  • IBM ViaVoice SDK SMAPI Developer's Guide
  • The IBM ViaVoice SDK for Windows, Linux and Macintosh(R) provides programmers with the necessary tools to develop applications that incorporate speech. It includes a robust set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allows an application to access speech resources. It contains several utilities that enable developers to define and manage what the user can say within an application. There are also several sample programs that can help programmers as they develop their applications for speech. Finally, there are distributable runtime elements that are included with an application that uses IBM ViaVoice. IBM SMAPI supports only speech recognition functions. The SMAPI interface set is the native interface for the ViaVoice engine. This section contains a description of the overall architecture of ViaVoice. The heart of a speech recognition system is known as the speech recognition engine. The speech recognition engine recognizes speech input and translates it into text that an application understands. The application decides what to do with the recognized text. It can transcribe it literally for dictation, or it can act on it for commands. Applications can access the speech recognition engine through a speech recognition API. For ViaVoice, this API is known as the Speech Manager API, or SMAPI, for short. SMAPI is a conventional API. This means that the API is defined as part of the resource; in this case, SMAPI is defined as part of the speech engine. With an API, speech becomes a resource to all applications, just like any system resource (mouse, video, and so on). Any

  • PICmicro MCU C - An introduction to programming The Microchip PIC in CCS C
  • The C language was development at Bell Labs in the early 1970’s by Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan. One of the first platforms for implementation was the PDP-11 running under a UNIX environment. Since its introduction, it has evolved and been standardized throughout the computing industry as an established development language. The PC has become a cost effective development platform using C++ or other favored versions of the ANSI standard. C is a portable language intended to have minimal modification when transferring programs from one computer to another. This is fine when working with PC’s and mainframes, but Microcontrollers and Microprocessors are different breed. The main program flow will basically remain unchanged, while the various setup and port/peripheral control will be micro specific. An example of this is the port direction registers on a PICmicro®MCU are set 1=Input 0=Output, whereas the H8 is 0=Input and 1=Output. The use of C in Microcontroller applications has been brought about by manufacturers providing larger program and RAM memory areas in addition to faster operating speeds. An example quoted to me – as a non believer – was: to create a stopclock function would take 2/3 days in C or 2 weeks in assembler. ‘Ah’ I hear you say as you rush to buy a C compiler – why do we bother to write in assembler? It comes down to code efficiency – a program written in assembler is typically 80% the size of a C version. Fine on the larger program memory sized devices but not
  • SilkPerformer DotNet Framework 2006 Release 2 Developer Guide
  • This introduction serves as a high-level overview of the different test approaches and tools, including Java Explorer, Java Framework, .NET Explorer, and .NET Framework that are offered by SilkPerformer SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Edition SilkPerformer .NET Explorer, which was developed using .NET, allows you to test Web Services, .NET Remoting objects, and other GUI-less .NET objects. .NET Explorer allows you to define and execute complete test scenarios with different test cases without requiring manual programming—everything is done visually via point and click operations. Test scripts are visual and easy to understand—even for staff members who aren't familiar with .NET programming languages. Test scenarios created with SilkPerformer .NET Explorer can be exported to SilkPerformer Workbench for immediate reuse in concurrency and load testing; and to Microsoft Visual Studio .NET for further customization. To launch SilkPerformer .NET Explorer: If you have SilkPerformer SOA Edition, go to: Start/Programs/Borland/SilkPerformer SOA Edition 2006 R2/SilkPerformer .NET Explorer. If you have SilkPerformer Enterprise Edition, go to: Start/Programs/Borland/SilkPerformer 2006 R2/Development Tools/SilkPerformer .NET Explorer. Alternately you can launch SilkPerformer Workbench: If you have SilkPerformer SOA Edition, go to: Start/Programs/Borland/SilkPerformer SOA Edition 2006 R2/SilkPerformer SOA Workbench.
