How To: Create a Service Account for an ASP.NET 2.0 ApplicationThis How To shows you how to create and configure a custom least-privileged service account to run an ASP.NET Web application. By default, an ASP.NET application on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0 runs using the built-in Network Service account. In production environments, you usually run your application using a custom service account. By using a custom service account, you can audit and authorize your application separately from others, and your application is protected from any changes made to the privileges or permissions associated with the Network Service account. To use a custom service account, you must configure the account by running the Aspnet_regiis.exe utility with the -ga switch, and then configure your application to run in a custom application pool that uses the custom account's identity.
By default, an ASP.NET application on Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0 runs in the application pool called ASP.NET V2.0. This application pool uses the built-in Network Service account. This account is least privileged, although it does have network credentials which means that you can use it to authenticate against network servers.
The following scenarios may prevent you from using a network service account or a custom domain-level service account:
- Your Web server is not in a domain.
- Your Web server and downstream remote server are in separate domains with no trust relationship.
- Your Web server and downstream remote server are separated by a firewall and you cannot open the ports required for NTLM or Kerberos authentication.

Installing HOBOware Lite
You must have an administrator login to install HOBOware Lite. To install the software from CD:
1. Refer to the README file on the installation CD for detailed information about the hardware and software needed to run HOBOware Lite. If you have additional questions, please check the HOBOware website at http://www.onsetcomp.com/HOBOware, or call Onset Technical Support.
2. Insert the CD in your computer’s CD-ROM drive. Double-click the CD icon in the Finder and double-click the HOBOwareLite.pkg icon to launch the HOBOware Lite installer.
3. Follow the prompts to install HOBOware Lite.
4. When you reach the final screen of the installation program, click Restart.
5. After restarting, open HOBOware Lite by double-clicking the HOBOware Lite icon in your computer’s Applications folder.
Connecting devices
HOBOware Lite supports HOBO U-Series data loggers, which communicate with the computer by connecting to a USB port.
You can connect most devices to the USB port by using an Onset-supplied USB interface cable. Some loggers require an optic USB base station/coupler to connect to the computer. Consult the manual that came with your device for specific information about required base stations/couplers or cables.
Tip: For instructions on using the HOBO Waterproof Shuttle as a base station, refer to the shuttle’s user guide.

Download ManualInstalling Fedora Core 1There are three basic parts to installing FC: downloading and creating CDs, the initial installation process, and final setup. Fedora Core comes as a series of three ISO files, each about 650 MB in size. After downloading and verifying the files, you'll want to put them onto CDs. Most every version of Windows comes with CD-burning software, so I won't belabor that process here. It's not quite as straightforward on a Linux box, though, so I'll provide explicit details for creating CDs with Linux.
Once you've got your three CDs, it's time to install. The first CD is bootable, so, assuming that your machine can boot from a CD, you just stick it in and restart the machine. A wizard starts, first offering to check the CDs for errors, and then guiding you through about 16 screens that allow you to configure your machine and set up preferences. Most of these screens can be navigated simply by clicking "Next", as the wizard will detect and display the appropriate choice for you.
After completing the wizard, the installation starts, and you'll be prompted to insert CD #2 and #3 when necessary. Once all the files have been transferred and the system has been installed, the machine will restart and you'll spend a few more minutes making a few last tweaks and choosing settings. Upon completion, you've got a Linux box ready to go.
