FUEL PRESSURE TESTER A MUST FOR EVERY WORKSHOP
Since the early 90s, when new vehicles in Europe were being fitted with catalytic converters, a large percentage of petrol engines features single or multiple fuel injection system. Fuel pressure checks are now an integral part of diagnostics on current models in every automotive maintenance facility. Which symptoms for which diagnostic equipment? A vehicle which: is difficult to start from warm, starts but then stalls, runs erratically when idling, lacks performance, judders or misfires when accelerating, has high fuel consumption, needs its injection system checked using a Facom fault code reader X.800 for the electronics and then, if everything is normal, using a fuel pressure tester USAG 1710 for the fuel supply. The fuel pressure tester measures: ? pump pressure, ? system pressure, ? pressure regulator performance, ? residual pressure, and helps diagnose: ? a faulty pump, ? a faulty pressure regulator, ? a blocked fuel pipe or filter, ? a leaky injector, ? a faulty pump non-return valve.
