  • Getting Start OJB
  • This document will guide you through the very first steps of setting up a project with OJB. To make this easier, OJB comes with a blank project template called ojb-blank which you're encouraged to use. You can download it here. For the purpose of this guide, we'll be showing you how to setup the project for a simple application that handles products and uses MySQL. This is continued later on in the next tutorial parts. First off, OJB uses Ant to build, so please install it prior to using OJB. In addition, please make sure that the environment variables ANT_HOME and JAVA_HOME are correctly set to the top-level folders of your Ant distribution and your JDK installation, respectively. Next download the latest ojb-blank and OJB binary distributions. You can also start with the source distribution rather than the binary as the unit tests provide excellent sample code and you can build the ojb-blank project on your own with it. The ojb-blank project contains all libraries necessary to get running. However, there may be additional libraries required when you venture deeper into OJB's APIs. See here for a list of additional libraries. Most notably, you'll probably want to add the jdbc driver for you database unless you plan to use the embedded Hsqldb database for which the ojb-blank project is pre-configured (including all necessary jars). • In-Circuit Programming the ACEx Family of Microcontrollers ACE1001/8001, ACE1101, ACE1202, ACE1502 Tutorial
  • Introduction the ACEx (Arithmetic Controller Engine) family of programmable integrated circuits is designed for applications requiring high performance, low power, and small size. The ACEx family supports in-circuit programming of the code EEPROM array, the data EEPROM array, and initialization registers 1 and 2. In-circuit programming of an ACEx device is accomplished through a 4-pin interface. Data is shifted serially in and out of the device using a 32-bit command/response word. This 32-bit command and response word contains all the necessary information to program data to the EEPROM arrays or the initialization register. This application note provides a detailed description of the programming interface, the 32-bit command/response word, and the programming procedures. In addition, this application note also provides all timing specifications for the programming signals. • Defeating the Stack Based Buffer Overflow Prevention Mechanism of Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
  • This paper presents several methods of bypassing the protection mechanism built into Microsoft’s Windows 2003 Server that attempts to prevent the exploitation of stack based buffer overflows. Recommendations about how to thwart these attacks are made where appropriate. Introduction Microsoft is committed to security. I’ve been playing with Microsoft products, as far as security is concerned, since 1997 and in the past year and a half or two I’ve seen a marked difference with some very positive moves made. In a way they had to. With the public relations crisis caused by worms such as Code Red Microsoft needed to do something to stem the flow of customers moving away from the Windows OS to other platforms. Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing push was born out of this and, in my opinion, I think we as consumers are beginning to see the results; or ironically not see them - as the holes are just not appearing as they would if the security push wasn’t there. We have, of course, seen at least one major security hole appear in Windows 2003 Server, this being the DCOM IRemoteActivation buffer overflow discovered by the Polish security research group, the Last Stages of Delirium [http://www.lsd-pl.net]. We will see more; but I am confident that the number of security vulnerabilities that will be discovered in Windows 2003 Server will be a fraction of those found in Windows 2000. Acknowledging that there have been holes found and that, yes, more will come to light in

  • Web 2.0 Ideas for Educators A Guide to RSS and More
  • RSS is an acronym that stands for Rich Site Summary, though it’s often alternatively defined as Really Simple Syndication. The simplest definition of RSS is an eXtensible Markup Language(XML) format that uses the Resource Description Framework (RDF) for representing information about resources on the World Wide Web. Similarly, Atom is another format based on XML technology. You might see buttons like these: There are a few types of feeds commonly found on web sites RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0 and Atom. There is quite a bit of debate about which type of xml format is better, but for the purpose of simplicity I will often be referring to feeds as RSS. RSS and Atom feeds are the structures that organize content which is being updated on a regular basis in order for others to retrieve it. This content could be articles, blog posts, photos, PDF documents, PowerPoint Presentations, audio files, video files, or other applications. If the content is the flesh of an orange then a feed would be its skin. The skin keeps the flesh in place so that it is easier to transport. In 2003, RSS was more commonly associated with weblogs, known as blogs. Blogs and RSS feeds almost seemed to be an isolated cause and effect. Where there was a blog, you would find an RSS feed. As this visualization shows, RSS feeds can more recently be seen being used for many different purposes. Bloggers created a different type of media, by adding audio and video files as the primary content
  • Writing CGI scripts in Tcl
  • CGI scripts enable dynamic generation of HTML pages. This paper describes how to write CGI scripts using Tcl. Many people use Tcl for this purpose already but in an ad hoc way and without realizing many of the more non-obvious benefits. This paper reviews these benefits and provides a framework and examples. Canonical solutions to HTML quoting problems are presented. This paper also discusses using Tcl for the generation of different formats from the same document. As an example, FAQ generation in both text and HTML are described. CGI scripts have many advantages over statically written HTML. For example, CGI scripts can automatically adapt to changes in the environment, such as the date in the previous example. CGI scripts can run programs, include and process data, and just about anything that can be done in traditional programs. CGI scripts are particularly worthwhile in handling Web forms. Web forms allow users to enter data into a page and then send the results to a Web server for processing. The Web form itself does not have to be generated by a CGI script. However, data entered by a user may require a customized response. Therefore, a dynamically generated response via a CGI script is appropriate. Since the response may produce another form, it is common to generate forms dynamically as well as their responses. Download pdf Writing CGI scripts in Tcl
  • Dell D-Family Battery Charger User’s Guide Manual
  • Handling the cord on this product, or cords associated with accessories sold with this product, will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash your hands after handling the cord. Safety: When Using Your Battery Charger Observe the following safe-handling guidelines to prevent damage to your battery charger: • When setting up the battery charger, place it on a level surface. • Protect your battery charger from environmental hazards such as dirt, dust, food, liquids, temperature extremes, and overexposure to sunlight. • When you disconnect a cable, pull on its connector or on its strain-relief loop, not on the cable itself. As you pull out the connector, keep it evenly aligned to avoid bending any connector pins. Also, before you connect a cable make sure both connectors are correctly oriented and aligned. Safety: Protecting Against Electrostatic Discharge Static electricity can harm electronic components inside your battery charger. To prevent static damage, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your battery charger’s electronic components such as connectors. You can do so by touching any unpainted metal surface. Battery Disposal Your battery charger is for Dell D-Family lithium-ion batteries for use with a Dell portable computer. Do not dispose of lithium-ion batteries along with household waste. Contact your local waste disposal agency for the address of the nearest battery deposit site.
