TCP Accelerator for BGAN User Guide for Windows VistaThe client version of TCP Accelerator is an application that can be installed on a BGAN user’s computer to significantly enhance performance when sending TCP traffic over BGAN. The client version of TCP Accelerator is available for download free of charge. This chapter gives a brief overview of TCP Accelerator, and how it operates on the BGAN terminal and connected devices.
The TCP Accelerator suite
The following components are required to accelerate TCP traffic in both directions.
• TCP Accelerator Client: this is a client based software application and is installed on the user’s PC to enhance performance in the send/upload direction.
• TCP Accelerator Network: a server based application for non-VPN users. This sits within the network and together with TCP Accelerator Client enhances performance in the receive/download direction. (To be released.)
• TCP Accelerator VPN Enterprise: a server based application for VPN users. This sits within the Enterprise site and together with TCP Accelerator Client enhances performance in the receive/download direction. (To be released.) At the time of publication, only TCP Accelerator Client is available, and so only performance in the send direction can be improved by the software. However, the performance can be further enhanced by modifying the server configuration. Please see section 5.0 “Optimising performance of end host servers though adjustment of TCP parameters.

Today, forward-looking companies have begun to develop talent that is aligned with their business by tapping into online communities—known collectively as Web 2.0 technologies—such as blogs, wikis, and social networks. This paper discusses the morphing of traditional talent management into a more sophisticated, collaborative method of cultivating employee skills using Web 2.0 technologies.
Transforming traditional Talent Management
Talent management—the acquisition and development of employee talent—has become somewhat of a buzzword due to factors such as globalization and outsourcing to foreign markets. One key aspect of talent management is performance management: how companies develop and rate individual employee performance. Yet talent management equates to far more than performance management. It is an overarching umbrella that encompasses the means by which companies attract, develop, promote, and retain their employees. The components of talent managementSensor Web 2.0: Connecting Earth's Sensors via the InternetSensors are everywhere, which includes space, air and ground. Earth phenomena such as disasters also occur everywhere; such as wildfires, floods and volcanoes. There is a need to rapidly deploy existing sensors to aid emergency workers and investigators. The vision for our effort is to provide users the capability to create “mash ups” (a web application that combines data from more than one source into an integrated experience), similar to that used by Google Earth users to create a composite map with overlays of sensor information and from other data sources such as weather, traffic, urban construction etc. We make use of Web 2.0 technology and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) web service standards to enable access to Earth’s sensors is an emerging mega-trend which will lower the cost of producing customized science by an order of magnitude. This paper will outline the key aspects of our experiments to date and implications for the future and in particular the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) international effort.
Our team has been developing various ongoing prototypes with increasing complexity to demonstrate n an approach to interconnect sensors around the world and to enable easy access to the data from the sensors. Furthermore, we enable easy methods to combine various sensor data along with applying processing algorithms to provide users with customized data products.
