of entities). The entities are defined geometrically in terms of the normal Cartesian coordinate system (right-handed system with positive X-axis to the right, positive Y-axis up the screen and positive Z-axis coming out of the screen towards the user). For example, lines are defined by their end- point coordinates (x, y and z), while circles are defined by their center coordinates and radius. Each entity also has certain attributes associated with it, such as line style, text font or color. AutoCAD organizes information in different layers like other programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. This means that any drawing entity can be assigned to any layer of the drawing. This allows separation of portions of the drawing. For example, all parcels could be assigned

  • Hardware Installation A. First, connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of the DI-724GU and then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall outlet or power strip. The Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation. B. 1. Power off your Cable or DSL modem; some devices may not have a on/off switch and will require you to unplug the power adapter. Now, the DI-724GU should be powered on and the Cable/DSL modem should be turned off. 2.Cable/DSLmodem(PowerOff)–DI-724GU(PowerOn)Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet jack located on the Cable/DSL modem. After the Ethernet cable is securely connected, power on the Cable/DSL modem by turning on the unit or plugging in the power adapter. 3. Cable/DSL modem (Power On) – DI-724GU (Power On) Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN PORT on the back panel of the DI-724GU. The WAN LED light will illuminate to indicate proper connection. If the WAN LED is not illuminated, please go back to step B1 and repeat the instructions. C. Insert an Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the back panel of the DI-724GU and an available Ethernet port on the network adapter in the computer you will use to configure the DI-724GU. The LED light for LAN Port 1 will illuminate to indicate proper connection. Note: The LAN Ports on the DI-724GU are Auto-MDI/MDIX. Meaning you can use a straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable to the LAN Ports. D. Computers equipped with 802.11g wireless adapters will
  • Why C# and Why .NET In The Undergraduate Information Systems Curriculum
  • Considering the rapid pace of changes in the software field and the limited courses that a student can take in languages, the question is which languages are crucial for students to learn in an undergraduate IS curriculum. This paper investigates the necessity of teaching C# and .NET in the undergraduate IS curriculum. It explores the pros and cons of .Net versus J2EE for applications development and differences between C#, C++ and Java, and which one may be the best language for teaching first programming course in IS curriculum. C# is Microsoft's latest object-oriented programming language developed for .NET platform and .NET is Microsoft’s latest platform technology for creating web services. C# is a C++ based language and was developed to provide portability for distributed applications over network and internet. Application development in .NET platform can be done in multiple languages including C#, C++, and Visual Basic. Programs developed in all of these languages are compiled to Microsoft’s Intermediate Language (IL) and executed within Common Language Runtime (CLR). We explain the core elements of .NET and how web applications are developed and run with this technology. .NET is not a programming language; it's a virtual-machine technology (similar to Java virtual machine technology) with a framework that provides capability to run a variety of web applications. The .NET framework class library provides a set of classes that provide essential functionality for applications build within the .NET environment. Web functionality, XML support, database support, threading and distributed computing support is provided by the .NET framework

  • Design Guidelines for Class Library Developers
  • The .NET Framework's managed environment allows developers to improve their programming model to support a wide range of functionality. The goal of the .NET Framework design guidelines is to encourage consistency and predictability in public APIs while enabling Web and cross- language integration. It is strongly recommended that you follow these design guidelines when developing classes and components that extend the .NET Framework. Inconsistent design adversely affects developer productivity. Development tools and add-ins can turn some of these guidelines into de facto prescriptive rules, and reduce the value of nonconforming components. Nonconforming components will function, but not to their full potential. These guidelines are intended to help class library designers understand the trade-offs between different solutions. There might be situations where good library design requires that you violate these design guidelines. Such cases should be rare, and it is important that you provide a solid justification for your decision. The section provides naming and usage guidelines for types in the .NET Framework as well as guidelines for implementing common design patterns. Relationship to the Common Type System and the Common Language Specification The Common Type System is the model that defines the rules the common language runtime follows when declaring, using, and managing types. The common type system establishes a framework that enables cross-language integration, type safety, and high-performance code execution. It is the raw material from which you can build class libraries. The Common Language Specification (CLS) defines a set of programmatically verifiable rules that governs the interoperation of types authored in different
  • Exporting a Simple Animated Scene from Maya to Virtools Tutorial
  • This tutorial explains how to export a Maya scene including animated objects with simple keyframes. It uses the Virtools plug-in directly loaded in Maya. The Scene in Maya Load the “mountains.ma” scene in the tutorial’s “scenes” file into Maya. To do so, place “mountains.ma” directly in your Maya “/scenes” directory. Then place the 4 textures in “/sourceimages”. Here is what you should see: Activate Display/Polygon Counts to see the number of faces in the scene, i.e., 474 (quads or triangles). Note a certain number of specific characteristics before exporting this scene. - the vertex lighting & the triangulation. In the Custom Polygon Display Options, set Color to Color in Shaded Display and the Color Material Channel to Ambient+Diffuse. Then click Apply. You will see in smooth shaded or smooth shaded & textured mode that the main scene is in vertex lighting. These values will be exported in Virtools.
