Web Content Adaptation to Improve Server Overload Behavior Tarek F. When the request rate on a web server increases beyond server capacity, the server becomes over- loaded and unrespoive. The TCP listen queue of the servers socket overows exhibiting a drop-tail behavior. As a result, clients experience service outages. Since clients typically issue multiple requests over the duration of a session with the server, and since requests are dropped indiscriminately, all clients connecting to the server at overload are likely to experi- ence connection failures, even though there may be enough capacity on the server to deliver all respoes properly for a subset of clients. In this paper, we propose to resolve the overload problem by adapting
DownloadHow to use PDFlib products with PHPThis document explains various possibilities for successfully deploying PDFlib as a PHP extension. The generic term PDFlib is used to designate one of the following distinct products:
> PDFlib Lite, the open-source subset of PDFlib
> The commercial PDFlib product
> PDFlib+PDI, a commercial superset of PDFlib which also contains the PDF Import Library (PDI)
> PDFlib Personalization Server (PPS), a superset of PDFlib+PDI with advanced block filling features for personalizing PDF documents.
Notes for PDFlib TET (Text Extraction Toolkit), PDFlib PLOP (Linearization, Optimization, Protection), and PDFlib pCOS (PDF Information Retrieval Tool) are included where appli- cable.
The methods for deploying any of these products as a PHP extension are the same in all cases. However, only one product of the PDFlib family can be used at a time. Similarly, multiple versions of these products cannot be deployed at the same time. Different products can coexist within one PHP installation, however. Note that the evaluation versions of commercial PDFlib products will be fully functional, but will display a demo stamp across all generated PDF pages unless a valid license key is applied.
This document applies to the following software versions:
> PDFlib 7.0.4 and PDFlib 6.0.4
> TET 3.0, PLOP 4.0, and pCOS 2.0
> PHP 4.3.x, 4.4.x, 5.0.x, 5.1.x, 5.2.x, and 5.3.x
Where applicable, version-specific information is provided separately.

In this case, a developer community has taken Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, reworked it and released it for free under the GPL as CentOS. But is it a worthwhile alternative to its commercially-available parent? On first inspection, you would struggle to find any real difference between CentOS and RHEL. Both are aimed primarily at (surprise!) the enterprise and they share the same source. Apart from a few tweaks to the line-up, CentOS contains all the free software available with RHEL.

Using MT is becoming an increasingly common experience: today there are over three billion pages translated by machine from one language to another on the Internet every month. This is likely to increase as the number of people with English as their first language as a proportion on internet users continues to drop. But if you have used one of these services, you’ll know that the results are often far from perfect. These services generally convey the meaning of the message, but are rarely fluent and you certainly wouldn’t want to use them to translate an important document from your language into another!
So if there’s so much of it being done, why is the translation quality poor?
The reality is that neither Google nor Babel Fish are good examples of what MT can really achieve. There is nothing wrong with the underlying translation technology, but these implementations are simply doing a sentence by sentence translation without any additional processing.
There are a number of ways in which the quality of an automatic machine translation can be dramatically improved today. These include:
• Use of Dictionaries
• Identification of words and phrases that should not be translated
• Improving the translatability of the source language text
• Not translating already translatedRECALL Automatic Transmission Shift LinkageCall any authorized Acura automobile dealer and make an appointment to have your car repaired. … Acura Automobile Division. Example of Customer Letter.

Search engines are now an integral part of our lifestyle, but this was not always the case. Historically, systems for finding information were driven by data organization and classification performed by humans. Such systems are not entirely obsolete — libraries still keep their books ordered by categories, author names, and so forth. Yahoo! itself started as a manually maintained directory of web sites, organized into categories. Those were the good old days.
Today, the data of the World Wide Web is enormous and rapidly changing; it cannot be confined in the rigid structure of the library. The format of the information is extremely varied, and the individual bits of data — coming from blogs, articles, web services of all kinds, picture galleries, and so on — form an almost infinitely complex virtual organism. In this environment, making information findable necessitates something more than the traditional structures of data organization or classification.
Introducing the ad-hoc query and the modern search engine. This functionality reduces the aforementioned need for organization and classification; and since its inception, it has been become quite pervasive. Google’s popular email service, GMail, features its searching capability that permits a user to find emails that contain a particular set of keywords. Microsoft Windows Vista now integrates an instant search feature as part of the operating system, helping
