  • Andy Melton's XAMPP Server Installation Tutorial
  • What is XAMPP? I decided that the quickest way to get you up and running with your own web server would be to use Apache Friend's XAMPP. XAMPP is an application that combines Apache (the web server), MySQL (database), PHP (scripting language) and phpMyAdmin (database administration) all into one. Normally, to set up a web server you'd have to install each of those individually. With XAMPP, you install one application and you have a fully functional server. Now, you're probably thinking, “Well, if it's that easy then why is this blog entry HUGE!?” Well. The reason this is a large entry is I am going to walk you through all the steps of setting up XAMPP AND make sure that you set it up so that it is secure! The default XAMPP installation is meant for developers on a local network, not for a real world installation, however, there are ways of making the installation secure and ready for real world use. Also, there are a few other things we'll need to do other than installing XAMPP to get things going. Installing on Fedora Core 5 There are many distributions of Linux out there, my distribution of choice is Fedora Core. I prefer it because I've always had the most luck with it and have friends who use it. The steps contained within this article could be easily applied to Ubuntu or another distribution. You may also be asking me why I am going to install this using an outdated version of Fedora. The main reason

  • Protecting Your Xedos Vehicle
  • Fuel Requirements Engine Exhaust Gas Precautions (Carbon Monoxide) Operating Precautions for Catalytic Converters Use only unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 95 (Research Octane Number) conforming to DIN 51 607. You may use unleaded petrol with an octane rating of at least 90 (Research Octane Number) at slightly reduced performance. WARNING! Never use leaded petrol in your Xedos Vehicle if it has a catalytic converter. The lead will accumulate on the oxygen sensor and the catalyst within the converter. This will result in a malfunction of the emission control system, causing poor performance. If you believe the engine is not functioning properly, consult an Authorised Xedos Dealer as soon as possible. Engine exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide. Though colourless and odourless, it is dangerous, even lethal, if inhaled. • Carbon monoxide can be present with other exhaust fumes. Therefore, if you smell exhaust fumes of any kind inside your vehicle, have it inspected and repaired immediately by an Authorised Xedos dealer. Do not drive with exhaust fumes present, but if you must, do so only with all windows fully open. • Do not operate the engine in confined or closed areas (such as garages) any more than is necessary to move the vehicle to and from the area. • When the vehicle is stopped in an unconfined area for more than a short time with the engine running, adjust the heating or cooling system to draw outside air into the vehicle. • Never sit in a parked or stopped vehicle for any length of time with
  • Integration of SAP central user administration with Microsoft Active Directory
  • As already mentioned in the short summary above the scenario used for this collaboration brief deals with two key components: Microsoft Active Directory and SAP Central User Administration. Active Directory, being the integrated, distributed directory service included with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, provides a central user repository used to centrally maintain user data, thus avoiding the redundant, error-prone maintenance of user information in several systems. Most organizations already use Active Directory to organize and manage information about all kinds of their different resources like users, computers, applications and so on. While the user management engine (UME) used by SAP Enterprise Portal can use a central Active Directory as its user persistence store ABAP systems use their own database as user store. SAP’s central user administration (CUA) can be used to maintain SAP user master records in one central system and distribute this information in a consistent way to connected child systems. This provides a single point of administration of all SAP user data in the entire SAP system landscape in one central system. This document describes the benefits of a synchronization of user data between an LDAP directory (e.g. Microsoft’s Active Directory) and SAP systems. In the outlined scenario MS Active Directory will become the leading system for storing common user data. As a result users newly created in the directory will be synchronized and created in the SAP CUA. For user data that has been updated in the directory this new information is also synchronized into

  • You’re on a plane and desperately need to pass a file to (or play Quake against) your coworker. You both have Ethernet jacks, but there’s no net- work available to you. You both have wireless cards, but transmitter/receivers are a no-no aboard airliners. She has a floppy drive, but your iBook has never heard of these floppy things. You have a USB drive, but the file’s mas- sive. And you’re fresh out of CDs, or you’d simply burn one and pass it across. Oh, and she’s running Windows. If you have an Ethernet cable handy, you can plug one end into the Ethernet jack of each of your machines, open your System Preferences Network pane, and select Built-in Ethernet from the Show pull-down menu. If at least one of the computers is a Macintosh of recent vin- tage (PowerBook G4, iMac 17”, or iBook, at the time of this writing), you don’t even need one of those special crossover Ethernet cables.
