  • Web 2.0 tools and some things they could be used for: Community building
  • Twitter http://twitter.com/ – won’t suit everyone but is very good for little snippets, observations and off the cuff chats that the web has not really replicated until now. Could be used to build communities and for lightweight communication between projects. A useful feature is the use of hash (#) tags, placing the # at the beginning of an event or project tag to aggregate comments. Blogs – persuading projects to blog regularly is great for the programme manager, for a community of projects and for anyone interested in the project. A Project Manager’s reflection on the issue of keeping a blog: So is it worth it? Speaking personally and (for once) completely frankly, I’ve been quite enjoying writing, for several reasons. First, it has allowed me to do a bit of self-indulgent vanity publishing, something for which I criticise other bloggers but, hey, I’m a hypocrite! Second, the requirement to be reflective has made me think about various aspects of the project, which is no bad thing. Third, as it has turned out, I haven’t had to trouble my conscience by using buckets of whitewash to tell a positive story; the project really has been going pretty well. Ning https://www.ning.com/ – easily build your own social network, a good place for people to get to know each other online communities can be closed or open and communication can be public or private. Ning is also a useful tool to run before a workshop for participants to start thinking, and during the workshop for getting
  • Guide to Writing Policy and Procedure Documents
  • Preparing a policy or procedure document for UC Santa Cruz’ InfoSlug on-line policy and procedure system is not as mysterious or difficult as you might think. This guide is designed to explain the campus’ policy and procedure framework, to help policy and procedure owners organize their written documentation, and to act as a resource as they navigate the approval process. You will find the information in this “how to” guide helpful if you are responsible for formulating or documenting new or existing policies and procedures. Over the past several years the campus has been actively examining its decision-making processes with an objective of locating decision-making authority at the lowest appropriate levels. Improvements in the campus’ process for documenting policies, procedures, and delegations of authority will enable this effort by addressing a number of issues: 1. Ease of Access. Currently there are too many manuals and loose memos—an information flood. Users don’t know what is important. Policy and procedure manuals that do exist are not always up-to-date and users cannot always find the documents they need to make informed decisions. An up-to-date, on-line system will permit those who use or are directly affected by policies and procedures to have the access they need. 2. Cost Effectiveness. Currently, individual offices must dedicate resources to maintaining files of relevant campuswide policies and procedures. Alternatively, the offices responsible for policy must respond to requests for policy documents as they are needed by individual users—using scarce human resources within those offices which might better be assigned to other

Mini-games To unlock the mini-games, successfully complete the game under any difficulty setting. Defeating Diggs Diggs is the ex-boxer you will have to face in the later part of the game. When he reaches three quarters of his health and gas which will hurt, you will be turned on. You can knock off his gas mask and put it on. Keep pressing Triangle to dive and he cannot touch you. His power will slowly go down, and he will soon be defeated. Defeating Hennessey You have to fight Hennessey three times before you can win. The first time, he will have an electric riot shield, making it impossible to attack him head-on. In order to defeat him, you have to first get rid of the shield. To do this, lure Hennessey into the fountain in the middle of the battle area. He will electrocute the water and shock himself. Make sure that you are not too near the fountain or you will get shocked as well. Another way is to repeatedly circle the fountain, keeping good distance between Hennessey and yourself. While circling, there should be
  • The 12-in. PowerBook Thin and (Feature) Rich Review
  • Just 4.6 pounds light enough to carry most anywhere, yet hefty enough to convey a feeling of solid construction. I believe it was Walt Mossberg at The Wall Street Journal who best summed up the 12-in. PowerBook. It s like one of those all-metal Leica cameras that just reeks of quality. I have to admit having taken a roller-coaster ride of sorts in the past couple of years since Ap p l e i n t roduced its aluminum PowerBooks. I fell fir s t for the 17-in. model (such widescreen real estate), then swooned for the first-generation 12-in. model (a hot little number in more ways than one, espe-cially when you sat it in your lap), then decided that for most users the midrange 15-in. model is the perfect blend of portability and power. Along the way, I ve bought, borrowed or used just about eve ry combo of PowerBook features that Apple has built, and while I seem to have fin a l l y settled on the 17-in. model for my own use (I have one of the newer 1.67-GHz G4 PowerBooks at home), the entry - s i ze model is no slouch. T he old adage that you can never be too thin or too rich seems like a tailor-made description of what road warriors want in their laptops: thin, lightweight machines that are feature-rich and, of course, inexpensive.
