Activote Quick Start QuideActivote is Promethean’s integrated personal response system that is designed to encourage student participation and enhance learning. This could be as straightforward as determining whether pupils are following a lesson, or it could be the basis for planned discussion. And it's all done by asking students to make a choice and press a button. Capturing student responses when they are questioned can be a powerful tool in influencing the direction of a lesson or the planning of future work. Activote allows the answers of each pupil to be saved for retrieval later - individually or as a class. Results can also be exported to Excel for record keeping and further analysis where appropriate.
Flexibility is key in any learning environment, which is why Activote can be used in several ways. Integrated into Promethean’s software, it can be used ad-hoc, allowing teachers to ask unplanned questions as they occur. However, it also works effortlessly over any application or website. Similarly, teachers can choose between using the supplied pre-prepared content and easily making their own with the aid of the built-in Question Master Wizard.

And remember, there’s no need to follow this tutorial or ref-images exactly, let your creativity flow and make the scissors your own. Lets start by putting the image I found from Google (1A) to viewport’s background by pressing ALT+B in maximized (AL+W) left viewport. Check the ‘Match Bitmap’ and ‘Lock Zoom/Pan’ so that the image styles in place. (You can get the image from this tutorials additional .zip-file. Read the instructions int the last page to get your hands onto it.) Then, make an ellipse spline around the darker edges of the hole. Convert it to Editable Spline.
Use ‘Create Line’ in vertex subobject level to start a new line that follow the other dark edge (1B). Use “i” if you need to center the viewport while drawing the spline. You should get something like the image

Introduced first on California-bound vehicles and, by 1981, on all U.S. vehicles, the Bosch system improved the performance, efficiency, reliability, and quality of engine operations. Solely responsible for a 23 horsepower increase on the 2 liter engines, this system, known as Bosch L-Jetronic, was popular not only on FIATs but on nearly every European car produced in the 1980's.
The L-Jetronic was the first mass-produced, fully electronic fuel injection system. Prior to L-Jetronic, mechanical fuel injection systems had proven that directly injecting atomized fuel into the cylinder resulted in better engine operation. Combining this direct injection theory with electronic sensors, valves, and meters - all controlled by a central computer - resulted in better operation than before.
The basic operation is straightforward. An engine is basically an air pump, drawing mixed fuel and air into the intake manifold, compressing it (followed by a spark-triggered explosion), and expelling it through the exhaust manifold. In a fuel injection system the entire operation is based on the amount of air entering the system. The engine pulls air through an air filter and into an air flow meter. The air flow meter measures the amount of air entering the system. Once measured, the air flows into a large hose that is connected to the intake manifold (a plenum). The intake manifold has a throttle plate that is connected to the driver's foot (the accelerator pedal). The position of this plate determines how muchTeamprise Client SuiteThe introduction of Microsoft Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) and Team Foundation Server (TFS) changed the practice of Application Lifecycle Management throughout the software development industry. Enterprise organizations now have an affordable, full-featured solution that is designed from the ground up for seamless integration into Visual Studio. By adopting Visual Studio Team System in conjunction with Team Foundation Server, software development teams can easily collaborate on projects regardless of whether they are located within the same department, or dispersed across many geographical locations. Architects, developers, and testers have access to issue tracking, source control, project reporting, and build automation, all tightly integrated inside of Visual Studio, the leading .NET development environment.
The Challenge
Unfortunately, organizations who would like to deploy Visual Studio Team System and Team Foundation Server across the enterprise are faced with the obstacle of supporting teams on heterogeneous platforms and architectures. For example, while many companies have a high percentage of .NET developers, they often also have a mix of Java developers. In addition, they typically have development teams working on other operating systems, such as Linux, Solaris, or Mac OS X. Companies in this situation would like to standardize on TFS for their entire organization, making the features and robustness of TFS available to everyone in the enterprise. Failure to achieve this level of integration inevitably leads to increased inefficiency, delay, errors, and lost opportunities.
The Solution
Enter Teamprise. With the goal of delivering the advantages of Team Foundation Server to all development teams in the enterprise, the Teamprise ClientSub Surface Scattering (SSS) in RenderMan for MayaSSS simulates light scattering under the surface of an object. Done right, it can have very convincing effects on many materials such as skin, stone, milk, etc. The downside is that it can be very expensive to render and takes a bit of tweaking to get right. If SSS is too expensive, there are multiple ways to fake the effect.
This tutorial will explain how to set up SSS and what each setting means. The information here is what I have figured out and what works for me. I might be totally wrong about some of this stuff, but it will give you a good starting point.
1. Make a new shader and assign it to the model that you want SSS on. I chose a PhongE for skin. Set up a
2 point lighting scheme with the key on the opposite side of the face from the camera and a strong back light to illuminate behind the ears. This will show off the SSS effect.

Behind most of these initiatives lies a simple yet very promising idea for the corporate world. Without installing “in house” software (that is under the cloud computing format), companies can capitalize on these free on-line services for a series of activities requiring coordination or collaboration. These include organizing meetings, sharing contacts and documents, and creating communities. Furthermore, integration with social networks allows companies to get to know their clients and their preferences better in order to choose the ideal candidates. In this sense, it seems logical to assume that Web 2.0 will undergo a strong new surge due to its commitment to mobility, and specific applications are already coming out on the market.
In general, Spanish companies have been slow to jump onto the bandwagon. There are a few exceptions, though. One of the most noteworthy of these is Actibva, the Web 2.0 platform launched by BBVA that is designed to inform users about the evolution of financial markets and foment relationships among parties interested in savings and economic topics from the viewpoint of markets as well as the personal finances. BBVA’s team of specialized journalists selects news according to completely independent criteria and offers its own views in the Actibva blog. As such, users can vote on news items and introduce their own commentaries.
Beyond this example, there are a few interesting Web 2.0 initiatives gathering force among younger Spanish companies. One ofMicrosoft Vista/Office 2007/Office 2008 Implementation Planning OverviewThe ITS desktop support teams (Blue/Green) and other ITS staff members have started preparations for the introduction of Microsoft Vista and Office 2007/2008 to campus. This document summarizes the implementation plan. This plan description will be revised as needed.
Campus Move to Microsoft Vista OS
The Blue and Green Desktop Support Teams have been testing the Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise Edition OS for several months. The present plan is to begin to introduce the OS on new college-purchased PCs beginning late in the second quarter of 2008, probably with new system replacements starting in May or June. There is no plan to have a “forklift” introduction. Instead, the OS will be introduced as systems are replaced on their normal cycle.
ITS has been purchasing “Vista compatible” systems for several months in anticipation of the upgrade, but has been installing Windows XP Professional Edition on those computers. These computers are ones that have adequate memory, disk space, and performance to support an upgrade to the Vista OS. It is possible that these Vista compatible computers will be upgraded from Windows XP to Vista, largely upon request and depending upon compatibility issues that could be uncovered. Current systems that are not presently equipped for Vista but that could be upgraded to a Vista compatible level will be considered for upgrade if the cost of doing so reasonably improves the utility of the system over its remaining life cycle. Older systems that are not presently equipped to support Vista and cannot be upgraded to a Vista-compatibleBasic Emacs Tutorial Statistics Orientation PDF SheetIntroduction On a very basic level, Emacs is a text editor. However it is much more versatile than other less sophisticated editors in the UNIX environment, such as for example pico. More specifically, Emacs can work together with other applications, such as TEX, L TEX, and S-Plus, to provide a sort of graphical A user interface. We will get an example of this when we begin to use ESS (Emacs Speaks Statistics) and LTEX. A Dot Emacs Files These files make your life a lot easier.
