Both the 3800i and 3800r are powered by Hand Held Products Adaptus TM Imaging Technology. The performance of Adaptus technology delivers aggressive read rates and depths of field on 1D, stacked linear, and matrix codes.
The 3800i handheld industrial image reader is the first industrial class reader to be powered by Hand Held Products Adaptus imaging technology. Adaptus technology allows you to read bar codes at ranges up to 82 inches on paper labels. In addition, this technology allows your 3800i to pick up and process your bar code image 270 times per second. Although the 3800i uses the same general ergonomic design as the 3800r, the 3800i is built to withstand your toughest industrial applications.
Designed for today’s demanding retail and commercial environments, the 3800r offers a superior reading range, durability, and the ability to read poor quality bar codes. Linear imaging technology is defined by a bright and sharply focused aiming line, high resolution imaging, and fast reading speed. This User’s Guide provides installation and programming instructions for the 3800i/3800r. Product specifications, dimensions, warranty, and customer support information are also included. SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
• Microsoft Windows 2000, XP & Vista:
Insert the CD and use Windows Explorer to navigate to the Pharos Designer folder and double-click on the file “pharos_designer_installer.exe” to launch the software installation process and follow the simple instructions.
• Apple Macintosh OS-X (10.4.x):
Insert the CD and use Finder to navigate to the Pharos Designer folder and double-click on the file “pharos_designer_installer.dmg” to launch the software installation process and follow the simple instructions.
QUICKTIME
Apple’s Quicktime must be installed for Designer to function and so version 7 is supplied on the CD; navigate to the Apple Quicktime folder and double-click either “QuickTimeInstaller.exe” (Windows) or “QuickTimeInstaller.dmg” (Macintosh) to launch the installation process.
SAMPLE MEDIA
Sample media has been kindly provided by Projected Image Digital, Digigobos and Mode Studios which you are free to use without paying a royalty fee. It is normally not necessary to set any jumpers, terminators, or other settings on this drive for proper operation. With a Serial ATA (SATA) interface, each disc drive has its own cable that connects directly to a Serial ATA host adapter or a Serial ATA port on your motherboard. Unlike Parallel ATA, there is no master-slave relationship between drives that use a Serial ATA interface.
You can use a Serial ATA drive in the same system with Parallel ATA drives as long as both interfaces are supported on the motherboard or with a host adapter. This makes it easy to add Serial ATA capability to your existing system without removing existing Parallel ATA disc drives.
What you need
• A Phillips screwdriver and four 6-32 UNC drive mounting screws.
• A SATA interface cable (sold separately). Maximum length is 39 inches (1 meter).
• A SATA-compatible power cable or adapter (sold separately).
• A system with a SATA connector on it, or a SATA host adapter and available PCI slot in which to install the adapter.
Refer to your computer system documentation to see if your system supports SATA on the motherboard and locate the SATA connector. If your system does not have a SATA connector on the motherboard, you must purchase a SATA host adapter that is compatible with your computer and operating system and install it with the appropriate device driver according to the host adapter manufacturer’s installation instructions.
