Understanding the Yahoo! Blueprint Platform
Using Blueprint, third-party developers can provide custom content and services in a variety of ways. Applications can be Yahoo! Go Mobile Widgets, browser-based Mobile Sites, or stand-alone Mobile Apps:
• Mobile Widgets run under Yahoo! Go. Users can subscribe to published Widgets by selecting them from the Widget Gallery and add Widgets to the Yahoo! Go carousel for faster access.

The center for Data-intensive Systems (Daisy) at Aalborg University is currently working on a large project in which they combine the two worlds of Web 2.0 and Location-based services.

The project known as the StreamSpin-project currently employs numerous developers. Furthermore it is planned that students will have the opportunity to develop their own services for the system during the coming semesters in order to mature the system and its service deliveries.

Keynote Systems (Keynote) has been busy preparing for several fall launches covering mobile, voice over IP (VoIP), Web site and user experience test and measurement services. To add fuel to the already fast-paced momentum, the company just announced end of fiscal year 2007 revenues that were the strongest in the company’s history—a 22% jump from its respective 2006 results! The thread across all of Keynote’s announcements is its “loud and clear” support for measuring the responsiveness, reliability and customer experience of Web sites using Web 2.0 technologies from the end user perspective.

Web 2.0 Testing

Websites have changed significantly in the Web 2.0 world. The youtube generation has quite different expectations about websites in general. For starters, websites with plain HTML forms and smartly laid text are passé, and are being replaced by websites full of dynamic content: Google Maps, Gap’s highly interactive website and Nike’s all new Flash website are all examples of the new generation of websites. Not only are the sites getting richer – more rich media, video etc. – they enable users to do a lot more. Companies like Timberland, Ikea, Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, have created websites that offer sophisticated applications that allow users to create-a-custom-product or try-before-you-buy.
