  • Source Code Exploration with Google
  • The paper presents a new approach to source code exploration, which is the result of integrating the Google Desktop Search (GDS) engine into the Eclipse development environment. The resulting search engine, named Google Eclipse Search (GES), provides improved searching in Eclipse software projects. The paper advocates for a component-based approach that allows us to develop strong tools, which support various maintenance tasks, by leveraging the strengths of existing frameworks and components. The development effort for such tools is reduced, while customization and flexibility, to fully support user needs, is maintained. GES allows developers to search software projects in a manner similar to searching the internet or their own desktops. The proposed approach takes advantages of the power of GDS for quick and accurate searching and of Eclipse’s extensibility. The paper discusses usage scenarios, advantages, limitations, and possible extensions of the proposed tandem. During software evolution most activities require the users to understand large and often new parts of a software system. Most of the time, the developers rely on the source code and the available documentation alone to achieve this understanding. In this context, source code searching and browsing are two of the most common activities undertaken by developers [4]. These activities directly support such tasks as concept location in source code, impact analysis, change propagation, debugging, and comprehension of software in general. Given their widespread use, we need to support them with fast and accurate tools and techniques. Traditionally, most developers were (and still are) using grep (global regular expression print) for

The only problem is its price since currently a single card 21 June 2007 XFX Geforce 8800 Ultra Extreme Card www.xbitlabs.com By: Ionut Ciocirlie, Hardware Editor XFX Has the Fastest Video Card in the World Presenting the XFX GeForce 8800 Ultra Extreme Every time a new type of video card comes out, it produces a worldwide quake. Although this statement may seem a little too much at fit, if you look at the launch of the 7 and 8 Geforce series you will notice that performance has almost doubled from one generation to another. And that comes in handy especially if you want to play the latest games since these ones can be very hardware inteive. After the arrival of the 8800 GTX series, everyone waited for Nvidia to roll out a card capable of surpassing Ati/AMDs R600 on every level. The 8800 Ultra was supposed to have GDDR4 chips and a very fast GPU. However when it did come out, the Ultra only came as a tweaked veion of the GTX clocked some 10-15% higher Download PDf
  • CREATING A HIGH-KEY LOOK TO YOUR PHOTO – PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL
  • In this tutorial, you will learn how to alter a typical color portrait so that it looks like a professional high- key studio shot. Here are the before and after photos: Open up the photo you want to use. Then desaturate your photo by clicking on Image / Adjustment / Desaturate. Now we will kick it up a notch by altering the curves. To do this, click on Image / Adjustment / Curves. You will need to adjust the input and output numbers of your curve. Hover your mouse over the diagonal line and then click once. The input and output number boxes will now be visible. Change the Input number to 171 and the Output number to 240. Then click OK In order to blur out the background a bit, we will add a Gaussian blur. First, make a duplicate of your photo by right-clicking on it in the Layers Palette You will now have two layers. The bottom layer is your original and the top layer is your duplicate. Now add a guassian blur to this duplicate (top) layer by clicking on Filter / Blur / Gaussian Blur. Change the radius to 30.0. In order to have just the background blurred and your subject’s features (eyes, nose, mouth) nice and sharp, we will add a layer mask to the blurred layer and erase some of this layer to expose the sharp image beneath. • Experiences Teaching Data Structures With Java
  • Among Computer Science educators, hardly any topic inspires more heated debate than the choice of programming language in the introductory sequence. In the late 80s, the uniformly accepted choice was Pascal, but since then, a host of alternatives have come into use. C++ seems to have emerged as the winner, while Pascal, C, Ada, Scheme, and Modula-3 split most of the remaining market. There appear to be two overriding reasons for C++’s emergence. First, principles such as encapsulation and information hiding, that are important to teach in the CS I/II curriculum, are easily demonstrated in C++. Much of the ugliness associated with C is easily avoided in C++ by the use of a tiny set of classes: About all that is needed is a String and Vector class. Second, C++ has become an industry standard (even though C++ is itself not yet standardized). Many universities are finding that they must teach C++ at some point, and given limitations on the number of courses that can be offered, they are finding it most convenient to teach it early. C++, however, has its share of problems; some of these problems will be discussed later. Java is the new alternative to C++. It can be presented as a simpler C++ that fixes many of C++’s bad features and provides a primitive, but useful, GUI toolkit. One argument for teaching Java early is that it is better to use an alreadydefined language rather than attempt to subset a complex language. While C++ is arguably the
