Beginning MYSQL 5.0 with Visual Studio.NET 2005In this tutorial, I will dive into the nitty gritties of MYSQL 5 Application Development using the MYSQL Connector for .NET for Visual Studio.NET 2005 and build a simple Database Application using VC# and MYSQL 5.
This tutorial is a Level 200 session, which means that pre-requisite knowledge of the products is necessary.

The objective of crawling is to collect all possible resources from the server in order to automate vulnerability detection on each of these resources. A resource that is overlooked during this discovery phase can mean a failure to detect some vulnerabilities. The introduction of Ajax throws up new challenges [1] for the crawling engine. New ways of handling the crawling process are required as a result of these challenges. The objective of this paper is to use a practical approach to address this issue using rbNarcissus, Watir and Ruby.
Usually crawling engines are “protocol-driven” and open a socket connection on the target host or IP address and port. Once a connection is in place the crawler sends HTTP requests and tries to interpret responses. All these responses are parsed and resources are collected for future access. The resource parsing process is crucial and the crawler tries to collect possible sets of resources by fetching links, scripts, flash components and other significant data.
The “protocol-driven” approach does not work when the crawler comes across an Ajax embedded page. This is because all target resources are part of JavaScript code and are embedded in the DOM context. It is important to both understand and trigger this DOM-based activity. In the process, this has lead to another approach called “event-driven” crawling. It has following three key components
1. Javascript analysis and interpretation with linking to Ajax
2. DOM event handling and dispatching

Only the textures required to display the current scene are held in RAM. When new textures need to appear in the scene, they are loaded from a larger and slower repository, or they are dynamically generated.
For example, textures can be pulled from disk into system RAM or downloaded from system RAM into the video RAM of a 3D accelerator. Textures can be dynamically generated by combining illumination maps with unlit source textures. QUAKE was one of the first games to implement a texture caching system that interacts closely with the 3D pipeline to cache graphics in an efficient manner (see References). DOOM cached textures as well, but its system was more of a solid- state approach, as was the data caching scheme in the 2D side-scroller ABUSE. The source code to both ABUSE and DOOM is now available; see the References at the end of this article. This article is broken into two parts. First, we’ll discuss the nature of texture maps and the issues involved in implementing a texture cache. Then, we’ll look at some concrete implementations of caching systems used in games that are currently under development.
